open Fall of. Equestria (RP)

The citizens of Equestria have lived in peace for as long as they could remember. They never thought that their existence could be threatened the way it did. Now, the four alicorn princesses, along with Discord and the elements of harmony, have been reported 'missing' and in the wake of such a calamity, the enemies of Equestria have taken over. The Changelings and their queen have taken most of the land surrounding the Everfree forest, including Ponyville and other small towns. King Sombra has reclaimed the Crystal Empire. Nightmare Moon now rules from Canterlot. Thieves, murderers, and other various forms of criminals now run amok. As it seems, there is no hope for Equestria or her innocent. One can never tell what the future may bring, though.

Tempest stood on a cliff that overlooked both the Everfree forest and Ponyville. "So much has changed." He thought. The bat pony then shook his head to clear his mind and sighed. "I will be back. I will end those who have taken the land I call home and her allies." With that, Tempest trotted away from the edge and started his search for potential allies to him.

((Please put links between here and the OOC thread, it'll make finding this a lot easier.))

Vibrant slunk through the gloomy alleyways of Canterlot, trying not to draw the attention of the unnaturally perceptive thestrals that upheld Nightmare Moon's martial law. Turning another corner he came to a sudden stop before backpedaling behind the wall, blocking his path were four of the burly batpony guards, their slitted eyes glowing yellow. At the center of the group lay the mangled body of what was probably once a less-lucky pony who had attempted the same thing Vibrant was aiming to do, escape the city. Closing his eyes, Vibrant began to meditate on the emotional energy he had stored up. There wasn't much. Seeing no other options he focused a spark of magic and felt the green wave of energy wash over him. He stumbled from exhaustion, attracting the attention of the guards.

"Hey you! What's going on?" called the first one in a deep voice. Vibrant straightened up and shook the blurriness from his vision. Looking at himself he noted the grey fur and leathery wings that now adorned his body. The guard took a step forward, "you deaf private? I asked what's happening".

"Reports of a changeling near the castle, sir! We're beefing up the security, it could be an assassin!" Vibrant shouted back in a low, authoritative voice. 'Am I losing my touch or what? May as well just turn myself in now I suppose'. To Vibrant's surprise however the guard didn't seem overly suspicious, he just sighed and mumbled about changelings and rumors before taking off, the rest of the guards following suit. Once they were finally out of sight Vibrant collapsed to his knees and his disguise dissipated along with the adrenalin keeping him going. 'I have to sleep' he thought to himself as he scanned the alley he lay in. The only protection was an open window three fire escapes up, Vibrant knew he'd never make it and even if he did there was no telling who or what could be inside. Painfully, he dragged himself into a crevice formed by two dumpsters, it wouldn't do much to hide him from anypony with eyes, but chances were he wouldn't live that long anyway. Looking up he saw the mutilated corpse, one bloody eye seeming to stare at him, before he was carried away into unconsciousness.

((Was that too much? I can go darker.))

Frost winced in pain as he stumbled over to the closest tree he could find, pain shooting up from the gash that was in his leg. He propped himself up against the trunk of the tree finally happy to be able to take a break. The quiet of the woods gave room for his heavy, scratchy breathing to echo through the trees. After a long pause Frost lifted his gaze from the dead grass below him to look at his surroundings. The fog was thick probably meaning he was near a swamp of some sort, all e could make out were the trees about a few meters from where he stood.

As far as Frost could tell he couldn't see any immediate danger. He turned his head slowly and levitated some rags from his saddle bag and placed them over his wound. Without missing a beat he ripped a small vine off the tree he leaned against and tied down the rags, grunting to himself. "Stupid bucking stumps." He mumbled as he started to stumble off through the dead forest

As Lucid sat in what he thought was a box car he felt his energy slowly dissipate from his his body. He held his head.

Sun. Even if the box car shaded him a bit he could feel the outside world's heat take toll on his brain, giving him a nauseating ache in his head.

"What happened to this world?" he thought. He thought of what Equestria used to be. It hurt him to think it took 4 princesses and some artifacts that he never knew much about to make Equestria the utopia the world it was.

As he looked out to the desolate wasteland of the desert, he saw waves drifting along the sand. Making him think of that wonderful feeling of water.

"It's too hot. I will die if I don't find water," he thought. "And I might die if I step a hoof out of here... Or maybe somepony will find me in here and do whatever they can to kill me." He closed his eyes. No matter what he would do the dread would never end. Wherever he went there would only be uncertainty.

