Cherry Bomb 51 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 Title really says it all. I am on a rather tight budget and am trying to make my own mlp analysis vids. But the mic I have is hand me from my older brother. Logitech headset to precise and every time I use it my voice turns into that of a mouse. I really could use the help.
Pone 141 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 Well from what I've heard, snowball mics are quite good for their price, they usually sell for around $50-$100 so that might be something to check out http://www.bluemic.com/snowball/ I made a signature :
Ragland Tiger 3,483 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 (edited) If you take the time to save a few bucks, some very nice and relatively inexpensive usb microphones can be had. For you i'd recommend a CAD U-37. it's under fifty bucks and very good for the money. I hope this helps. http://cadaudio.com/USB_U37.php Edit: Some additional tips for recording with condenser microphones (which these are): -Condenser mics are loud. You don't need to munch on the mic capsule to get a decent sound. Address the microphone about 4" to 6" away. -Don't address the capsule "dead on". This causes plosives (those annoying pops and explosions you hear on T's, P's, D's etc.) Adjust the height of the microphone so that you're aiming about 1" above the mic grille. That way, you'll still be in the "sweet spot" while avoiding those nasty plosives. Good luck. RT Edited October 4, 2014 by Ragland Tiger
Stallionslaughter 394 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 If you're still looking, Nady Starpower is about $15 bucks at Musiciansfriend.com. My band records vocals and drums with it, and it does a decent job for the price. We use two Nadys for the drums, but we record on a budget: https://www.soundcloud.com/a-dozen-dead-furs/come-as-you-are-nirvana-cover Floor Tom - Stallionslaughter - Commission Pencil Artist ASK STALLIONSLAUGHTER THREAD

websterhamster 203 November 3, 2014 Share November 3, 2014 All of the above is good advice; I started on a $50~ Audio-Technica ATR2100USB dynamic microphone, which is nice because it has a built-in USB interface and an analog XLR output so you can use it with better equipment when you eventually upgrade. The only problem with it is the little USB connector, which is like old camera USB connectors, got loose after several hundred times plugging it in and then unplugging it. But because of the XLR output I was able to plug it into an interface and keep on recording. I would avoid purchasing any microphone under $50 unless it's a quality analog mic from a reputable company, such as Audio-Technica. And if you're using something for recording, get a condenser mic - they have a better frequency range, thus you'll sound that much better. When I upgraded, I got a Behringer XENYX 302USB mixer/USB interface, which I still use to help control my show. Then for $60 I got an MXL990 large-diaphragm condenser mic, and then after saving for a while, I got a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB interface, which is a 2-input, 2-output (separate channels) dual-purpose (direct-in and preamp) interface with pro-audio Focusrite preamps for $150, although I think I spent a little less than that because I purchased a demo model from Sweetwater. Mae Borowski 356 November 3, 2014 Share November 3, 2014 depending on your price range, i use a Blue Spark, an Icicle interface, and adobe audition to record anything, I enjoy my solid-state condenser. its especially handy for my music, and voice acting, since there are settings for depth, or tone, and the way you also angle the mic makes a big difference http://www.musiciansfriend.com/condenser-microphones/blue-spark-limited-edition-blue "What are you trying to accomplish, putting yourselves in danger like that? Trying to see "justice" done? Is that really justice, though? Aren't you just doing this because you want a little spice in your boring lives?
