Never thought i would ever do this, but....

THIS IS THE FIRST DIGITAL DRAWING I'VE EVER DONE.

Please keep that in mind.

Yes, it's sloppy. I didn't clean it up at all.

But i'm curious to see how many of you guys think i should switch from traditional to digital.

I think it's fantastic. I like both styles. If you're comfortable with digital drawing, I'd say go for it, as it allows for more experimentation and whatnot

Both have their ups and downs. Digital is more flexible. You have the freedom to remove errors, and switch elements on a whim. But traditional feels more real. With traditional art, you've gotta really pay attention to how each material reacts with others. There's no way to just flat cover an element. One of the hardest things for me to adapt to when switching, was the lack of being able to feel your pencil/pen reacting to the paper. In digital, regardless of how hard or soft you press the pen, it all feels the same.

That said though, I definitely prefer the digital medium. It's just so free, and has many abilities that traditional art lacks. I don't think traditional is any less skillful than digital, but I'd not be able to go back if I tried.

In relation to OP: Go with what feels better. Work on digital for a while, and see if you enjoy it more than traditional. Then just work on what you find best. The medium doesn't really matter, as the skill is in the artist themselves. /2deep

Why not maintain both to some regard? Drawing in general helps refine your abilities and helps you come up with ideas. In my case, I tend to doodle with traditional art and work on sketching out problem areas that I am having with something that I am trying to tackle in digital. There is even the option of drawing something traditionally, scanning it, and then going over it with digital. I see this as a means of proofreading your drawing as with the new medium will cause you to notice problems that you didn't see before. The big plus to that is that you'll have a traditional and a digital copy of the drawing. I've only just recently switched almost exclusively to digital as I feel that I've transitioned comfortably, but your mileage may vary.

As other people have mentioned before, digital is liberating in its freedom, but there is a nice feeling behind pencil and pen to paper, or in some cases, the ability to look at exactly the drawing and not a circle on the screen.

Can I ask what program you are using and if you have a tablet?

The artwork looks quite good. The detail around the eyes and mane are nice as well. Great work.

I agree with the posters here that you should do what feels better and more comfortable for you to work with.