All he knew was that the 4 princesses where gone, and for some reason anarchy ruled now.

"Great job protecting us Celestia and Luna!"

He had a little food left; 3 old and disgusting pies. But food was not what he wanted. Water, water, water. The only thought that he could think of.

He sat there for some time. Time. To him time didn't exist anymore, it washed away with the rest of the sanity that used to occupy Equestria.

He sat looking at the door leading outside, knowing that he would eventually need to leave the seemingly safe box car.

After an hour that seemed to last a minute he slowly got up and walked out. He started to walk in the direction that looked the clearest. The desert near dodge juntion was full of dangers, more than it used to have.

As he walked across the desert, he saw a black little figure, as he approached it he stepped back. It was a black stallion. He had no eyes left. He was dead and rotting. Lucid stared, noticing he had carried what must have been a gardening tool. He shut his eyes and started to walk from the body, focusing on the direction he was heading too; trying not to think how it would feel if somepony or something scrapped his eyes out.

It almost felt like they already were.

Trench was walking though the alleys to keep out of sight, which wasn't really hard for him cause of his dark coat and that he was a master at staying unseen. As he glided though the streets and alleys, avoiding the guards as much as he could and knocking some out when he had to. He made his way to a manhole that he knew that would lead outside the city. He knew about the manhole because he used it to get in the city. He came to Canterlot to see if he could help get some of the ponies inside the city out by smuggling them out.

@,  As he got closer he stumbled over something that felt like a leg. As he looked down he saw a passed out changeling. He was about to pull out his club and smash its head when he heard hoofsteps. He took hold of the changeling and jumped in the dumpster then closed the lid. Soon he heard a group of hoofsteps get louder as they walked towards where they were. Soon he heard them right next to the dumpster they were in, he hold his breath to make sure they couldn't hear him then he covered the changelings mouth take sure they couldn't hear it either. Just as they got louder they started to get quieter and quieter. Soon there was not a sound.

Trench pokes his head out and didn't see anyone. His ear flicks a few times and he was sure it was just them in the alley. He pulls himself and the changeling put of the dumpster. He lies the changeling on the ground to look over it so see if it was alright. All he could find was that it was exhausted. When he saw it was fine he got up and head to the manhole, but he stopped and looked back at it. If he left the  changeling it would soon be found and most likely killed on the spot. He lets out a sigh then walked back over to it and put it on his back. Then he pulled out a blanket from his saddlebag and placed it over the changeling and himself.

Trench peeks around the corners to see if anyone was there, lucky enough there was no one. He head towards a dead end alleyway where there was nothing but trash and dumpsters. He walks over to one dumpster and moves it to revile a manhole. He opens it and slowly climbs down it while he hold onto the changeling. When he got to the bottom he gently lies the  changeling down and climbs back up the close the manhole and hide it again. When he was done he climbed back down and out it back on his back and head off to where it led. Outside the city.

After a long walk he made it he took off running towards a small forest to get out of sight. He kept speed till he reached a small campsite with small crates of food, water and medical supplies. He takes the changeling to a tent and placed him on a cot with the blanket still on it. Then Trench got some food and water and placed it near it. Next he got a chair moved it near the changeling and sat in it to keep watch over the changeling and wait till it woke up.

The world spun drunkenly as Vibrant opened his eye's, unfamiliar colors and aromas mixing and churning as they barraged his senses. For a second he wondered if he had been captured by the guards, however he dismissed the idea with the knowledge that he would no longer be alive to ponder such a thought if that were the case. His blurry vision lingered on a large brown shape that filled his peripheral, and as it came into focus he realized it was an intimidating stallion toting a wicked club. His mind quickly settling on the worst conclusion, Vibrant jumped up only to find his hooves tangled in the sheets that covered him. With a thud he landed on his side in a cocoon of fabric, immobilized and at the mercy of the brutish stallion above him.

@,

Trench didn't give a reaction when the changeling woke up and fall out of the cot in a tangle of blankets. He takes off his holster that hold his club and placed it by his chair. He gets up and walks over to the changeling with a slight smirk cause he thought it was funny. Then he untangles it and sits it back on the cot and hoofs it some food and water to show no harm. Then he walked back over to his chair and takes a seat. He picks up a small plate of food and starts eating without a word.

