Lordy noticed Spellblinds reaction... Or un-reaction to the smoke. He took out the small box and opened it, revealing 7 more cigars, he pointed it towards Spell.

 

"You want one?" He asked with a small smile on his face. With his other hoof he reached in his pocket, revealing a decorated golden lighter.

It seemed Lordy had noticed Spellbind's indifference to the smoke.

 

"No thanks, I don't smoke," she declined, trying to sound as not impolite as possible.

 

What would they do now that the beast was gone? Spellbind wasn't a fighter, she had helped out in other ways.

"Lordy, I don't mind ye smoking here but just not too often and especially don't smoke around the canons and the gunpowder." Caramel said with a smile. Caramel then turned towards Tyra again "The monster is definitely not slain, it might be hurt. But that doesn't matter since we probably won't see it anymore anyway. Right now, we're heading towards that shipwreck we were suppose to go to in the first place. After that we can just take the normal route home without sailing through Deadmares cross. So we won't be seeing that monster again. Or at least I hope so."

"Never worry, my friend!" Tyra grinned, putting her arm back around Caramel, "We have shown that demon not to even think of challenging us again! For if it tries, we shall come forth and finish it off! Its treasures shall be ours!" She added with a laugh.

 

She turned her head and noticed Spellbind sitting with Lordy. She'd been rather quiet, as if she was troubled by something.

"Is something the matter, friend?" She asked, her grin fading into a look of concern, "You seem a little troubled."

Spellbind sighed. "No, nothing's the matter," she said. In truth, she was always troubled by one thing or another, but she didn't share it with other ponies. Deep down, she liked getting attention and ponies feeling sorry for her. She did worry she was annoying them though.

"Aye, Spellblind. Come sit with us, have a drink while ye still can. I know yer a bit shy but I can assure ye that it'll be fun ." Caramel said with a smile. She was worried that Spellblind felled a bit left out since she was always so quite and never really appeared around the ship,  "Come on Lad, it will be, wont it Tyra?" she said smiling as she put an arm around Tyra as well.

"Aye, it shall be!" Tyra said, her trademark toothy grin aimed right at Spellbind as she held Caramel closer with her arm, and she offered the quiet mare a mug of cider and some cookies in good faith.

 

"Enjoy the celebration with us, my friend!" Her grin turned into a more sincere smile, "Though, if you wish to tell one of us what is troubling you, it can be done in private. You shall not be judged."

"A celebration? Sounds good!" said Spellbind, slightly more enthusiastic.

 

Noticing the box of cookies, she decided not to have one. They must be getting low.

 

"I'm guessing our cookie stock is pretty depleted," she commented. "Are there any recipes I can make for us if we need more food?"

"Sadly this is the last box of cookies. Problem is that I don't have any ingredients at all for making cookies. In fact, we're running low on food as we speak. There isn't much left. That's why we took the short cut through Deadmares cross in the first place. I just hope we'll find some food on the shipwreck and the island it's wrecked on." Caramel said with a worried look on her face.

"Never fear, my friends!" Tyra piped up, hating to see her companions looking so glum, "Islands are always ripe with fresh fruits, which shall serve us well until our return home! And with the treasures we find on the shipwreck, we can purchase our weight in cookies!"

 

Her wide grin returned, as she pushed the cider and cookies closer to Spellbind. "Enjoy yourself, companion. You look as though you need cheering up!"

Ignoring Tyra's last sentence about if she needed some cheering up, Spellbind responded to the comment about treasure. "Are we going to be dividing the treasure between us?" she asked Caramel. "Because if so, I plan on donating my share to good causes."

Violet had gulped the rest of the cider, and the tell-tale drunk blush had appeared. Again. She flew back down, crash landed, and walked in. "Cookies!" she said, as she took one. She looked around. "So...hic...what kind of monsters can we expect in deadmare cross?" she asked.

''Violet, you do realize that we just went through the deadmares cross, you know, that monster that almost killed me, did you forget ?. How many drinks did you have?" Caramel said rolling her eyes. She looked at Spellblind again "The treasure will be divided, don't worry about it. Everypony gets their share at the end of this journey and if they want to make some more money, they can come along for the next one."

Rave was having bad dreams. "You know you will not be able to resist forever. One day, you will let down your guard and I will become superior". "Go away, leave me alone. Stop plaguing me". "The more you use dark magic, the stronger I become. Face it, you are addicted to it. You will never be rid of the need for it, therefore I will become superior in the end". Rave was starting to sweat as he was mumbling in the darkness. He kept on dreaming.

