Blizzard put his hoof around Caliber's shoulder to console him, "But you're not alone bro. We're a team. And we always work together. Yeah, we may not have beaten Scarlett this time around. But I can assure you, that we'll get her next time. Celestia is part of the team as well, and she helped us out like any teammate would. I'm happy bro, so you should be as well. Don't beat yourself up alright?" he said with a friendly punch to Caliber's shoulder.

"Well, nice to meet you, Ticktock Clock," she said cheerfully to the pony--she hadn't noticed him immediately either; she was probably less observant because of her hunger--and took his hoof. "Caramel Dream over here. So, lots of swordsponies we got around here, then," she added conversationally, putting aside the hostile tone he'd added to Twilight's name. She would remember that for later, though. It could be jealousy--not everypony ascended to Princesshood. But, it was unusual for a stallion to be jealous of a new Princess. "Why do you lot need so many swordsponies in one lousy group?" she asked, instead of the real curiosity. Of course, she was curious about that too, just not as curious. Maybe if she got to know him better, she could ask him about his relationship with the Sparkly New Princess.

Ticktock giggled "Well my dear I suppose that is down to coincidence personally I haven't had a sword that long how long has it been about a week I think. I am more of a magical fighter being one of the highest graduates of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns so I can pretty much do anything because you see my cutie mark that star is a symbol of magic."

Blizzard then figured the best thing for Caliber at this point would to be alone, "Ok, gotta get back to the base. I got this beautiful dish settling. Come on Tyra, the best thing for him right now is to be alone." he said as he ran back to base camp.

 

He ran as fast as he could back to the campsite, and wen he got there, he saw his hay was still cooking, "Ah! Perfection! Now for the hayseed and grass." he then prepared the garnish by chopping up grass and hayseed. Once that was done, he took the sauteed hay, and flung it into the air, "Aero 51 Style: Food Control!" he then flung plates into everypony's hooves as the sauteed hay fell onto their plates, followed by the garnish he added. Everything fell properly into place on each plate, landing graefully like a bird on a wire.

 

"Well? Tell me what you guys think huh? Sauteed Hay w/ a Lemon Squeeze and a Grass and Hayseed Garnsh. Go on try it." he said with a hyper grin.

Tyra raised an eyebrow at Ice's insistence to be near Caliber. Considering homosexual and bisexual relationships were a natural practice back home, perhaps the earth pony was up to something...

 

She smirked at the two. "Should I leave you two alone for a while?"

caliber tensed, and threw a berry at tyra's eye. "no, its not like that!" he said, "id sooner have a thing with a dijinn!"

 

he laughed. "but seriously, tyra, no." he said after a moment. 

 

after ice left, he looked at tyra. "could i say something without you telling the others?" he asked.

While Caramel had never made it a habit to check out other pony's cutie marks unless she wanted to make them feel awkward (somepony's found offense in another pony looking at the flanks), she did it at his invitation.

 

Oh. That explained it. He probably wasn't jealous of Sparkle's ascendance, he was jealous of her magical prowess. She decided to stick to this assumption for the moment, until she found an opening to ask. "Impressive," she said mildly, in response to his comment of the School. "I wanted to apply for a little while, but my parents never let me. They weren't crazy about the fighting path I was taking. Probably wouldn't have made it, anyway--all I can do is levitate some things.

At this point, Ice had returned, and her grin turned into a full beam at his cooking. "Oh, sweet lightning," she murmured, breathing deeply. The apple Red had given her was gradually feeling tiny in her stomach. "Celestia in her almighty throne, that smells amazing." She gasped as Ice flipped the food into the air, flung the plates, then gracefully got the food into the plates without missing a beat. She didn't bother answering his next question, leaping into the food and beginning to eat it, but abruptly broke away, gasping. "HOOOT. IT'S HOOOOOT. JUST FINISHED COOKING, HOOOOOOOOT."

after ice left, he looked at tyra. "could i say something without you telling the others?" he asked.

 

Tyra blinked from the berry to the eye, then promptly licked up the juice. "Mm."

 

She tilted her head at his question, then nodded. "Of course, I vow to keep your secret safe!" She promised, putting a hoof to her chest.

 

Her smirk returned. "If it is about yourself and Ice, a relationship with two stallions is nothing to be ashamed of!" She teased.

