Metemponychosis 1,262 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 I've seen a few OCs with this pattern that weren't anything like that. I didn't say that all of them are like that. I said that this tends to be the case and that people seem to not like this. https://www.fimfiction.net/user/32864/Metemponychosis For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out. And I'm just getting started.
ThatOneComrade 1,092 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 I think it's because black and red OCs have a bad reputation of being Mary Sues href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">
Envy 6,370 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 When I think of red and black mane designs I automatically think of clashing colors that do not fit into the aesthetic of the show at all. Red and black don't always clash, of course, but the pony creator versions that are coming up in my mind definitely do. 1 Everything needs more woodwind! Castle Bleck 19,440 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 (edited) Only guys it's ever really worked for are King Sombra, Lord Tirek (both versions), the Sith, and Shadow The Hedgehog. Anyone else, and it just screams, "1'M L42Y!!!" Edited November 24, 2014 by A.V. By @Emerald Heart.↑
[NULL] 907 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 (edited) Because it's been done to death. On top of seeing the generic Darth Maul / Shadow the Hedgehog colour scheme over and over again, they usually have a "tragic" angsty backstory where their parents were killed three days before retirement, or they're a demon or something, and they usually hate everyone for no other reason than "drama!" Seriously, who in their right mind these days would make an OC with red hair and a dark coat, make them extremely cynical and pessimistic towards others? Pfft. Bronies these days. Pinkamena-Pills 6,840 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 Because subjective artistic opinionated reasons. Honestly, i personally couldn't care less. Oatmeal, are you crazy?! "Silly, you are already under my control."- Pinkie Pie Signature made by me, because resistance truly is futile, silly. Currently still undergoing maintenance. Yes, i can do that, im a program, silly.
sweetolebob18 728 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 I live under a rock on the dark side of the moon. I don't have any problem w red + black & wasn't aware anyone else did either. It's Sunset Shimmer's color & it doesn't bother me. To me, black & red reminds me of a checker board. Before I learned to play chess, I liked to play checkers & was fairly good at it. Sceethe 704 November 24, 2014 Share November 24, 2014 pure black is almost never found in hair colors, it would mean that the material is either so dark that it doesn´t even reflect the slightest bit of sunlight or that, for whatever reason, sunlight is not hitting that part of the hair. which we already know that it is, from the red part. that´s why it looks weird and unnatural. a very dark blue does the job ten times better. They call me Loyalty 1,952 November 29, 2014 Share November 29, 2014 It's not just color pattern, this combinations means so much more. And most of it, isn't actually good.
