gaming How the Minecraft community has gotten worse.

I just feel like they should be doing what they want and not what everyone else wants them to do.

But what they want is money and to get that money, they do what everyone wants them to do, to get subscribers and more views.

I touched the game once for multiplayer to see what it's like

I played single player and it was meh

Never touching the game ever again.

Just all my iq is gone, my brain cells gone, I get nightmares from the one time I play multiplayer, the stupid amount of spam when a youtuber is on. The insults the other players give I mean fcking Christ, if you allow your kid to swear and call people f***** and q**** and all other homophobic and insulting names then you have failed as a parent to be responsible for your child's life. Fcking brilliant, the community is nearly as bad as the call of duty community is.

I loved MC, and still do, but...idk, I just kinda liked it better in the old days before it was a pop culture way of life, with mountains of merch and playsets being advertised in the paper.  I liked when it was an under-the-radar, PC only gem.  And of course now that it's fallen to Microsoft, all hope is lost.

You still have a lot of good vanilla youtubers so thats a misconception. I have to agree that most of the lets play nowadays are multiplayer centered so I cant deny that part. But just look at some of the hermits from hermitcraft, you find like every type of vanilla player there, builders like Xisuma, redstone users like tango and mumbojumbo and some people who just make insanely big projects. There is also other servers like the mindcrack one. you also have some others which are mostly used for streaming like the buildguild where I know Shyboy and Dethridgecraft streams.

Anyway I havent been able to play on random servers in ages, because as you sayd I feel like the general community has gone downhill. There is also the modding community which has gotten slow compared to what it used to be, updates on mods use months instead of weeks as it used to be, I also think that finding a texture... I mean resource pack that you actually like has gotten harder too, it seems that you now just have to find the perfect overlapping textures instead. I used to like Gerodoku Faithful and Codecrafted, but the new ores like diorite and granite looks simply terrible in this one, So i will have to try and find something I like better.

I really used to love watching Coestar back when he was doing his survival single player letsplay. Now I just watch whatever I feel like watching.

But at the end of the day my main problem is that I have no friends or anyone I really know who plays the game, not the community itself.

I've taken part in a lot of Minecraft playing. I used to be addicted to that game.

I see what you mean by the YouTubers being "slaves to their fans." Most likely they are going to do what their fans want because some of them depend on YouTube to pay for groceries and other every day needs. No views means less money which also means no food or other things. I'm not saying they're all poor people but I've heard some YouTubers talk about how YouTube is something that gives them the majority of their money.

I also agree with you on the little 12 year olds. I used to watch a lot of Minecraft trolling videos. God they're hilarious. XD

But seriously, the Minecraft community is changing. It's sad that the little kids infect the gaming community. But, more money for the companies in their eyes. They don't care. And there really isn't anything we can do about it. :T

You also can thank the Call of Duty franchise for creating these little bastards

wat

I don't play Minecraft anymore because I find it extremely boring, but there was plenty of little clueless 12-year old kids back when it came out on the PC, including elitist alpha-testers, badmins, exploiters, hackers and so forth.

The Minecraft community was already bad.

Vanilla Minecraft is extremely formulaic anyways. Call me uncreative, but my new playthroughs consist of me punching a few trees, crafting the essentials, making either a wooden house or a hole in a hill or a mountain, getting enough materials while surviving, building a better home, gaining an effecient source of food, etc. After a while I become bored, make a new world sometime later, and then the cycle continues.

What I did recently was set out to get 100x100x100 cubes of every block obtainable in the game.

That's why I preferred playing in smaller communities, but I left once I found out these kids were stealing my horses P: The mods tried to help but then the kids would just insult everyone until they got banned. It was tolerable at first, but then new jerks kept replacing them. Eventually I just left.

No it hasnt, if anything it has diverted some of the community over to xbox and shared the experience with more people. The only suffering parts are the forums, but even that you can't blame on the XBox/PS version alone. I agree the community has gotten worse, but thats more a direct result to the age of the game and how diverted it has gotten. The game was already full of trolls and kids back in alpha and there hasnt really been that much difference in that sense if you ask me.

I see you long for the original survival servers you and me are pretty opposite because on the 360 Edition we don't have the mods you guys use to create mini game worlds or servers and at least you guys can play with randoms after the third or fourth patch on our version they removed the option to play with randoms

also no matter what game it is there will always be an annoying child who thinks he/she is the shit don't blame the 360 Edition on that

Alright.

Maybe you can't blame Xbox for that, but there was certainly a decline in the maturity of the fanbase.

My point is that from I've personally observed, it wasn't always this bad.

neither can I don't worry I spend too much time editing my posts then this happens

let me try that again

basically what I was saying is you wish for older survival worlds, and us on the 360 Edition find survival worlds to be boring and wish for modded worlds

also the last thing I was saying was pretty clear you can't blame our version for annoying children

Actually Since 1.8 the community seems to have gotten better by a lot, all the minigames going around now is keeping people busy it seems. Now I know the command blocks weren't introduced in this patch, but a lot of new commands which broadened what you could do were.

  • 2 weeks later...

here's what i see in the minecraft community:

i see so, so many people creating cookie-cutter factions/skyblock/ "custom" servers and wasting good cash, eventually failing miserably because of the bigger servers taking their server population.

i also see the letsplayers abusing this infertile wasteland which has been trodden by thousands of others letsplayers before them. to date, Minecraft has been one of the most letsplay'd games in history.

plus we have the le edgy xDDD minecraft griefer groups. a griefing group? seriously? "lmao i can code in java that means i'm a pro grifer!!!! ;^)"  what a gimmick.

another thing i'd like to say is the game design itself. i don't really have a problem with it, but i'd like to put in my pretty penny. the voxel design and pixelated world proves fascinating and vintage, but it screeches "I WANT TO BE DIFFERENT! LOOK AT ME GUYS, I'M RELEVANT!"

but on the flip-side, you have the freedom to create any structure/thing which stems from your creativity, or just survive and construct a statue dedicated to bob, the god of gravel. bless him.
