Mane Six in Ultra Minimalistic

Well I played with a minimalistic style before but I wanted to have a go at pixel art again and see how minimalistic I could go and still properly represent the individual characteristics.

 

 

My first try got each pony down to an 18x18px square.

 

 

 

 

 

I figured I could do better then that though and tried to go even smaller. I got down to 8x8px

 

 

 

 

 

I think I could still get a bit smaller, but I would have get totally abstract to pull it off. Also for anyone intrested, here they are in there actual size, for comparisons sake.

I did'nt know that you could make some thing so low rez and still be able to tell what it was, these would also make great paintings in minecraft.

I'm not experienced with Atari 2600 game programming, but I hear it is very challenging.

I like the 18x18 pieces.  I'm fond of pixel art in general.  *Cough* Old school gamer *cough*...  Also, I've got a cough.

 

I didn't make pixel ponies, but I made a pixel slice of pizza.

 

And pixel...  Cakes.

 

I don't know why I made pixel foods.

Ya I am just a fan of pixel art too, I wish I was better, it is the only art style I really played with before my starting about a month ago now. It was fun and time consuming but most of what I made wouldn't have been good enough for most real projects, I mostly liked it for short looping animations, but this was many years ago now.

 

Anyway, glad you like and ya, yay pixel art.

Oh, no she does, I used the base color of her mane, which is actually quite light apparently, that is actually after I added a bit of extra saturation. I suppose I could have gone a bit darker with it, but that would have broken the pattern I had used on the rest of them. But ya, I totally noticed what you're talking about.

 

Trust me, there is color there! Haha. Perhaps I just picked a reference image that had some off color to start with.
