Hey.

Were you ever curious about All Japan. The 5 star titan of wrestling in the 90s that seemed to go all over the place once the 21st century hit? Well wonder no more!

Vince McMahon has "stepped down" from his role as the CEO and chairman of WWE.

Temporarily.

What purpose does it serve bringing this to light on SmackDown with Vince in character as "Mr. McMahon"? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I say stepped down. He's still running creative. Steph is now the public face of the company and most likely the patsy once this all blows over. Nick Khan will take charge, but Vinny Jr will still dictate orders from afar.

I thought the patsy was Big Johnny. :dash:

Nah. Unlike Steph, he's too much of a useful yes man for Vinny to let go of for too long. He rehired this guy nine years after he was let go. He's standing atop the mountain with Vinny and Brother Love or he's gonna fall off the cliff with them.

Do you think this will lead to WWE being sold or the beginning of its demise?

Rest in Peace, Dave Hebner. May your legacy live on.

Doubt it. WWE makes too much money for Fox & Universal. They'll exert a bit more control but other than a reshuffling, they'll look to rugsweep this.

And which Hebner was he? The original or the twin?

That's true.

What's changing if Vince is still going to be doing things behind the scenes, his name wont be on an office door at WWE Headquarters?

Nothing. Vinny has stayed on top because his company, despite it's deep flaws, is a financial success. His ability to take wrestling, something that can attract a small but fiercely loyal fan base, and make it attractive to a broader, more casual audience that won't scrutinize it, cannot be underestimated. Wrestling isn't episodic in the minds of most WWE fans. What happened last week doesn't have a baring on the next week. They watch, tune out then do something else till next week. It's perfect. That success will be attributed to Vinny's successor, with the casual fan or even investor none the wiser.

Hey if dumpster fires like EA, Comcast and Nestlie can survive, for WWE this will be a walk in the park.

Then there's no point in "Mr. McMahon" bringing it up on SmackDown. Especially, if WWE want to keep this as quiet as possible.

Are ratings even relevant to WWE anymore?

I meant in the case of the quality Raw, SmackDown and NXT as TV shows.

Nope. But then again, little they do ever contributes.

I miss the days when WWE's developmental weren't all on TV and debuts would actually surprise me because I didn't know who the wrestler was.

Yeah the lack of brand split makes everything feel like the same show. Pair that with the forbidden door and both debuts and show jumps just feel so passe.

Who gives a crap about legada del phantasma showing up when New Japans united empire just crashed AEW?

It also doesn't help me to care when a lot of WWE's talent don't seem particularly interesting nowadays.

Plus, a lot of moves look slower to me which, makes sense to lower the risk of injury but a lot of moves nowadays seem less impactful

than it used to be.

That can be boiled down to a rigid script and no practice with improv. And slower moves are cause the match is in service to the story, not vice versa. A brutal road schedule that'd make the kings road guys cringe doesn't help.

I understand. I guess it's also how good/brutal the wrestlers make the moves look while performing them.

Their production style is also a hindrance. With everything so regimented and rehearsed, yet extremely sloppy direction thanks to camera cuts Kevin, nothing will look good, so why bother?
