I want to see if the writers can make it more then what it seems to be. I agree with you that the gossip column is a pretty common tv trope. But still, so far the writer's have been pretty good at turning common tv tropes into pretty good episodes (stable time loop, standing up for yourself, etc, etc). I think that it might have been the poor quality of the audio in the video. Listening to it again, I can definitely hear what sounds like the familiar hints of lower audio quality... As in permanently or temporarily? Either way, that sounds pretty serious. Rarity and Twilight sounded off to me too though, but I could just be reading too much into it. Edit: Errr....
