Alicorns are shady

Does anypony else wonder why Alicorns are the supreme rulers of Equestria and why there are only a handful of them in the world? How about why are they seemingly immortal and nopony trys to find out why so they don't have to grow old and die? What does Starswirl have to do with it?

 

How about this fishy analogy of a war between the pony races almost bringing about their own distruction on hearts warming eve and how they fail to bridge the gap between then and when Alicorns took over? The only pony to really profit off that dark time was Celestia since it landed her the throne.

 

Am I the only pony who wonders if Family Celestia may of forced a new world order to happen?

 

I only watched the series recently and havent delved into much side material, so I would love to hear a rebuttle that ISN'T

It'll certainly be interesting if we'll see some origin story into Alicorns in the future. I wouldn't go as far as say they're shady, that sounds too negative. There had been interesting interpretations in fanfics for them, but it'll be interesting to get something canon.

Well it is just a kids show to be honest, you wouldn't really see many viewers of the tart get audience questioning all of this, and thinking maybe celestias family created a war and forced everyone into this ruling. They just think it looks cooler having a horn and wings.

Well, the "Journal of the Two Sisters" hints that alicorns are not immortal; they just age different from other ponies.

 

As it stands, the reasons why alicorns are treated as royalty is that the other pony races WANTED them to be in that position. Nothing more; nothing less.

 

It's not that she directly rules, but the royal sisters are still treated with great affinity.

Alicorns are probably royality because they are a living symbol of the unification of the 3 tribes. They possess the talents of all 3. its ideal in a way. the 3 tribes share one ruler, where a situation like say, a unicorn ruling pegesi or vice versa might cause political hassle. Especially considering the war-like attitude of the early pegesi.

First off, only the two sisters, age for long periods of time, and they are clearly not godlike as Celestia got salted by Queen Chrysalis with realitive ease. Which leads to think they can probably die if they got their head cut off. (But this is Hasbro, nopony dies in their show.)

 

Secondly, as stated in the parethisies, what did you expect? We dont' see ponies die! Celestia and Luna won't, but Cadence and Twilight more likely will age like regular ponies. Why? Because they 'ascended' into an alicorn, whereas Celestia and Luna were 'born' into their kind. Apparently being 'born into' and ascention, give different perks.

 

This would make sense since Celestia and Luna are needed to raise and lower the sun and moon, without them, there would be disharmony for the entire world of Equestria and their world would fall apart. So its common sense they shouldn't 'age' as quickly as normal ponies.

 

Alicorns IMO arn't 'shady', and if all else, their orgins just really haven't been explained enough to make such a claim.

It's funny to see that in Ancient mythology, alicorns are considered to be evil. Anyway, they are indeed rare creatures. That puts them at positions of power. Plus, they are here to unify all ponies. So, they are a symbol for Equestria.

 

Before, the ponies were "at war" with each other , then they made peace. We do not know when the Alicorns come in, in the timeline of the story (at least I don't).

 

The creators of the show did not put any details in the alicorns. so I don't think there is a lot to talk about.

While that maybe true, that doesn't mean we can't speculate what may of happened. The fandom of ponies would be dull without speculation and valid points of views on things like this.

they probably do. Mayor Mare is most likely an elected official and we've seen plenty of contests and such in the show where a winner was chosen on number of votes gained.

(I am glad only one comment veered into the "its just a kid show" direction. Its a boring pedantic stance that kills discussion, get your imagination flowing!)

 

Alright say that the two sisters are just REALLY long lived, would that mean they eventually would have to hand off their power over celestial bodies to some other pony? If they don't then badness befalls the land

 

Why are no more alicorns being born? If two accended alicorns had a foal would it be a full blown Alicorn?

 

Also the sisters themselves have clearly shown that there is more going on they they would like ponies to think, unless we all forgot that whole Nightmare moon/Luna banished by Celestia for a thousand years(or however long it was) and then they are totally cool with hanging out together thing. if you got more life sentences then you could shake a stick at from your older sis, would YOU want to hang out?

Maybe Celestia is getting weaker in her old age... That is why she brought her sister back and assended Cadence and Twilight. She is getting to the point where she cannot do it on her own anymore. That became clear when she lost that fight and refused to even challenge Tirek.

There are only a handful of them, because they can only ascend to an alicorn. No births and no races. Just ascension. Nopony has to find out why alicorns are immortal, because they already know. Alicorns are just using the aging spell from the Magic Duel Episode. Starswirl has nothing to do with it. There was never an alicorn conspiracy and there will be never one. Ponies just wanted rulers who represent all three races in one pony.

That's my probably boring headcanon.

Alicorns of MLP might not be natural creatures, but 'created' with magic as shown with Twilight and Cadence. It'd be crazy if the same force that created Discord has an opposite that created Celestia and Luna.

 

Personally i think the Sisters were created though experimentation with the Elements of Harmony, combine this with the fact there is no mention of Alicorns before the unification where each race had its own ruler (Puddinghat, Platina and Hurricane). With racial tensions resolved only now would we see cross-breeding within the tribes that might possibly explain how Alicorns came to be.
