Red was considering. "If you could shoot ice magic at his feet, he wouldn't be able to move as well. He'd slide around. Or maybe you could actually hit his hooves and he wouldn't be able to move at all."

 

Then the Pegasus began hitting them. Red ducked back away from the edge of the roof. Her face was dripping with water, and there was some rubber on her muzzle. Her eye twitched. She threw another balloon at him before quickly ducking back. At least they had the shelter of the roof.

Blizzard nodded at Red's plan as he started to dodge Zenru's retaliation, "Got it Red! Take this!" He shot ice down at Zenru's hooves, hoping to freeze him in place as a stationary target, "Man where's my brother Caliber? He's the best brother in the world and he's not here having fun."

zenru hadn't expected that.

 

no matter. 

 

using sheer wing power, he propelled the balloons on the ground towards himself.

he continued his attack, throwing balloons.

 

he wasn't the best for fancy wings, ya know! smarts is a necessity, too.

 

MEANWHILE...

 

"...must be nothing."

"Damn! It didn't work." Red cursed quietly. She chucked another balloon before quickly dodging back as a balloon whisked past her. She wondered vaguely at how they had so many balloons. Oh well, she shouldn't question it.

 

"Yeah, it would be real nice if Caliber were here right about now," Red agreed, chucking another balloon. "But it seems we're on our own! Caliber has abandoned us to fight this battle ourselves... but we'll show that we can win without him!" She said, determinedly, peeking her head over the roof again to throw another balloon and getting hit in the face with one. "Damn it."

Blizzard grew a smug expression as he had an idea. He put up an ice barrier so that the balloons Zenru were throwing, "hAha! Hmm... I wonder, who IS that guy? He must not be a Canterlot pony, because he's fun. I don't know, but he's still frozen!" he jumped out of the tower and began to close in on Zenru with a water balloon assault, "Give up yet?"

zenru grinned. it seemed the new generation shall overtake the old...

 

but not now.

 

while he was being barraged, he remembered something from his childhood.

 

FLASHBACK

 

his brother, and himself, playing. a water balloon war. it was all fun and games, until the rest of the kids joined in. it was just him and his brother, against twenty.

 

they formulated strategies, made unique, all-new balloons, and took them out, one-by-one. 

 

they were so close to winning...but then a plan went wrong. their mother called out for lunch.

 

"oh, boy, lunch!" his brother said, as he waked out of the hiding spot.

 

"wait, no!"

 

too late. he was assaulted by the remaining five. his brother was felled, and was bleeding. well, not really, but it was still pretty brutal to watch.

 

"TIME OUT!" zenru said, as he ran to his brother. "brother...brother, we were supposed to win together!" he said, a lone tear appearing.

 

"ze...zenru..."

 

"yeah?"

 

"...im...hungry..."

 

"...fine. go, you brave soul."

 

"ZENRU!"

 

"yeah?"

 

"promise...promsise me...you'll never lose...a water balloon war ever..."

 

"i...i promise..."

 

his brother got up, and went inside. zenru wouldn't see him for another hour. which is insane.

 

"alright...TIME IN!" he said, picking up a few stray balloons, and charging the other team.

 

END OF FLASHBACK

 

"ILL NEVAH LOSE!" he said, beginning to throw his balloons to counter their balloons, exploding in midair. "FOR MAH BROTHER!"

Ice had brought up a good point-- there was no way this pony was from Canterlot. He was too-- well, fast.

 

She blinked at the sudden outburst from the Pegasus. For his brother...? He was taking this as seriously as she was, it seemed. Well, actually, she wasn't sure whether she was taking this seriously or not. It was hard to contain her giggles.

 

Red jumped down from the roof, pulling out her sword and slashing apart balloons that came at her, all the while throwing balloon after balloon at him, before rotating in the air, picking up speed, and throwing a balloon as hard as she could right at his face.

Blizzard had put up his ice shield to defend against the exploding balloons, "Oh shoot! Red! I think we're running out  of options here! This guy is good! You got any more plans?" he asked Red as he stood his ground. He had no idea who this mysterious pony was or why he would engage in their war.

zenru's eyes widened at the sudden swordplay. as a result, his own dual katanas appeared. 

 

"alright, swordsmare, lets dance!" he said, slicing at the balloons being thrown at him.

 

then one hurtled towards his face, and he pulled a matrix-like maneuver, to dodge it. "too slow!" he said, as he straightened himself up again, and continued slashing at balloons.

 

he was being careful not to slice up, say, the floor.

Red quickly dodged back as he suddenly had two swords out. He can use swords..? Oh, if Caliber were here, this would be so fun. She lamented.

 

 

 

"Oh shoot! Red! I think we're running out of options here! This guy is good! You got any more plans?"

Red blinked at him. "Yes, he's very good. And do you have any plans? Come on, aren't you the big brother? Shouldn't you have the responsibilty? I mean, I'm a swordsmare, not a tactician!" She had the odd sensation for a moment of having quoted something accidentally but shook the feeling off.

Blizzard knew Red was right. Part of being an older brother was looking out for your sister. He knew what he had to do, "You seem like a cool guy whoever you are. But allow me to step up.." he began to fling ice straight at Zenru as a counterattack, and continued with a giant ice spike that rose from the ground near Zenru.

zenru grinned. he hadn't had this much fun in...ever.

