When the doors open, Malachi looked up and out the door. At the end of the hall he saw the gorgeous he saw outside. Next to her was a blue  stallion with glasses. As as his demon eye focused on the stallion he could see a large cloud of darkness surrounding him. With very little drips of light. Malachi's eye also started to glow while his smirked got big enough that it showed off some of his sharp teeth.

 

He didn't kneed to ask to know when the stallion was. Malachi brushed past Sakuya,  as if she was nothing but air, and made  his way towards the stallion. The smoke from his cigar seeped out his mouth and nose like a dragon as his eye got brighter. Malachi was now fully grinning not caring that his sharp teeth were showing. When he got just a few feet from the stallion he spoke. "Mr. Ennex, I presume?"

Riley turned around to see who would come out of the elevator. "Hey there, Anala!" he greeted. "Who are these fellas you have with you?"

 

Anala blinked. "Riley? What are you doing he-" She suddenly stopped when he noticed the hole in the ceiling. Her eyes half-lidded. "Don't answer that."

Years of corporate board meetings allowed Ennex to maintain a neutral face, while watching Malachi's display.  He simply stepped forward.  "Yes, I am Ennex," he said.  "And you would be?"

 

With a sigh, Sakuya pushed past the stallion, moving to stand next to her boss.  "His name is Malachi," she said, giving him an angry look, "Part of the Semi Family," she lowered her head a bit, "and.. a punk."

 "Well that ain't nice. I like to think myself as more of a eccentric. But anyway, like the lady said, I'm Malachi Semi, a Caporegime for the Semi family." He sad as he took another puff of his cigar and blew the smoke away from the ponies faces, so not to be rude. "You probably haven't heard of my but I think you're acquainted with my old man, Semiazas."

Riley looked at the cigar that the stallion had. It was rather eye-catching, after all. And before Anala could stop him, Riley trotted over to the stallion.

 

"I don't smoke, but can I just say what a cool cigar that is?" he asked rhetorically. The next batch were not, however. "Like the one ponies in the movies use! Are you here to sign a contract to do with movies? Does that cigar have a hidden weapon inside it or something?"

"Semiazas, yes" Ennex replied, "I was once contacted by his group."  He smiled.  "Organized crime.  Something that I have tried to avoid myself."  He waved a hoof around the room.  "That's why I've taken great pains to keep my Organization as legit as possible, at least as far as the law is concerned."  He frowned.  "But they don't seem to like the fact that I am operating independently from the Families."  

 

As Riley started talking to Malachi, Ennex turned to speak to Sakuya, keeping his voice low so that the others could not hear.  "I need to speak with you about a new contract."

 

"Oh," she asked, "What kind?"

 

"Something I believe you will enjoy," he said, the wicked smile returning to his face...

Before he could reply to Ennex, a short red Pegasus started talking about his cigar and himself. Malachi looked at his cigar and then smiled at the energetic stallion. "I guess it is kinda cool now that I think about it. And no, I'm not here to sign a movie contract." Then the scratched is chin. "No, there isn't a hidden weapon in it. But that is not a bad idea..." He thought about a little more and chuckled and pat the stallions shoulder. "I like you." He pulled out another cigar and tucked it behind the stallions ear. "Here's one for yourself, whenever you feel like taking up smoking." He gave another smile and looked back towards Ennex.

 

"Well, I can respect that. Even though I'm a Semi I'd like to  branch out by myself and start my own family, while being loyal to my old mans, of course. Anyway, maybe I could help you out sometime. Be it to scare someone into or out of a deal or something else. I like to stretch my roots as far as I can." He he chuckled again.

Anala pulled Riley away, picked his new cigar and chucked it out of the window, and gave him a good punch in the face. "YOU! IDIOT!" she screamed. "That guy is part of organised crime! You just helped him out with whatever filthy deeds he's got planned!"

 

"I didn't know..." was all that Riley knew to say.

 Malachi looked towards the white mare and red stallion. "Oh, don't be like that, Bianco.  My line of work may not be within the confines of the law, but that don't make me a bad guy. " He walked towards them. "And don't be so hard on the kid, you cant call someone an idiot just because they didn't know something. That's just mean. " He shook his heat and made tsk-tsk sounds.

While the others were distracted, Ennex turned back to Sakuya.  "Before all of this-" a glance at the others "-activity, I had a meeting with a Pegasus named Clearsky."

"From Cloudsdale Weather?" she asked, and upon his blank stare, "What?  Who do you think has been managing things when you're out on a bender?"

He chuckled.  "Point.  Anyway, he came to me to set up a new contract."

"Oh?" she asked.  "What for?"

"Simple," he replied.  "We're going into the rainbow-making business...."

"The what-business?" Sakuya asked, a confused look on her face.  
"We'll discuss it later," he replied, before moving past her to approach the other ponies.  "Alright everypony," he said, "as much as I enjoy entertaining, I think that the office here is getting a bit cramped."  Walking over to the elevator, he pressed the call button.  "Perhaps if we adjourned to the lobby?"