Sensing no immediate danger from the large earth pony, Vibrant lay still as to allow himself to be removed from the restraining blankets.  Once free he sat up, eying the stallion from across the tent. "Where are we and why did you bring me here?" he asked in a waspish voice, no sane pony would save an undisguised changeling on the verge of death, most would simply end their misery without a second thought. Clearly this "rescuer" had ulterior motives.

Trench slowly chowed the food in his mouth thoroughly and thought of what to say to the changeling. During his time in Equestria he's fought many changelings, Batpony guards and a lot of scum that tried to do harm to him and others. When he say the changeling just lying there he felt he had to help it like it was the right thing to do. When he was done chewing he took a drink of water and swallow. "We're in a camp I set up for refugees of Canterlot after I smuggle them out. And if I left you where you were you would be dead." He said bluntly.

Tempest sighed as he trotted through the forest. "Considering the last time I visited her, she should still be around here." He thought to himself. The bat pony then glanced at his surroundings to make sure he wasn't being followed, and continued onward.

Gale was sleeping within the confines of her cave, when a familiar scent triggered her senses. "He's late. Maybe I should scare him to have some fun." The dragoness thought as she woke up and walked out of her cave. She then hid within the underbrush near the path Tempest had always taken and waited.

@@Gloomfury,

Vibrant was silent as he continued to watch the stallion suspiciously. If the gruff pony had wanted him dead then he had plenty of chances to do the deed already, then again it was just as likely he was passing time for the lynch mob to show up. 'At least I'm out of the city' he said to himself before another wave of exhaustion scrambled his thought process, suddenly he sensed something wafting through the air of the tent, it wasn't strong (or tasty) enough to be love or friendship. Optimism? Kindness? Pity? Vibrant couldn't tell, but it was still enough to knock back the blackness creeping into his vision. Coming to a decision, Vibrant spoke up; "I wan't to help you, save ponies I mean," 'at least until I have enough energy to survive on my own, hopefully that's before I'm swinging by my neck from a tree' he added silently.

Frost continued to stumble through the forest resting on a tree every couple hundred meters as to take a breath and gain his bearing over again. The dehydration was taking a great toll on his body, the fact he had lost a fair amount of blood from the gash in his leg did not help matters in the slightest. The next time he stopped and gazed around he could see what appeared to be a cave in the distance. That looks like a safe place to lie down for a while...there may be water... he thought to himself.

As he started to limp towards the cave he could see a blackness creeping in from the corner of his eyes. He knew that if he passed out here he may not be do lucky as to stay alive. He had to get to the cave. He edged closer but before he could reach the entrance he blacked out and fell to the forest floor.

Gale watched as the strange pony fell next to the entrance of her cave. "Something isn't right." She thought, as she slowly moved towards Frost. The dragoness then maneuvered Frost so that he laid on her back and brought him into her cave. She then put him on a bed made of leaves.

Tempest walked into a clearing and noticed a familiar cave. The bat pony then smiled as he trotted in and noticed Gale. "It's good to know that you're safe." He said, before noticing Frost. "I see you made a new friend."

Gale glanced at one of the only ponies whom she considered a friend, and shrugged. "I found him like this outside, and decided to help him." She said. "So, what have you been up to?"

The bat pony sighed and sat down. "Let's just say that Equestria has seen better days." He said. "We should wait for him to wake up, though."

Black was all Frost could remember when he started to open his eyes, memories of the cave were blurry but there none the less. His eyes slowly opened, he found himself staring at what appeared to be a rock ceiling. He groaned lightly and turned his head from side to side, his vision was blurry, all the colors around him blinded together but he was able to make out shapes. He heard voices around him and turned his gaze to the source. As his vision cleared he made out to figures, one appeared to be a stallion and the other was larger. A dragon? he thought to himself. He tried to sit up but his body ached from the movements causing him to fall back down on the bed of leaves with a grunt of pain.

Tempest smirked as he heard Frost and shook his head. "I would wait to move around if I were you." He said. "Don't want you dying on us after Gale took all the time and effort to carry your flank in here." The bat pony then stood up, and stretched slightly. "So, mind telling us what you were doing out in this neck of the woods?"

