Seriously though, I've legit seen people complaining that their older-ass dual-core that would've been pushing it when the PS3 launched won't play games anymore. it baffles me some of these seem people have higher cards like 970s so they can obviously afford to re-build.

Well that's just plain ignorance and stupidity on their part.  They complain about a problem (crappy game performance) but do nothing to solve said problem (upgrading the CPU).

They could literally just get a Pentium G3258, a Z97 mobo, and then overclock the balls off of it on the stock cooler (usually ~4.6GHz) and get great performance in all games that don't use over 2 cores paired with a 970.

If they want good performance in all games then they would most likely need an i5, and perhaps a new motherboard that supports that socket.

hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

Also don't hate on big rigs.

Is this considered hating on big rigs?

Speaking of Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing...

And here's the same guy, Alex Navarro, speedrunning BROTRR for Awesome Games Done Quick.

Alex explains how the game is speedrun at 7:36, then the actual run begins at 8:54.

Yeah, I've seen people with things like Core 2 Duos or Celerons complaining that devs aren't going out of their way to make AAA titles run on them.

I built my FX-8320/750ti build for $600 or so, it's not that hard to upgrade.

Just remember that if you ever decide to switch to Intel or upgrade to Zen, you will have to swap motherboards. AM3 is a dead platform now.

thanks to earlier recommendations from thsi thread I am going to be using this build for my gaming PC

So I would like to thank you all for that but also ask if there is anything I should be aware of when building a PC. Any sort of rokie mistakes to avoid that would be damaging?

Not a bad first build, I'd say. It would definitely outperform the PS4/XBone, even a build like that.

Tips? Well, just take your time, watch some tutorials if you're not sure on things, don't rush and get impatient, because that could lead to damaging things.

Putting a PC together really isn't that hard. I wasn't sure before I built mine, but I can assure you that it'll be worth it in the end. Also, read any manuals. Those help.

I plan to get a 970 and another 8GB of of RAM to ride out this gen for a few years, so it'll be likely I'll be ready for a whole new PC by the time I need a CPU, anyway.

Going to stick to AMD or go Intel if you do?

I still highly recommend the Steelseries Rival as far as mice go, especially optical mice. Probably the best optical mouse I've ever used.

Time to replace my mouse soon. It's been fucking up worse for a while now. It sounds like something loose shaking inside it. Doesn't help that it's a cheap piece of garbage, and it must have gone though some bad force, too.

Probably gonna get this:

That thing looks so robotic and uncomfortable...

Good vibes

What about the one I linked? Is that any good?

Well, so does every other gaming mouse :P

It looks like a typical gaming mouse. Also, remember that later mice have inherent mouse acceleration that's often hard to disable, although it works on more surfaces than optical mice so there's that.

Is that bad? I also have a typical mousepad.

Aesthetics, it depends. Acceleration, yes. There's a reason I opted for an optical mouse.

The steelseries thing looks really cool. I'd buy it, if I cared enough somehow.

The Rival's been my mouse to go to since it launched. Can't think of a better mouse.

I was more referring to the fact that it looks like a typical gaming mouse. Acceleration isn't really a problem for me. Also, this is the current mouse I have:

Oh. I dunno, I prefer mice that wouldn't be out of place in an office setting but still make great gaming mice. Not a big fan of flashy "Hey look, I'm a gamer!" designs.

Hmm, you make a good point. Also, this mouse does look really sexy:

Also, my current mouse is broken from getting a bit frustrated in some games. Yeah, I'm that type of gamer. Granted, I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be.

That's... the same mouse I mentioned xD

Just remember it's an optical mouse, so no glossy mousepads.

Well, the one I have is more of a thick clothy mousepad, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll get that one.

Oh, I will. I quite like the simplistic design, and it still has typical gaming mouse buttons. I don't think I could go back to a mouse without a back/forward button.

I know, it's so hard to go back to a mouse without back/forward buttons.

I feel like saying this, but the true reason why I've become more of a PC gamer has more to do with the PC having the biggest library of video games ever, even if you don't count Steam and GoG combined.  But even so, its library pales in comparison to EVERY video game in existence: who's code is at risk of being lost forever.

Hell, I would lay down my life to have Nintendo games on Steam if I had things my way.
