Ezekiel silently disagreed on that first notion, but he kept his judgment to himself. Certainly though Raiders wouldn't be the only ones to suffer such a fate if this virus and the plague masters what spawned it weren't stopped.

"Not a cannon no, just a simple box. Not even one bound by lock." He answered cryptically.

Crackshot turned his head to look aside at Ezekiel, raising an eyebrow. He was making this seem far too simple.

"A box?" He repeated sceptically. That sounded far too easy. "Fine. What is it and where do we find it?"

There was always a catch to these simple instructions. It was probably in a stable, or a Hellhound lair.

Chip jumped down from the tank joining Dashia on the ground. He saw her look around the area so Chip removed his extra scope from his bag and levitated it to his eye scanning the area.

"I feel Like we should get moving soon, I don't why but staying in one place doesn't bode well on in the wastes." He thought to himself.

He looked back at Dashia smiling as he put his scope back in his bag. He held is hoof out in front of him, "shall we" he said waiting to follow Dashia.

@@Unicorncob,

Ezekiel looked sadly out at the horizon, barren and stretching on as far as the eye could see, and sighed.

"How I wish I knew already of it's location, I'm afraid my task requires some investigation." He gestured the merc to follow him as he walked outside the barn to the spot he was confronted earlier, he had left his cloak, saddlebag, and sheathed sword there.

Crackshot tutted, curving his upper lip. He knew there would be a catch.

"It's never that simple, is it?" He muttered, following after Ezekiel.

The zebra walked him to where he'd spoke to him earlier, his gear strewn on the ground. He glanced down to the blade.

"Nice sword," he commented with a nod, lifting it up and unsheathing it in his magic, "So, any idea where to start looking for this box?"

The sword was a scimitar, polished and glinting in the light. The hilt reverse curved and gilded. The pommel had a ruby set in it.

"If the task is too much for you it need only be my mission, however I would ask before you pick up Khalid, you request my permission." Ezekiel's gaze became fiery and his tone cold.

Crackshot nodded, seemingly impressed with the sword's craftsmanship. He hadn't seen one like it before.

Upon noticing Ezekiel's glare of death, he returned the blade to its sheath and hovered it to him.

"Sorry," he muttered, admitting he may have crossed a line, "it's a pretty cool sword. Khalid, right?"

His small smirk returned. "Just because the mission is hard doesn't mean it's too much for me. So as I asked, any idea where to start?"

Ezekiel re-sheathed the weapon.

"Correct." He agree to speak on the subject of both his quest as well as his weapon later. He thought it was to patch things up with his other part members seeing as he would now be joining them on a perilous journey of their own.

Not realising that the weapon hadn’t been finished yet, Greshken walked off into an empty field to give it a test-run. To his disappointment, when he aimed it at a dead tree in the distance, there was only a ‘click’. Greshken groaned. Clearly he had been a little bit too eager to test the weapon, and should’ve asked Chip first. He felt awfully stupid now, and decided to walk back to the barn later, testing out the balance and weight of the weapon now that it was in his hands anyway.

He imagined the arc of the weapon being fairly small, since it was a relatively high-speed projectile fired from the long barrel. It would deal devastating damage, but aiming it at high distances would pose to be a problem, most definitely because he had a very limited supply of ammo. The cannon shells looked a lot like normal missiles, but they had a slightly different size and tip. Hopefully they’d be able to convert normal missiles into ammo for his cannon, otherwise it wouldn’t be useful for a very long time.

Walking back to the barn, looking for chip to tell him that he had been too stupid to realise that the weapon hadn’t been operational yet, but he didn’t seem to be around. Probably headed off with Dashia again. He placed the gun down near the tank again, making sure that Chip would be able to find it if he was going to work on it again. Greshken felt like he was quite heavily in debt to Chip now. He’d been working on his weapon for him for quite a while.

Though he looked like a cunning fellow, Greshken knew he would be able to trust Chip in time. But he still had his doubts about the entire group. Most especially about himself. He wasn’t sure if he was going to do any good by staying with them. Then again, it was them who asked him to help getting vengeance on the monsters that had created the virus in the first place. He decided he’d stay with these ponies for now. After all, they helped him recreate one of the most prized artifacts in the history of his people. It meant more to him than they realised.

Taking a moment to sit down and reflect, Greshken let himself fall back and sat with his back against the wall of the barn, looking out across the vast land around them. Crackshot and the zebra were talking with each other, but he couldn’t really be bothered about what. He still didn’t understand what the zebra was even doing here, but the others seemed to trust him. Greshken didn’t. And he wouldn’t for a long time.

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!

???: "ETA is Five Minutes Sir."

???: "Good good, and to what miscreants do I owe my gratitude to?"

???: "Well sir, our radar's have picked up six life forms in what appears to be a farm, four of them are emitting magical energy signatures and one of them is substantially larger than the rest."

???: "Ahh, I like the sound of that, inform them to bring in whatever that larger life form is back to me, ALIVE, if that's to no trouble of them of course."

???: "Yes Sir, I'll inform them straight away!"

Aile had been lost in though for some time, her gaze fixed on the blue, chilled pendant. From afar two heavily armed airships were closing in rapidly on the farmhouse, only ponies with perfect and augmented hearing/vision could detect these ships from this far of distance.

Crackshot nodded to Ezekiel, accepting the agreement, and let him walk off toward the barn to join the others.

Now that he was on his own, he had time to think some more.

He seemed to be getting along quite well with the zebra, and he hadn't had an attack either. That was a miracle.

Perhaps it was how civil and affable he acted toward him that was putting him at ease. Perhaps it was some kind of zebra trick to calm his mind without his awareness.

Either way, he was glad for it.

