Meditation Topic

Do you guys meditate? And if so, when was the last time you did so? What methods do you use?

I do meditate, of course. Every saturday, I take a soothing bath as I meditate. I always clench my eyes shut and narrate a path to inner peace including a mantra of "oms" and calming my muscles down.

I've always wanted to get into meditation more, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. What technique(s) would you recommend for a complete noob to try out?

Well, I'm more of a beginner myself, so I recommend the technique I mentioned in the OP.

I am forced by my guardians to practice Transcendental Meditation EVERY FUCKING DAY, dose it work? No. Do I enjoy it? No. I DONT BELIVE IN THAT RELIGIOUS GARBAGE, yet I'm forced to do it...

meditation would imply i have 1 hour of free time to waste like that, and that i would actually stand 1 hour doing nothing.

 

so yeah i would probly never meditate in my life, ASMR is enough since i can actually do something while it is in the background.

I really like to meditate, I'll do it every so often before I go to bed for about 30 mins. 

 

I just usually sit on my bed and focus on my breathing It's really relaxing in my opinion  ^_^

I prefer meditating at winter when i strip down bare and let dry, cold air seep into my skin. I do it in solitude, listening to a monotonous noise as i clear my mind for 10-15 minutes, focusing only on the noise, either sitting, laying or standing still. When i get up, my mind feels as sharp as a sword and pointed as an arrow.

I do. I have been studying Buddhism and Zen for over a year now. My martial arts training has helped as well. I try to meditate often, especially when I am stressed or troubled. It has helped me a lot.  I usually sit quietly, clear my mind and listen to my breathing.

 

One technique I have been using recently is to picture oneself in a peaceful place. My place is Equestria :P

I am working on turning welding into a type of meditation. I am by nature a very tense person, and it's always been hard for me to relax. With welding, you have to be calm and have control of your body's motion. It's been really hard to do. I tried listening to my normal pump up music in the beginning and my welds were awful. When I turned to my calming folk music, my welds turned out much much better. I honestly feel welding is very boring, but if I can make it meditative, I feel like it might be better for my overall well being....especially if i make it a fully time job.

 

Otherwise, I am horrible at actual meditation. Again, I am naturally tense, and if I try to relax, my mind goes nuts or I fall asleep....

I've tried meditation before (basically just laying on my back in silence and focusing on breathing), but it didn't work terribly well.  My problem is that I have a very difficult time clearing my mind of idle thoughts.  After a couple of minutes, my mind wanders off into a different direction.  The best I could do was maybe 5-10 minutes.  I might get better at it if I did it on a more regular basis, but I don't.
