The Seer stood firm and took the force of the attack, raising an arm in front of his face protectively. While they staggered him slightly, his feet remained unmoved- although an observant eye might have noticed what perhaps could have been a slight crack in his form, or maybe the slightest hint of struggle in his face. "Good. Now you're starting to take this seriously. Always take fighting seriously. If I'm supposed to teach you, let that be your first lesson."

Luke smiled. "I'm glad you approve. If you don't have any questions, we can start right away. The first thing I want you all to do is find a comfortable place to sit down and try to just clear your mind. I know that's easier said than done if you haven't ever done it before, but I want you to at least try. I'll be joining you, of course."

"Find a comfortable place, sit down, clear mind. I can do that." Nico muttered to himself nervously and sat down where he stood. Getting into a comfortable position, he closed his eyes to help with the clearing of his mind. He breathed in and out slowly amd tried to ignore the bunch og tech signals going off in his head in order to clear his mind.

Rikku took off her shoes and sat, stretching her dress over her thighs in a vain attempt to cover up. She hit herself mentally for not wearing the appropriate clothing and made a note to shop for such later. She fell into it easily, usually entering such a peaceful state when she sun bathed.

 

Tora plopped down and dis her best to relax but within a few moments she had fallen asleep upright.

Tempting though it was, Victor did his best not to look at Rikku, who was even more appealing than usual in this peaceful, meditative state- not to mention her dress, but he wasn't going to look at that. He was a gentleman, damn it. Except now his mind was filled with thoughts of her and clearing it wasn't going to be easy. He closed his eyes and tried to focus.

 

Giles, for his part, chose to ignore the fact that Tora had fallen asleep. In a sense, that wasn't too far off from what they were going for. Sort of. Well, he'd talk to her later. He was glad to see that Rikku, at least was doing a good job. He smiled warmly at her and slipped into a meditative state himself. He continued to speak to them as he did. "Alright. Think about yourself. About all the things that make up who you are. Think about how your powers fit in with that. Remember that they are a part of you, but they are not what defines you. They are yours to use and control as you wish. Focus on the fact that you are the one in control. Hold that fact in your mind, and come to embrace it."

Gale sighed slightly at the memory and felt a bit worried. She didn't know how Shadow would react. "I basically woke up in the middle of the night and my body looked like it was glowing. I looked around and noticed that a stream of electricity was coming out of a socket and into my body. I guess I was scared, but I calmed down when I didn't feel any pain. Over time, I learned to control my powers." She said. "As for my parents, they kinda threw me out when they found out and I've been wandering ever since."

I sighed, but kept my anger well contained, who abandons their child just because of what they are capable of?

 

"Damn, that's harsh as hell kicking your kid out just because they had a power. I guess I was lucky that my parents helped me control my power when it first manifested."

Gale nodded as she ate and looked at Shadow. "I was mad at them for a time, but eventually forgot about them." She said. "Like you said, if they really loved me, they wouldn't have abandoned me. I should've seen it coming, though. They weren't exactly the most open minded people and the anti meta propaganda didn't help." The teen felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders and she felt happy. "I guess I wouldn't have met you if they hadn't done that though." Gale laughed slightly and blushed.

Nico breathed out and then back in slowly. He thought about what made him, him. He tried to think of that as well as how his powers over technology fit in with himself. 'This isn't working. The signals are too much for me.' Nico thought with panic but kept his breathing calm. He wasn't used to sitting still but he made an effort if this let him have better control.

@@Alex Kennedy, @, Louise grabbed hold of Seer when he was talking to Zen, and she concentrated her power so that his bones would become brittle and would break with even a little movement. She promised herself that this would be the last and if it didn't work, she wasn't going to play his game any more.

Gritting his teeth through what must have been an unbelievable amount of pain, Seer whirled around and struck Louise in the face, knocking her away from him. As he did so, however, all the bones in his arm broke, as well as those in his legs from turning too quickly. His knees buckled and he feel to the ground, but he actually seemed to be happy. "Good. That's good. You passed."

