Who's NOT a fan of the humanized MLP characters?

I am most of the time. Sometimes they turn out poorly. Rarity is the worst when it comes to humanized designs though. Seldom does she ever look good because most artists are trying to make her look older and "handsome" rather than cute. Purple lipstick, while I see what they're going for, is honestly a terrible choice. Every now and then a good one comes along, but she seems to get the short end of the stick when drawn in any way other than a pony.

 

As for the others, I do like humanized and anthro designs depending on the artist's style, and most seem to draw them in a way I find visually appealing.

 

 

 

 

Sunset Shimmer anthros and humanizes better than anypony, in my opinion. Never seen it turn out poorly.

 

As you said, it largely depends on the artist, and I think this artist is, so far, the bed I've seen in that regard...though his designs are obviously more based on Equestria Girls...it still counts. :3

I've favorited a bunch of his stuff on DeviantArt. Humans or ponies, he sure knows what he's doing.

Yeah, uotapo is definitely one of the best artists at humanizing ponies.

i think its just personal preference. i like the human fanart, as long as its quality.

 

the "equestria girls" humans look too much like barbie dolls or something like that, for my taste.

Honestly, it's stuff like this that get's trivialized all the time and it's getting annoying. I could care less if ponies were ponies, human, or anthro. What matters to me is the art style. If the art style and direction is good, the rest doesn't matter. Blam!

Yeah, quality definitely plays a big role in human fan art. If human fan art is not done right and has bad quality, it looks awful. But if done right, it can be amazing.

I usually like them, as I think it's interesting to see how people will make them look like if they were human or anthro, that and I think their personalities could translate well

 

Though if I had to pick which I prefer, human or anthro, I'd say anthro as most of the time anthro avoids some design choices I dislike seeing on humanized ponies, and they can still maintain some of their pony aspects(though I have to admit, a lot of the time, anthro usually has a tendency to be on the...saucier side  )

I'd actually say Rainbow Dash has it worse honestly. Sure, when they're good, they're really good, but when they look bad(which unfortunately happens a lot imo) she either looks terrifying or it might as well be R63

I agree, I think they should be judged by how their art looks rather than the idea behind it(which I find unfair)

I get what you're saying here, but I still don't find that as an excuse as to why the others ( specifically the mane 6 ) can't be humanized just as well. We've seen them be humans just as long as Sunset Shimmer.

When you humanize something, like p0n3z. Give them a body that is seemingly human (no unnatural skin color etc.) and have their personality be the way they look humanized.

I know I would never be a good furry because even the pictures presented as "good" anthro art creeps me out.

 

I can like humanized but I really dislike anime style. What's weird is I'm really interested in Japan, it's culture, and it's language, but I can't stand anime styled stuff. The more anime stylistic cliches a picture has, the less I like it.

Well I was going to post I mostly disliked humanized versions of ponies. Most of them don't look very good and are incredibly awkward but after seeing some of the picture on this thread I should say that there are to many artists who can't do humanized versions of ponies well. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes some ponies are a ton more difficult to humanize because of their nature.

humanized versions like that make me feel uncomfortable. They don't feel right when I look at it. I've never actually seen any humanized versions like that before. I guess It's just uncanny seeing softer features of animated things in harder more human features.
