What is it that people love about the show?

First off, I've only watched the first two epidsode of the show, so I can't say I'm a fan. So I can't say I like the show, or hate it yet (which I dont). So before I go and end up watching the whole series in one night, I wondered what are your reasons for loving the show? What is it that makes people so drawn to it? Also, this is my first time using a forum, so I feel nervous posting this :3

For a lot of people it is a combination. The show doesn't do one particular thing perfectly, but it has the right combination of light hearted fun, slice of life moral compass stories and the occasional grand fantasy adventure. The show is really a perfect storm of children's entertainment, it has all the nice slice of life "grounded in reality" (albeit a odd one) of a sitcom, but still has the adventure and fantasy of a more common cartoon.

Ah, welcome and congrats on your first time using the forums.

 

I would have to say what draws me into the show most is that it uses incredibly funny references from other shows. Also the fact that the show wasn't really intended on having so many male viewers so it caught my attention. It doesn't strike me as something "girly" but more of equal of both male and female, not really for or against. The storyline and the slice of life that they add make us say "Oh I've been there before." or "I've done that." so it relates to each age group as well. It's well drawn, well voice-acted, and is made by the most talented group of people I've ever seen in a TV show. It's something unexpected that disarms the stereotypes.

Oh man, what do people love about MLP:FiM... well, the characters are all really good. Almost everyone has a favorite even! The music is also really good, if you've only seen the first two episodes then boy are you in for a treat once you get to S1 E11 and onwards. The storylines are also pretty relatable most of the time, especially S1 I'd say in tthat department. There's definitely a lot more to it, such as every season having a slightly different feel(which you do not get with a lot of other kid's shows mind you, at least not always in a good way like here) but you really just gotta keep watching the show to really dive in to that stuff. It's adorable and the characters are great, especially Twilight and Rarity.   The animation is also fairly well done and the designs of fantasy world and the characters themselves are pretty to look at.

Because it delivers great depth in a simplistic way. It treats its audience intelligent enough to realize the deeper meanings of each action without having to go through lengths just to get something across. For a "cartoon" that was originally aimed at kids, it manages to deliver a good message across different ages. 

 

Though to be fair, each one of us find something different to love about a show (or any other thing). It's an entirely different experience for each of us. I hope you'd continue to watch to your heart's content until you find what the show means for you

Very addicting, ponies are adorable, funny, makes me feel angry sometimes, teaches about friendship *I hope one day I show this to my 2 brothers and they learn about friendship*, very creative, good music, emotions, etc.

It´s also a pretty fresh idea, a show without much violence, focusing more on positive aspects.

(well it isnt so much of a new concept, i guess,it just hasn´t been executed as well in the past)

 

the characters are interesting and not 1-dimensional, which leaves plenty of room for fan-created content.

 

now we get to the actual "fun" part.

the community.

 

Art and music produced by the fandom is awesome,it´s the actual reason why people do something as ridiculous as calling themselves fans of a pony show.
