If it makes you feel any better, i'm still studying for my Bachelor's (i'm 24), and i see people on their first year who are in the beginning of their Thirties. If you have a knack and a liking for the subject, you shouldn't feel any shame at trying your hand in it, regardless of age or what not. And autism doesn't translate to stupidity.

I feel so young compared to all of you.....

I'm just starting out. Really young. But I hope I can do my best. And I still feel that my disorder makes me not as smart as others.

Well, I was diagnosed with Autism back in 2013 so its been a litle hard on me adjusting but i try.....

IDK...I like medeival studies i guess.....

But Greko-Roman is cool to.

Quite the smary aren't you? No offense.

:)

I was never like that. I never wanted to be that...i guess because it made me unconfortable after a while...

Besides im not really that smart anyway. I don't like to really boost my moral much because I feel bad. :P

But I'm trying to get there myself.

I wish, these are just hopes. im good with the knowledge but when it comes to writting styles i just zone out and end up with D's and E's :muffins:

I hope you continue to try, you will be better for it! I wish you the best of luck :) If this is any consolation at all, I have been dealing with depression before and through my 4 years of uni study and I graduated top of the class for both degrees. :) I know it's not the same by the way, just try not to count yourself out ;) After all, in the words of Dolly Parton: "if you take yourself out of the game, how are you ever gonna win?" :icwudt:

Medieval studies are a fascinating area of study, I wish I had the chance to pursue this further (I was actually accepted on to a MA course for Medieval History, but I decided to continue studying my BA subject of Classics instead).

If i could return to the age of 19 or 20, i would do it in a heartbeat. I wasn't the same as i am today, with direction, at ease with myself. Back then you can say i was still discovering myself. So i think it's great that you have a real aspiration at your age, and you should pursue it. Your young age is an advantage, in my opinion. As for your disorder, try not to latch on to thinking about it if it troubles you so much, instead focus on the more important things around you, the imminent things - it'll help you keep on track with studying.

Depression really gets to me though being really unproductive most of my days.

Well, to be honest, Mister, I still have a lot of catching up to do before I can return to college.....
So I'm gonna always be behind a lot. I also feel like I'm gonna be a bachelor for a while.
:\

Oh well.....

Mister? I'm not THAT much older than you :P

Still, don't sweat it. Behind or not, late or not, it won't be stopping you from showing your potential when the moment arrives, right? I say cheer up and look forward.

:(

And I guess so.....

IDK why I feel like.....my college life will be just as sad as my life is now.

@, I just remembered a series of books that I thought I should recommend. Cambridge University Press published a series called 'Key Themes in Ancient History' in which each book serves as an introduction to a particular subject. You might want to check these out to see if any of the topics appeal to you, they require no prior background knowledge either. ;)

Double clicked the text of your post and the option came up ;)

By the way, these books are not just published/released in England. As far as I know, they are also available in North America. :)

I do not have much in the way of actual training, but I do love learning about history, well to be more specific certain periods and subjects of history. I have also found quite a bit  of enjoyment in people who write historical pony fiction.

I love archeology. I’m not a scientist but a history buff and I love seeing how things worked in ancient times, and how people thought and interacted. There’s been some amazing stuff done in the past; stuff no one could even comprehend doing nowadays without a computer to do the math, and it’s all because of logic, common sense and thinking. History has had some great thinkers, and I love to see the result of that. The original post in this thread suggests archeologists and artists being separate entities, but history is full of beautiful art, architecture, music and writing. It’s the whole tapestry of human development and it’s beautiful.

I'm a history student and reenactor who specialises primarily in Viking and early Medieval periods. I work in a museum, so most of my professional hours are spent around archaeology. It's absolutely fascinating how much we can learn from what was left behind, and how much we are often influenced by it. Osteoarchaeology in particular is a very fun area: studying human remains and attempting to build a profile of who someone might've been when they were alive. There are often many minute details one might view as incidental that are actually significant clues when studied and compiled with other evidence, and I love the satisfaction of putting the pieces together to learn something new. Likewise, it gives me a great appreciation for just how well things have been created and designed, including life itself! ^_^
