My Little PowerPoint

Nico

Recommended Posts

So my Microcomputer Applications professor wants everyone in my class to create a Powerpoint over anything we please to show that we understand how to create a professional looking presentation using Transitions, Animations and Backgrounds appropriately.

Sadly, we don't get to actually present these, and instead he just wants the Powerpoint set on a timer for him to view (I'm supposing privately, but I'm hoping in front of the class on the projector screen) and see if we got things right.

I created the background images for my Powerpoint to be simple and elegant, vibrant and evocative and remain thematic throughout. The layout for the slides' information is that which I would personally use were I to actually present this to anypony.

And, yes, my name is Nicholas. Sorry to disappoint everyone who thought I was actually Nicolai, but feel free to continue calling me Nico, as I prefer it anyway.

It was great. I really liked your backgrounds. One thing that I noticed that I thought was a nice touch, when the song starts to play a stringed instrument (violin maybe? I am no expert), Octavia is the background. One thing you might have mentioned about the music was that many of the songs were inspired by Broadway musicals.

I hope you get a good grade.

I really liked it. Very easy on the eyes, yet eye catching with the colors. Not too wordy or anything, but defiantly broadens the knowledge of some for good discussions. Sadly for me my computer wouldn't allow me to hear the music.

I hadn't even noticed the stringed instruments entering with Octavia. XD

I'm glad you liked it, and I hope I get a good grade too.

Let's hope your teacher is reasonable and doesn't subtract from your grade because it's ponies :)

He's a pretty lighthearted guy and he said we could pick ANYTHING, so I think it'll be fine.

Glad you liked it. ^^ It's a shame you couldn't hear the music, though. Crepuscularity is a beautiful song.

I am in love with this presentation. From the small stuff, how you showed the music title before the song began, all the way to the massive things like having crisp and sharp vectors of the characters. The music flowed perfectly in time with the slides as well as gave the overall presentation a nice and relaxed tone. I would be astonished if you received anything less than an A on this.

I must ask though, how did you do the backgrounds and had them come out so clean?

By the way, I loved the Octavia vector; she just looks so proud ;)

This was amazing! You made the backgrounds by yourself? One thing to correct maybe was I accidentally clicked and skipped a slide, so in power point (2010 at least) if you go into the transitions side, on the far right of the bar (under the "Advance Slide subsection) you should uncheck the "On mouse click" option :3 friendly advice!

Well, I'm glad you liked it so much. ^^

The backgrounds were made in Photoshop beforehand and placed into the Powerpoint. As for the vectors, some of them are ones I've vectored out myself and others are ones I pulled from deviantArt that are free to use. Sadly, Octavia was one from deviantArt. I would love to call that image my own, as I love her expression in it.

The vectors themselves are adjustable to any size at all without losing crispness, and that's their beauty. So that's how they stayed so crisp.

Ah, but you see, the timing was created using the 'Rehearse Timing' option, which simply records when you click through the parts and makes a timed show based off of it. It's much simpler than creating timers manually one by one. Just don't accidentally click while it's playing. XD

Thanks for the advice, though. It's the thought that counts. :P

It's great, but I think you probably should have mentioned a bit about the ponies (At least the mane 6) And the Elements of Harmony each represents. I absolutely loved the way you did the backgrounds with the coresponding ponies though, it made the whole thing wonderful to look at ^_^

I hope you get an "A", good luck!!! ;)

  • 5 months later...

I used ponies in one of my Spanish projects, I used sound and pitchers and everyone in the class and the teacher loved it. At the end I had the para sprite march and my teacher thought confetti was going to fly out from some were

Wow, that was fabulous. Simple, elegant, very professional, very eye-appealing, and it covered all the basics and then a bit more. Good thing I found this topic while still here at school, as I don't have PowerPoint on my home computer. Well done, was a pleasure taking the few minutes out of my life to watch it <3 I've always wanted to do a PowerPoint for one of the things I love for a class, and I did do a big thing on Sonic two years back, but it's not nearly as elegant as this.

I do have to disagree with one minor thing, though:

Anyway, very, very nice. *claps, resulting in all sorts of sounds*