Ticktock half smiled at Caramel "I know how you feel" Ticktock began to whisper to her "You want to know a secret? My farther didn't want me going there it was just lucky my mother signed me up behind his back." Ticktock begins speaking normally again "Don't worry while it is true most unicorns don't get into the school that doesn't make you any less important than them ok?"

 

Ticktock pushed the plate of food away "No thanks Blizzard i'm not hungry right now."

caliber dimly smiled. "its all been an act." he said, "ever since the violet-bot incident, its been an act. all the grins, vigorous eating, and fighting...its not real. not to me, at least."

 

he seemed confused, as he continued. "i have no idea why things i normally enjoy doing would just stop being fun, just like that, but it did. in fact, the only time i feel motivation is when im trying to protect my team, and you saw how badly that turned out."

 

he still seemed confused. "its just not fun for me anymore...your a fellow warrior, what happened?" he asked tyra, "do you know?"

Caramel blinked at Ticktock, surprised at the opening into his past, and a small smile spread across her face (quite unlike the grin she had been using up until now), which abruptly turned into a pained grimace as she began panting. "Golly, I was being serious about that food though. It's hot." she sighed, leaning back, and staring at the food longingly.

 

She glanced at Ticktock and grinned again, her mouth still half open to let the heat out. "Yeah, I've learned to deal," she said wistfully. "Nice of you to care, though. You don't meet many strangers who care about you. So," she saw an opportunity, and took it. "What kind of things did they teach you at the school?" She had always wanted to learn more about magic, but it was hard to run into a knowledgeable unicorn willing to give away their learning. Perhaps... it looked like an open group. Maybe, just maybe, she could work her way in. The Fourth Best Swordspony In Equestria had mentioned having her as an ally, after all.

Ticktock's face beamed at the chance  to teach someone "Well it is very dependent on what your special talent is. If you don't have a cutie mark then you go through as many classes as you want, I chose to do as many as possible and then one day in a test I got my cutie mark for all kinds of magic just like Starswirl The Breaded or even" Ticktock's voice goes bitter "Twilight Sparkles." Ticktock's voice once again went back to normal "Hmm may I enquire how you got your cutie mark because maybe I can work out what kind of classes you may have done if you did get in."

Blizzard felt bad when Caramel tried his food, and burned herself, and felt like he had been shot when Ticktock turned him down, "Oh goddammit. The ONE time I try to cook and I get mixed, borderline negative results? *sigh* Maybe I should stay away from cooking."

 

He was stuck for a moment and decided to sit on a lone log and read his grandfather's book, "Where are you...?" He also had a small hunch that something was wrong with Caliber, he just didn't know what. Which wasn't good news at all. But what could he do besides just sit and read until he fell asleep or until the next morning. "Something's up. I just know it. I better keep my eyes open. Motherbucking enemies..."

"The witch," She growled, "She took something from each of us. Radiant's magic, my axe, Ticktock's goggles...she must have taken your fighting spirit."

 

The scowl turned darker. "Nopony should have the ability to take that away...but it is not lost. We just need to unlock it again."

"Actually, my cutie mark's story a kinda funny one," she chuckled as she remembered it. "I was one of those fillies that threw things around. Well, my parents were bakers of sorts--they made sweets, and they named their kids after them, which got really awful after 'Lollipop Dream'--and they left some knives around one day. Well, I picked them up, took them up to my room, and started throwing them into my bed. And I figured out pretty quickly that I was pretty good at it, to my parents' horror. I'm dang accurate with my shots, if I do say so myself." She had swelled up a little bit from pride, but relaxed again. She shrugged. "I got my cutie mark in throwing knives, but I prefer using the bow with my magic."

 

She couldn't help asking now, as it had been the second time he'd mentioned Twilight. She was clearly on the forefront of his mind, and he didn't like her. "So, what's with you and Princess Sparkle, then?" she asked, mildly, edging towards her food.

She tried the food, which had cooled down in the gentle evening air, and sighed, slumping somewhat. "Oh, dear, sweet Luna and her gorgeous mane," she muttered vaguely, and launched onto it. She had devoured the well-sized chunk in less than a minute, and glanced up at Ice. "That was some of the best food I've ever had. Did I mention I like ponies who can cook? Well, I do. This is fantastic." She almost began licking the plate, but changed her mind, and nudged Ticktock.

 

"Hey, so you said you weren't hungry," she said in a suggestive voice, eying his food.

caliber frowned. can unicorns even do that?