He glanced over toward where Greshken had gone, and curled his upper lip. The minotaur was a wild card, no doubt about it. He seemed to have the mind to turn on all of them in a moment's notice. But he'd be ready for it.

Though, him and Chip seemed to hit it off quite well, so maybe that isn't the case.

Speaking of Chip, it was nice to have somepony he could actually get along with. Right now, he was the closest thing to a friend he had. Dashia was loyal with a sense of justice, but her trustfulness could be considered a fault. And Aile, with all her sneaking around and disappearing, would need to be kept an eye on.

His ears flicked, as a small sense of distress came over him in the quietness.

"Something's not right," he muttered to himself, glancing around the horizon, "it's too quiet. We need to move."

He began trotting over to the others, mind set to tell them just that.

Chip returned to the barn after circling the area with Dashia. As he approached the barn he could see Crackshot heading toward them.

@@Scribblegroove

As Chip walked in front of the barn he noticed that Greshken had returned with the cannon. Chip walked into the barn "alright the cannon is back, how's the balance? How much of the turret hood do you I think I need to remove?" He questioned Greshken looking forward to start working again.

Dashia felt a sudden chill down her spine. The air shifted oddly to her. She looks around but can't see anything. She heads back to the others. "Everypony, the winds are shifting oddly. I am getting a bad feeling we have stayed too long here. Shall we gather ourselves and move out?"

Crackshot trotted up to the others, just in time to hear Dashia's warning. Seems she had a similar feeling.

"She's right," he nodded, looking around the group to refer to them all, "I have a bad feeling, that some serious shit's about to go down."

He looked to Chip. "If you're going to work on that cannon, make it quick."

Chip stopped before he reached the cannon "what do you guys think is coming? I can finish this quickly if I just connect the core and wire in a crude trigger. Otherwise I'd like to get the balance on it right to maximize accuracy." He said looking at the two. "Perhaps Dashia can get a bird's eye view of anything incoming."

Dashia says, "Less then a minute ago the winds shifted oddly. My instinks tell me to fly but they also tell me to be ready for one bucking hay barrel of a fight. Ezekiel can you ask the spirits to lend us all some of their power. Even if it a small amount. I have worked with wind and fire and water before. But that was during weather training."

The others can see how spooked she is about this warning. She feels their help will be repaid in full when she is able. Her will to protect showing strongest right now.

Chip saw how worried Dashia was, he looked back at Crackshot and back at the cannon "well then i'll focus on making this weapon bare minimal operational. It will have some balancing issues but I'm sure Greshken can pull it off." He said walking up to the cannon.

@@Scribblegroove

Chip removed the power core from where Dashia had set it and set it down beside him next to the cannon. "Greshken can you set this thing up on its side, I'm no where near strong enough to turn it." He asked looking back at Greshken.

The Airships zoomed past the barn with incredible speed, opening fire on anypony out in the open, their ship's guns armed with armor piercing rounds. The airship hoovered over the farmhouse, directly above the room Aile was inside, the sliding doors of the airships swung open violently and ropes were thrown out to the ground from the more badass looking ship, massive earth ponies donning intimating and advanced power armor slid down the ropes, they hugged the wall on the side of the house and made their way to the back entrance of the farmhouse to breach it from there, they had little interest in engaging long-term combat but would not hesitate to do so. A voice boomed from one of the airships, it sounded almost synthetic and void of any feeling "Do Not Involve yourselves! If any of you so much as move that will be treated as a hostile act!"

Chip heard the ships zoom over head, he looked through the holes in the barn to look at the ships. His jaw dropped at the level of technology these airships were.

Suddenly a loud voice emitted from the airship telling them not to move. Chip stayed put glancing back at the tank just in case if he'd have to make a dash for cover.

Crackshot's ears flicked at the sound of airships, and he looked up to see the huge badass ship hovering over the farmhouse, earth ponies clad in power armour lowering toward the back door.

"What, the, fuck?" He mouthed, ducking behind the wall as the ship opened fire, and listening as the clearly not-pony voice told them to not move.

He looked around to the others. "Where's Aile?"

He looked back to the farmhouse. "Fuck, fuck, FUCK."

He had to hope she'd get the hell out of there, or he'll go in himself.

"Everypony stay back." He ordered.

Ezekiel shielded his eyes from the bebris kicked up the the arrival of the airship. As the marauders repelled down and made their way into the domicile, he remembered that Crackshot was in there.

Sword sheathed at the ready, he sprinted to the armored attackers.

Chip was waiting patiently wondering what was going to happen to Allie who was still inside the farm house that was now being swarmed.

As he was pondering to himself he saw Ezekiel charging out with his blade at the ready. "Some pony stop him, otherwise that airship will turn him to pulp!" He exclaimed not wanting to see this situation turned into a full out war.

"We can't win against these guys, not with that air ship hovering above. Especially with these ponies equipped in advanced power armor." He thought to himself.

Crackshot glanced over and saw Ezekiel charging toward the farmhouse, his sword ready.

Chip cried out for somepony to stop him, but he had the right idea; Aile was in danger.

He had to look out of the ponies in his team, and that included her and Ezekiel.

Persuasion in his magic, he dashed after the zebra, sprinting to run at his side.

"Keep moving, make your moves spontaneous so the guns won't mow you down!"

Ezekiel nodded and did his best to zig zag with his ally, darting back and forth as he closed the distance to the armored ponies. His mind flew back to his instructors seemingly so long ago.

"Remember, the best block is to not be there in the first place." So Ezekiel took that advice to heart and tried to make it difficult for the enemy to draw a bead on either of them, even jumping and flipping off of slopes or debris to further confuse the gunners.
