If Celestia doesn't appear in the upcoming Season 5 premiere....

Again so? It's not all about Twilight.

Alright, fine. The mane six no longer need her. Happy?  >_>

You believe that a character that is not needed RIGHT NOW will never be needed again.

I'm not saying she won't be needed again. But I just don't see it happening because McCarthy (the showrunner) seems to hate her, and the only alicorn the writers seem to care about now is Twilight. Do you really think Celestia will still be relevant to show if she goes throughout season 5 making even fewer appearances than she did in season 4? Like I said, I really don't see her making appearance in the premiere since she isn't the mission giver, unless there's a scene at the end where she congratulates the mane six after they've restored the town's cutie marks and saved the day. I probably don't have much reason to expect that she'll appear in the finale either, or any other episode in the season.

Sorry, but I think she's done.

That's actually a good thing. It doesn't mean Celestia has become useless.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what it means. Her lack of presence in season 4 and Rainbow Rocks clearly illustrates that the show can easily go on without her, and that there's nothing that she provides that Twilight can't provide for herself.

Maybe not in the premiere, but she has a high chance of appearing in the season. Luna is getting her own episode, and if Lulu is getting her own episode, i'm sure Tia is safe.

As far as I know, no word has been spoken by the animation staff or writes that Celestia is on the way out. Within the context of the show, Celestia is supreme ruler. Just because she isn't featured in every episode, that doesn't mean she isn't important to their world. Applejack is not the only farmer in Equestria. Just because others are not featured, that doesn't mean they aren't there.

It's still possible that she can make cameos every now and then. It's just that season 4 pretty much acted like she did not exist at all. She appeared in Princess Twilight Sparkle, her voice was heard briefly in Castle Mane-ia, and after that, she wasn't seen until Equestria Games, where her appearance was merely a cameo at best.

Exactly how important do you deem a character who is capable of going almost an entire season without making an appearance, with no actual detriment to the show whatsoever?

The problem of Celestia is that she was a higher authority and a pony that Twilight's was always looking up for. She was always a part of Twilight "motivation". In S1 the most important thing for her was to spen tim with her mentor at the Gala, this was Faust vision.

After Twilight become alicorn princess herself and saved the world 5 more times than Celestia, then her angelic aura have vanished because we seen her as less competent and weaker than her former student. Twilight is now a better Alicorn than other 3 because she do a lot more than just raising Sun and the Moon. Even Cadance is more developed than Royal Sisters.

507 may be something Celestia related. That's the number for Larson's Princess Pile card hint, and sometime early in recording, but not the first episodes recorded, Nicole was part of a recording session for one of Larson's script, so that could match up with 507.

Incidentally, Britt McKillip, who I believe lives in Vancouver, was not part of the session, even though Tara Strong was able to fly up to Vancouver to do the recording in person, which to me suggests that the princess episode doesn't involve Cadence.

Thank god, I'd rather none of them but Larson even TRY writing Celestia.

It's kinda funny, about 2/3 of the way through season 4 I was actually thinking "Hey, what if Celestia's actually been kidnapped, or is off doing something really important that will come in later, and that's why she's been conspicuously gone all this time?" and thought it would be really neat for anyone who noticed. But nope, there she was at the Equestria games, sitting perfectly still like a cardboard cutout.

Once again screen-time is not the sole factor of a character's worth.

You really should read the secondary sources as they make ample use of Celestia while expanding upon the character.

Celestia clearly has far more use to the staff than she does to you at this point, and that's the only voice that matters truth be told, and  I am not surprised to see you make such complaints as it seems like missed several key points or you have taken things out of context and distorted to make such faulty and emotionally charged assertions.

Seems to me like you are stuck in the past and can't handle change as character's roles evolve with changing circumstances.

Nor is Celestia useless to Twilight and I find it insulting you would trash their relationship like that. Twilight still has to take orders from Celestia and she still values her as a mentor and a pony to look up to even

All I can say is thank goodness fans are not allowed to work the show or comics as they operate under a short term perspective while the staff tends to see things in the big picture. It might not be handled perfectly.

That's actually kind of laughable, no offense. How much the character shows up is almost entirely how their worth to the show is gauged. You can't actually be arguing that if she didn't show up at all, she's still a valuable character, can you?

Mmmh, maybe it's not the only one, but it's obviously the most important one.

People tend to forget a character who doesn't often appear in the episodes, no matter how much s/he is important to the show.

EDIT: Got owned by .

Celestia serves as the voice of pure goodness for the mane 6 to look up to. She is also essential and very interesting in the shows world building, such as the tale of the regal sisters. It would be nice if Celestia showed some flaws and became a character of her own, but it isn't REQUIRED. She's a supporting character who adds a great deal to the show, she's Twilight's mentor, she's the person who actually knows about the threats they have to face each 2 parter, and she shows a great deal of wisdom.

Sure she's not the greatest character in the world, and I wish she would show some personality, but she's not horrible. Her role in the story allows her to be perfect, even if it's not ideal.

Soon Celestia will step down and one of the princesses will take over. Maybe we might even have a new princess appear and try to take over by tyrant leadership, but then again she would be defeated and become another ally to equestria. Or Celestia will just turn physically spiritual and have the rest up to Princess Twilight to choose by herself. Right now Hasbro or even by any chance Lauren Faust could be watching us, but time will tell us when it comes around to the hour.

Without Celestia the kingdom of equestria could be weaken and all the enemies will rise to power and take that weakness to bring the Kingdom down. But later on the nation will rise again but this time as a nation like in fillydalphia or Manehatten.

I don't think we've seen anything to indicate she's ready to step down.  I think she rules until she can't.

I would really, really like to see Celestia royally screw up.  If she's gonna be a character that we actually care about, give her some flaws.  Right now, she's just flat.  Give us a reason to care.  As she is now, I don't care if she's not in the premier.

Since she will get an episode in the middle of a season, then i don't really expect writers to give her screentime in the premiere or finale. They try to slowly remove her from relevance anyway. So Twilight can take over in S6

You have to remember that Celestia has been running the show for quite a long time. She's been ruling Equestria since before she or Luna had thier CM's.

Twilight is still a new edition to the royal ranks, and each problem the kingdom runs into is pawned off to her to serve as a lesson/test.

Now that Twilight is officially bad-ass, she's more of a peer; which may mean that she (and the M6) can accompany Celestia/Luna on official business as opposed to going it alone.

Just a thought.

I really want to know if they are going to be bringing back villains from the previous seasons, such as trixie and film and flam. Are they going to do that in season 5? :/ :-)

I hear they're coming back in seasons 3 and 4 :)

Starswirl The Bearded hasn't shown up as an actual character at all, and he is very popular...