Frost relaxed his muscles and took a deep breath, not making eye contact with the stallion as he spoke. He hesitated before speaking up. "I fell down a hill while looking for some water...I cut my leg open and patched it up. Then I woke up here." He said in a cold tone as he rested his head on his hooves, looking back at the now blood soaked rag that was tied to his leg which throbbed painfully.

Skater was walking around the Everfree which was  where she called home. She was in her normal changeling state wearing her brown cloak with out the hood on. The cloak was short and only came down to where her cutie mark would be. Her head was low as she thought about all the innocent ponies that were killed in Ponyville. She feared that forces would start to move deep into the Everfree. Then where would she live? As she was looking down, she noticed a dragonfly. She pounced toward it and the dragonfly quickly moved from its attacker and landed on a nearby leaf. a small smile formed on Skater's face. "It's so on." she said looking at her tiny opponent. She leaped at it again and it dodged again. Skater let out a small giggle. She continued to chase after the bug, leaping and running, and laughing as she went. Then suddenly, she stopped in her tracks as she heard voices nearby. Her smile disappeared and she was filled with fear. She quickly leaped into a bush and without hesitating, she transformed into her normal pony form. Now when somepony would see her, the would see a  young, green eyed white unicorn mare with a simple, purple mane and tail.

Night approached as Lucid began looking for wood. If he could find a cave out in the desert he could hide and start a fire; but there still was no water. He hadn't drank all day and soon he would die with no water.

Going back to one of the old towns like Applolossa was out of the question. Bandits would await hapless travelers like him.

He found a little cave under a rock formation. It was small but it would do. He took a log and levetated a little stick. Within 30 minutes a smal ember was burning which grew into a little campfire.

He lay down and whispered to himself, "No water, oh please, I just need a sip..."

After a little, Lucid drifted to a dreamless sleep.

@,

Trench looked over the changeling after he said he wanted to help him. He sits back in his chair and takes a sip of his water while he thought about it. Having someone working with him who's a master of disguise could come in handy. But he hardly know this changeling. He takes another drink of water and sits it down. "Can you fight?"

Vibrant frowned at the question. "Not if I can help it, but I can..." he trailed off for a second, realizing just how useless his skill set was in this new Equestria. He sighed, "I usually try to avoid that sort of conflict whenever possible, but I was trained to fight during my years in the army. I could help more if I had the energy" he said, some of the perkiness that had begun to return to his voice disappearing.

Tempest nodded slightly. "I might as well believe you for now. Do anything that makes me believe otherwise, and there isn't a place you can't hide that I won't find you." He said. "By the way, my name is Tempest Sol and the dragoness is Gale."

Said dragoness sighed slightly and smirked. "I wasn't expecting you to be so dramatic, Tempest." She said, with a sly smirk. Gale then turned her attention to Frost. "Don't let him get to you. He just likes to be cautious."

Clayton sighed as he trotted through the desert. He only wore a cloak with his obsidian scythe at his side. It wasn't long before he saw a flickering light in the distance and found a cave with a sleeping pony. "Rest easy, friend." He said as he took one of his two canteens and placed it next to Lucid. The unicorn then waited for him to wake up.

Lucid woke as he looked outside, he saw the blue night sky start to get brighter. Night was ending, heat was returning to the desert.

Lucid turned and jumped; seeing a orange-red pony in the cave. Immediately  he put his hoofs up and was secretly planning on putting up a shield if needed.

"Even if I do make a shield, I'm at his mercy. I'm low on energy and can barely survive," he thought.

 @,

Trench thought it over a little more as he sits back in his chair. He didn't like conflict either but if he had to he would kill someone. That's why he mostly knocked out guards. But soon he'll have to kill them cause they might catch onto him and his smuggling. He lets out a heavy sigh as his eyes go down. "In this day and age it's either kill or be killedBut I hold back on killing as much as possibleButthere are times where you will have to." He looks back up to the changeling with hollow sapphire eyes. "Could you kill if you had to?"

Vibrant frowned as pondered the stallion's words, flashbacks of divebombing innocents on the streets of Canterlot resurfaced in his mind. Quickly he pushed the disturbing memories aside and conjured the image of a bat-winged soldier charging him, 'dodge right, brace left leg in path and body slam, momentum flips him on his side, elbow jab to exposed solar plexus, stunned, rib cage fractured, strike back of cerebellum, dead.... stop!'  Vibrant's eyes met the stallion's, "no, I've been there before and I won't allow myself to be tempted by that path again."