 

"alright...no more mr. nice guy." he said, breaking out of the ice on his feet, slicing the ice shards to dust, and apparently disappearing to the other side of the room in response to the ice spire.

 

"now...who's first?" he asked, swords at the ready. "who wants some of this?"

Blizzard put on a smug grin when he saw the swords come out, "Heh! Bring it! I'll have you know that I've adventured with Caliber the Wanderer himself! He and I are practically brothers! And he's like the 4th best swordspony ever. I'm pretty sure YOU come close right?" he said as he flung more ice at Zenru.

zenru was caught off guard when caliber was mentioned. "wait, you know calib-"

 

*whack*

 

he was hit in the face by the ice, but he shrugged that off. "you know caliber?" he asked. "he's quite an interesting pony, eh?"

 

MEANWHILE...

 

"ah...ha...ha...okay, im done for a little..." caliber said. he was laying on the floor, with the weights strapped to his legs and back.

 

needless to say, he was exhausted. "imma just...get something to drink real quick..." he was walking, when he almost lost his balance, and saw ice and red. and...was that...

 

oh.

 

oh my.

 

"...whats going on, here?" he asked.

Red rolled her eyes, sword in her mouth now, so she couldn't speak. It was exasperating how often Ice taunted his enemies, for no reason. Well, it was kind of funny. And he did it in his oddly friendly way. For some reason, she found it hard for anyone-- even an enemy-- to take offense at what Ice said, because everything he said was so... happy.

 

She paused as the pegasus did, asking about Caliber. He knew Caliber? Go figure-- the two best swords-ponies she'd ever seen knew each other. Oh well-- water balloon war now, chat later.

 

She grinned at the pegasus, tensing, then flipped back, landing on all fours against the wall of the tower. She kicked off it and flew at him, when Caliber appeared at the other end of the street. She stopped herself, putting her hooves on the hard gravel of the road and skidding to a stop, staring at Caliber with a raised eyebrow, still grinning.

Blizzard had jumped up for a leaping punch when he heard Zenru speak, "Yeah he's like my brother. He and I have been through Tartarus together. Literally. And we've known each other since we were kids. But now that you've left yourself open...." he then stopped his attack and hit the ground when Caliber walked up, "Hey bro, just havin' some fun, you know the usual. How does this guy know you?"

As our heroes had there litle fun,the sun slowy moved acros the sky and reached its highest point,it was 1:00 pm (13:00) on clocks in all of the Canterlot,pony's on strets are geting rear sight because this day is geting hot wery fest,and by look of it it will get much hoter.

Ticktock had heard the commotion coming from outside an had gone to investigate. When he got out he was overcome with surprise as he saw water, burst balloons and in the distance random ponies who were wet. Ticktock's eye twitched "Right all of you inside the tower NOW!" A Ticktock yelled it would remind some of the royal Equestria voice. He then proceeded to use a spell to dry them off.

Blizzard shyly twiddled his hooves as Ticktock yelled at them. After drying, he put a hoof around Red's shoulder, "Oh lighten up Tickers. Just a brother and sister having some fun, right sister Red? And also, I was hoping we could go to the Canterlot bakery for pies. Who's with me?"

Red was blushing from some embarrassment. She realized how... childish she had been acting. She grinned at Ice Blizzard-- he was right, it had been a little bit of harmless fun.

 

"I'm not such a fan of sweet things," she said, "but maybe I'll like it more if I try it with friends." she couldn't help smiling at... at how cheesy it had come out. But it was true-- it was always nicer eating with another pony.

Ticktock rolled his eyes and half smiled "What am I going to do with you guys ay? Anyway sure pie sound like a great idea just let me get something first" Ticktock ran back up into the library and grabbed a piece of golden rope which threaded onto the crystal perfectly. When Ticktock walked out the door the green crystal shone a bit even though Ticktock didn't realise. He then used his magic to put the key back in the door and lock it followed by him placing that round his neck as well.

Blizzard grew an excited grin, "Alright guys, let's go whenever we're all ready." he then looked around at everyone, "Speaking of pies, what's your favorite kind of pie? I personally like blueberry and creme pies...ooh! And pies topped with ice cream, they're delicious!"

Ticktock looked at Blizzard "My favourite is cherry pie topped with chocolate ice cream I mean I could make what ever food I wanted when ever I like you know? but most of the time I would either bake myself properly or go and buy something I mean sure magic is practical but you cant beat a good ole home cooked meal don't you agree?"

Red followed Ice and Ticktock out of the tower. Some passerbys stared at them accusingly. It was either because of how Ticktock was disliked around here, or because knowledge of she and Ice Blizzard throwing water balloons had spread.

 

She opened her mouth to say she didn't like any type of pie, but decided against it. She didn't want to be negative. Maybe she would like pies if she tried one again. It had been a long time...

Blizzard rushed over to the bakery and pressed his face against the window, looking inside, he started to drool, "Oh....such....delicious confections....mmmmm....pies...doughnuts....cakes....cookies....soooo goood.." he said as he stayed with his face still on the window. He had never seen such things the likes of Canterlot desserts before.