"The money is a good bonus," Tyra agreed, nodding and grinning to Tyra, "but, truth be told, the adventure is what called me to join you!"

 

She took a hearty swig of cider and continued. "Fighting giant monsters like that, finding riches, exploring new places and meeting new ponies! That is exactly what I trekked out into the world to do!"

Caramel was feeling a lot better but she was still thinking about the fight with that monster. "That will haunt me in me sleep for days" she thought. Still the ponies around her made her feel good inside, such friendly company she never really experienced. or at least it was a long time ago. "I'm off to bed lads, I'm all tired from this day, as it is quite logical. I had a wonderful time drinking and chatting with you tonight. Don't drink too much, we got a lot of work to do tomorrow. Goodnight." Caramel said with a smile. She stood up and walked towards her quarters. She stopped halfway as she could here Rave mumbling from his room. She knocked on his door "Rave, are you okay? Can I come in?" Caramel didn't even wait for a responds, she had already opened the door and now walked in. "Rave, are ye okay?" Caramel said as she softly poked him.

"Good night to you, captain," Tyra grinned, waving Caramel goodbye as she left the table.

 

She turned to Spellbind, interested in getting to know her some more.

"You are very quiet, I have noticed," she said, giving her a warm smile, "I would love to learn more about you! I will tell you about myself in return, if that will be any comfort!"

Rave woke up with terror and was about to scream but managed to restrain himself, only a muffled sound escaping from him. "Ca--Car---Caramel, it is only you" he said, a little bit stressed. His teeth had mostly turned back to normal and his normal eye color had returned to him, however, his mane was still pure black. "It is nothing" he said as he blushed. "You don't have to worry about me, my problems don't matter, you have other more important things to think about".

"Nonsense, what kind of thinks should I have to worry about at this hour? Besides, if there is anything I have to worry about it's the well being of my crew." Caramel said with a smile. She sat down next to the bed, looking at Rave and his blushing face "Why are always blushing around me ye silly pony" Caramel said with a teasing smile.

Spellbind decided that maybe it would do her good to tell Tyra about her past. "I kept my distance from others throughout my life," she said. "Never really had any meaningful relationships. Sometimes it scares me that I probably have emotional deprivation..."

Rave just blushed even more. "Be--because... uhmm.... you know... things.... stuff.... and all that kind of things and.....". "IkindalikeyouoknoIactuallyhaveabigcrushonyou" he said pretty fast. "Real smooth Casanova" he thought to himself. He looked really nervous and kinda silly. He blushed even more. "Ehrm, yeah, kinda like that".

Tyra nodded, listening to Spellbind, though she felt rather bad hearing she has distanced herself from other ponies all her life. She herself couldn't bare to not have any friends.

 

"Well, you seem to be doing better now," she grinned at her, "after all, you have made some new friends on this voyage!"

"hehehe, it's okay bud, I really like you too." she said with a smile and a little blush. "If ye didn't get that message yet, then you are deaf and blind my friend." she said again with a teasing. "But this doesn't mean that I'll treat ye different than before, just so ye know." she gave Rave a big hug. "I'm going to bed meself, goodnight lad." Caramel closed the door behind her as she said goodnight one more time and then she off to bed herself.

Wilhelm knocked on the wall between his and Rave's cabins. "What did I tell you? Marefriend." He smirked slightly and turned the page in his book. "Now, tell me the important thing; when's the wedding, for Celestia's sake?" The smirk grew slightly larger, though he meant his statements to be teasing, and you could tell from the tone. After a drink or two, Wilhelm had simply taken a dandelion sandwich with mustard, a cup of tea (Earl Hay, two sugars, one milk; it was one of his constants) and retired to his room. He was on Page 728 of the Ars Demonica, and he was paying special attention to the section about banishing spirits with previously evil inclinations. There were, of course, the mischievous, bored, or insane spirits, but rare was the pony ghost whose unfinished business was doing evil works.

Rave smiled. When he heard Wilhelm commenting, his face went a little red. "Oh zip it you. And don't you dare mention Celestia, that pompous tyrant". He turned in the bed, trying to get into a more comfortable position. "King Sombra is the one and only true ruler" he said quietly to himself.