"I don't know about any of you, but we're getting our flanks outta here," said Anala bluntly, her eyes shifting to shoot a glare at the pony with a cigar. She grabbed Riley by the ear and started to drag him towards the elevator.

 

Riley managed to break himself free.

"I'll take them down," said Sakuya, moving past Ennex, Loveless, and Malachi.  As the elevator doors opened, she lead Anala and Riley inside.  "Be back later," she said to Ennex, and pushed the Ground Floor and Door Close buttons.  After a moment, the doors closed, and the room began its decent.  "Well, she said, looking to the two ponies with her, "that proved more interesting then most mornings around here."  She hooked a hoof back to the ceiling.  "Sorry for pulling you out so fast, but I was getting a bad vibe from that stallion..."

"Apologise? You deserve thanks for pulling me out so fast," said Anala. "And whatever bad vibe you were getting from him, I'm sure mine or more or less the same."

 

She leaned over and whispered into Sakuya's ear. "I know my friend here is totally cool with it, but he's the sort of pony who would make a mess on the floor if he got locked in the bathroom."

Sakuya chuckled, and turned to the Pegasus.  "So," she asked, "what brings you to our tower?  You don't peg me as a normal client that visits Ennex here."

The elevator doors closed, and Ennex turned to face Malachi and Loveless.  "Well," he began, moving back towards his office door, "Now that that's been settled, why don't you two join me in my office.  Perhaps you could both describe what brought you to my building today?"

"I fell through the roof," said Riley with a smile and without the slightest hint of pessimism in his voice. "I was napping ona cloud, and I woke up to discover I was falling, and what do you know? I landed straight into the building!" he explained. "My tongue landed on the ground, so I got to taste the floor. I think it was... Osmane cleaning products?"

"Cleaning products?  Osmane?"  Sakuya shook her head.  "I guess so.  Not really sure what the cleaning staff uses."  He seems a bit... odd, she thought, giving him a quick once-over with her eyes.  Almost... innocent.  Like a colt.  She turned to Anala.  "I get the feeling you two know each other," she said.  "Old friends?"

"Yup!" said Riley. "How about the story of how we first met?"

 

"On the first day of a new school year, a bully was trying to take my lunch money. Anala noticed, and she... er..."

 

"Punched that low-life bully right in the face which his mother was stupid enough to give birth to," finished Anala.

 

"Anala, I was just about to think of a less mean way to say it..."

Sakuya laughed.  "Hey, no need to sugarcoat it," she said.  "I've done worse to ponies for less myself."  She smiled.  "At the least, you got an good story out of it."  The elevator came to a stop, and with a DING the doors opened.  She stepped out into the lobby, leading the other two.  Suddenly, the two guards who were assaulted earlier came up, but she waved them off.  "It's under control," she said, and, with wounded pride, them moved away.  "Anyway," turning back to her new friends, "got anyplace in mind to head to?"

Riley thought about that for a few moments. "Anala, Sakura, guards... anypony up for McDockald's?" he asked. "I heard that they're doing a special kind of hayburger that's only out for a week."

 

"I've known him long enough to tell you that he's got a big appetite," said Anala.

"Sounds like it," Sakuya replied, leading them back outside into the daylight.  The city was alive with activity, with ponies of all types and colors rushing around the streets.  Pausing for a moment, she turned to the other two.  "I guess I could go for a hayburger," she replied, and motioned in front of her with a hoof, "Lead the way..."

Riley lead his companions to the McDockald's restaurant, conveniently a few yards away.

 

The first thing he noticed was that the line was longer than a detention back in school.

 

"I know how to get past this," he said. He put on a false police officer's uniform. "Cops get extra privileges. And you two can be civilians."

 Malachi blew out some more smoke as he followed Ennex. "To be honest, I just came here to talked to the mares. That mare of yours, Sakuya. She's a real firecracker I tell ya." She chuckled and took another puff from his cigar. "But now that I got to meet you, my offer to help ya is still open."

"A cop?" Sakuya asked, turning to Anala.  "You really think that is going to work?"

"Yes, she is," Ennex replied, entering his office.  "i would watch yourself with her, as she has a lightning-quick temper."  He smiled, while moving behind the wooden desk.  Behind him, a large window offered a view of the Manehattan skyline, with the river just a few blocks away.  "But enough about the girls.  Tell me," he sat back in his green leather chair, "What kind of 'help' can you provide?"  He studied the other stallion.  Perhaps he could talk his father into a loan, he thought, then I could get the new casino project started ahead of schedule...

Malachi sat in a chair that was in front of Ennex's desk after taking off his bags. He opened his bag and knock some of the ash off his cigar in it.  "I could help with lots of things. If someone is having a little trouble deciding on a deal and they need a little...'incentive' I can be very persuasive. Security not quite up to par, my crew is more then capable to keep your assets safer then the royal crown. Need someone to.. take a very long 'vacation'? I know the best cleaner in the biz. Or maybe you're a little low on bits, I can help with that as well. And I assure you, my deals are nothing but fair. " He said while he twirled his bat.
