Rainbow Power + Mega Evolution?

Sorry if this already exists, I could not find it when I was searching, but when I was re-watching the season 4 finale I noticed something that made me laugh a little, when the Mane 6 open the chest and they begin to change into their rainbow power (I think that's what it is called) it reminded me of Mega Evolution from pokemon (temporary form change, increased power etc.) I was wondering if anyone else thought about it that way.

If I have time and get round to it, I so want to get that small section and put the pokemon quote "Beyond evolution, MEGA EVOLVE!" just before it

Edit: just before they change form they get a weird orb around them, in pokemon a very similar effect happens

Yep, that's the same i thought. They were like "pokemon evolution" o most likely "Digimon" (i miss that song). Then i restart to breathe after the trasformation goes away.
