You know how Hasbro unintentionally makes you ship Twilight and Sunset Shimmer in Rainbow rocks? At the end of Looking for Alaska, when Chip and Miles are in their room, contemplating

Alaska's death

something inside of me just smirked evilly and said "What if Chip liked Miles the whole time and..." And I'm like "NOOOOooooo!" but it's too late. I have shipped them. Did anyone else feel this??

Ah, I remember that book! We had to read it several years ago in English class. As good as it was, I do prefer "A fault in our stars" myself. (Written by the same author)

I didn't really ship anybody in the book because, well you know. Halfway through she dies, and then it's just depressing until the end.

I think I liked Papertowns best out of all his books because

Margo doesn't die.

I don't know, maybe I'll prefer will grayson, Will Grayson better.

@@Poet Flame, Edited your topic title, moved to the correct location and added some spoiler tags. Since this already seems to have morphed into a general John Green book thread, I opened it up to a broader topic.

That being said, I would consider myself a nerdfighter, and I really enjoyed the first book I read of his, which was Looking for Alaska. When I read Fault in our Stars, I was slightly disappointed. I felt like he had taken the same premise

fundamentally flawed teens, and put them into a situation where one was bound to die. Mix in some pithy writing, and bam, you got a book.

Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic author, and indeed, I look up to him a lot. However I think he has a lot more options for topics to explore other than death. The general theme of his readers is that the first John Green book you get your hands on will inevitably be your favorite.

@@Jeric Let's see if we can't get some more conversation in here.

I haven't read Will and will yet but I'm in the process of it. Tiny Cooper is just absolutely hilarious, but I just can't imagine him as anyone other than Damien (from mean girls). And BTW, I have no idea to make that spoiler button thing, so whoever has been editing our posts, thanks :D And, since I read Looking for Alaska just before bed, I dreamt of a scene where (insert spoiler I guess?) Miles and Chip are talking about Alaska and then Chip goes all emotional and starts trying to imply that he was jealous of Alaska and Miles' relationship without up and saying he likes Miles. I, personally, usually hate gay ships (but only when the ship doesn't make sense, not because I'm a homophobe) but...I don't know, my brain just decided to ship them without my consent. Sorry Mr. Green, but I think I might have ruined your book XD lol. I think his best book is Will and will so far but I'll have to finish it to decide.

I've read The Fault In Our Stars and Looking for Alaska. Both of them made me cry in a good way, so I'm hoping to get hold of Paper Towns or An Abundance of Katherines next!

  • 6 months later...

I love Paper Towns!! The movie is hilarious also. I saw the "Night on the Towns" premire event, it was great!

Whenever I try to read it I get confused or bored (as I usually do with any book) but I really want to get around to reading it XD.

As for the Miles X Chip thing, that was the first inkling of my shipper nature and now I'm an open McPriceley shipper XD.

Is he going to write any more books, by the way? I don't follow him or watch his videos (except for crash course) so I'm not sure.

Why? It's such a good book! Like I said, I love the movie as well, but I don't advise watching it before you read the book. It's much more fun to know and appreciate the differences. But it's definitly a must-see!!

I still haven't seen The Fault in Our Stars...

...

I'm allergic to sadness...

Also I hope John Green writes more books. But he seems to be focused on making a lot of his books into movies now, I think Looking For Alaska is next.

I've seen TFIOS, don't worry. I didn't get the feels. Granted, when I got around to reading it, it had already been spoiled like a million times by my arsehole friends. XD

And I really wanna read Paper towns but I'm so busy with dumb librettos and stupid crap like that that I have no time :(

OMG MAKE THAT LFA MOVIE NOW I MUST HAVE VISUAL AID FOR MY POWER POINT ON WHY TO SHIP CHILES.