 

"we should ask tick about it. he's the one to ask when it comes to magic." he said, "because im sure it takes really advanced magic to do such a thing..."

 

he tried for a grin. "and im sure we'll need magic to retrieve it. we cant exactly just stuff my fighting spirit back into me, huh?"

Ticktock chuckled at the story of how Caramel got her cutie mark "Well then I would guess that you would either be in fighting related classes or in a baking class *sniggers* sorry couldn't resist."

 

Ticktock's snigger quickly turned to a grunt and Caramel asked about Twilight "Well she was the only pony in school to ever achieve more than me, also if she had been just a little younger then I would have been Celestia's personal student and I would be the saviour of Equestria AND I would be an Alicorn she got it for finishing a spell I have created whole spells by my self I should be were she is today."

"We can do that," Tyra agreed, nodding slowly, "Ticktock is certainly one of the more...magically inclined, of our group."

 

A smirk slowly grew onto her face, and she got onto her hooves.

"Or perhaps," She suggested, then drew her axe, "We can attempt to forge a new fighting spirit into you! Sparring always helps rekindle my fire!"

caliber looked at her. "you did just that, right after the violet thing." he said, "rekindling my fire, and all...it died soon after, but it was there." he shrugged. "looks like alls we can do for now is make pale imitations. that will surely die after one fight. but hey...if you wanna fight, then i can do that..."

 

his eye glinted. "but only if you want to..." he said, unsheathing his own weapon.

Caramel gave him a small scowl at the mention of baking classes. "I take that very seriously. Don't even joke about me being a baker." She told him solemnly. She didn't--it had actually been kind of funny--but it was nice to keep strangers on their toes, not to let them to get to know her too quickly.

Caramel blinked at this story. That was actually worse than she had assumed. Things were usually opposite. "I'm... I'm sorry," she told him, as a streak of empathy hit her. She would hate to be in his position. "That must be rough. Though," she added, unable to stop a grin from returning, "I don't think you would be quite as happy as you think you would be to be the first male Alicorn Princess. Joking," she added quickly, worried she had lost a new-found friend. "Just joking."

"You are the fourth greatest swordspony in Equestria, so it is time to prove it! Not in your skill, but in your heart! And not to me, but to yourself!"

caliber cocked his head a bit. "not in skill, but in heart..." he repeated. "not to you, but to me..."

 

he was silent for a moment. "...okay." he said, raising his sword, "lets go."

 

he wanted his spirit back, and this seemed like the best way to do it. alls he could do is hope it comes back...

"I am not going to fight you," Tyra yelled, dragging her hoof along the ground, "I am going to remind you who you are!"

 

She began charging toward Caliber, and jerked her head to the side to prepare a heavy swing toward him.

 

The two were fighters, and she knew a good brawl was just the way to bring him back.

Blizzard didn't listen to Caramel. He didn't even hear Tiktock and Caramel talking. He just felt.....bad. Scarlett had taken over several towns ad cities, killed many, and has taken something from each of them. Including Blizzard's blood. Which, as he thought, was a deeper thing than what he figured at first.

 

"What could she do with my blood? Blood contains DNA, and DNA could be used. But...how...?" he flipped to a random page in his grandfather's book. He found a section about his grandpa and his team using old DNA, whether it was hair, spit, even blood. to revive their fallen soldiers, but none of it ever worked due to nopony ever peforming the spell correctly.

 

He thought for a moment before coming to a startling conclusion, "Oh no, she could use my blood to make ice soldiers. And because she's an alicorn, her magic is powerful enough to do it right." his eyes widened as he fell over onto the ground, "You mean to tell me that if she ends up making these imperial ice ponies, she could plunge Equestria into an ice age! Or worse, she could freeze the princesses forever and become ruler. And the worst part is....it'd be all my fault. It was my blood that she took, and now she could o anything with that.."

 

He felt extreme guilt and wanted to go jump off the nearest cliff due to his incompetence. He didn't know what to do, so he made a faulty excuse to leave, "I'm gonna go.....scan the area..." he said with a breaking voice as he began to cry as he started to walk, then run away from the camp.

caliber wasn't quite in it, yet, so he made a bone-headed mistake.

 

he tried guarding against tyra's swing, which was as strong as two minotaurs. he was sent flying from the impact, and his instincts kicked in. he landed sideways on a tree, and had already jumped back towards the fight, swinging his sword in a vertical slash.