@@Alex Kennedy, At first, Louise thought that her attack hadn't work. When Seer struck her, she reeled away backwards, her hands to her face. When she recovered herself, she was about to say that she wasn't going to mess around with this any more, when Seer spoke. Louise was surprised, and it showed.

Seer nodded, looking up at her from his place on the floor. "I'm down. So you passed. More than anything, I wanted to see you both fight seriously. I got that, and you proved you have talent and skill. I can work with that. Or I could if my bones weren't shattered, anyway."

"I don't think your parents hated you necessarily but more like between propaganda and fear of the unknown they panicked and made a horrible choice. Never underestimate the power of propaganda in a time of confusion. I'm not saying they are right or justifying there actions, but I would hate to lead you to think that your parent strait up hated you. Anyway yea we wouldn't have met if that hadn't of happened." Rikku tried her best to stay calm and find herself. She could accept her powers but the only thing that frightened her was the evil that could come from it. The growing and harvesting she could handle, it filled her with fufillment and happiness. But the earthquake she had caused stirred memories that snapped her out of her peace.

 

Her eyes snapped open and she took in a shaky breath, suddenly these walls felt so confining, she felt suffocated.

Luke's eyes snapped open. He had been doing this for a long time and could sense Rikku's distress. He hurried over and knelt down next to her. "Are you alright? You seem... almost frightened."

 

Victor hadn't been having much luck with the whole meditation thing and was trying to get his focus back when he noticed Luke had rushed over to Rikku. He quickly got up and hurried to her side as well. "Rikku? Do you need fresh air? Come on, I'll help you out of here. We'll go take a walk or something." He extended a hand to help her up.

Feeling that the signals were getting too much, he let out a breath and opened his eyes a crack. Seeing that Luke and Victor were surrounding Rikku because of ... something, he opened his eyes the rest of the way. "Everything alright Rikku?" Nico asked her concernedly. He wasn't even sure if there was something wrong with her. He turned his attention to Tora to say something and found she had fallen asleep. 'She's ... asleep.' Nico thought with a sigh.

"Oh...oh goodness...I'm fine. Please, im alright." She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "I'm not...I'm not used to the city...the concrete...the buildings...I just..."

 

Her muscles tensed and she could feel a twisting in her gut. She supposed she was having a quiet meltdown "Thank you Nico...I will be okay...".

 

Tora smiled in her sleep, her body remaining upright and rigid in the meditative state.

Victor looked at her nervously. "Are you sure you're alright? Do you want me to get you out of here for a bit? We can go find a park or something, maybe a quiet spot on the beach somewhere. It'll be closer to home for you."

 

Luke nodded. "It's no problem if you aren't feeling well. Training can wait. It won't work if you don't have the right mindset anyway." He looked over at Tora. "Besides, I get the feeling some of us aren't really getting much out of this training right now. Though I do admire her tranquility in a way."

"Okay. Long as you're sure." Nico said and fiddled with his cube. "Hey, if you miss home, maybe I could make something from where you lived. What was your favourite thing back home?" Nico offered Rikku. He wasn't sure if he could manipulate his cube to make what she wanted but he could give it a shot. He looked over at Tora and wondered how she could sleep like that. "She's sleeping, right?" Nico asked Luke.

This power works both ways; of course, in the case of an evil doer I was fighting, I wouldn't be so keen on healing their bones. But I'll heal you. Just let me touch you."

Gale nodded and smiled slightly. "Thanks." She said, kissing him in the cheek. "I don't really care what happened in the past and decided that it was best to worry about the present. As for my parents, I forgave them for what they did." The teen knew she still had some skeletons in the closet, but figured that she wouldn't have to tell Shadow.

"That's a good philosophy to have, the past is a lesson to remember but the present is what matters." I smiled when she kissed me on the cheek and kept an arm around Gale's back. A part of me reminded me how much of a hypocrite I was, but I continued to keep my smile and hug Gale close to me dispute the internal struggle.

Rikku smiled calmy at the four "I like this training really, yes, it's hard for me to be disconnected from soil...I am not used to it..."
