Aren't My Little Pony and My Little Pony 'n' Friends are the same thing? :P

 

Getting back on topic, I really like My Little Pony. Before FiM, it is the only MLP show I like to watch because of its surprisingly dark villains. I personally think that the villains of G1 MLP are much darker than what FiM's villains could ever be. xP

 

Also, MLP Tales is garbage. :P

Nope :mellow: My Little Pony is the main series, My Little Pony n' Friends is a crossover between My Little Pony, Potato Head Kids, Moondreamers and The Glo Friends.

Well, I guess I haven't seen MLP 'n Friends, so I can't say anything about that one.

 

I watched all of the original and have been through several episodes of Tales already. So far I think I liked the original a little better because Tales just kind of looks like just any other cartoon of its type and time... Although I haven't watched it all of the way through, of course.

 

Still, I'm enjoying it, and I don't think that the original is perfect either, because while Tales is completely slice-of-life, I think the original actually focused too much on villains and life-or-death situations, and thus didn't really have too many fun episodes to allow us to really get to know the characters.

 

But I try not to be too judgmental knowing that I watched FiM first and am unintentionally stacking them up against it... They all have their own charm and value.

The original. It did have some standard 80s villain-of-the-week adventure stuff going on. Nothing great but after G4 it's the best this franchise has been,

But it had a standalone series too, and MLP Tales is not G2, G2 didn't have a show.

the original MLP started in the mid 80's but there was two different designs. One for the pilot and second episode but then Hasbro continued on with the same cast when they started MLPaF (which is what most consider G2 but this is wrong)(imho)

 

The MLP Tales didn't show until early 90's with a completely different cast and story line which qualifies it as G2

 

G3 started in the early 00's (which thankfully I missed) and G4 of course, started in 2010

I'm gonna have to go with the original show! In fact my favorite MLP episode of all time (including FiM) is Rescue from Midnight castle!

Well, this is where I draw my lines. I always hated calling things by the the dewey decimal system.... there's no point in it.

No. because the one you are pointing to as G2 doesn't even qualify because it didn't exist as a show and only barely as a toy line concept and even then came out after MLP Tales.

 

As far as the animation cartoon show... MLP tales was created differently then MLP-aF and was the second incarnation of the series.

I think so... but this is the grey area because I only know the one side of this. I've been a fan of this show since the beginning and tried to keep up with most of what i could (they didn't have internet back then)

The fact that it didn't have a show doesn't mean they don't count as a generation, it's Hasbro, Hasbro means toys, and that's all it needs to count.

 

It's just like Transformers G2, it didn't really have a show, it was all about toys that really showed the real character forms.
