Ey mate, might wanna rethink your title before Games Workshops drops the hammer of lawsuitblivion upon you. If you recall they tried to sue the alien franchise for using the term "Space Marine" in their books and plot, which is why the game is called Aliens, Colonial Marines.

So long as he's not actually using the term 'Space Marine', I think he'll be fine as their frivolous Copy right claim is only for that term.

I wouldn't say So. GW is extremely defensive when it comes to the realm of anything that might be a 40k/WHFB theme. Unless he keeps it absolutely free, then GW doesn't give a flying flit.

Their copyright term is only for the term 'Space Marine' and they're not being defensive but they're just being bullies towards other content creators because they know if it goes to court, any court system would laugh at their claim 'Space Marine' when it's been a term used long before GW existed.

Finally, they're being huge hypocrites considering they stole Tolkien's Eldar word and used it as their space elf race in WH40k.

I'm not arguing with you man, I'm just saying GW is a big big corporate bully. Half of the stuff they have in their fluff is stolen from some other source. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of WHFB was ripped from Tolkien, which in turn was ported to the extreme far future.

Aye, and I understand your concern, but so long as his power armor does not look like what your typical WH40k space marine power armor (no mighty pauldrons) or the term space marine is used I think he'll be fine, especially if the comic is not made for profit.

Neat, can't wait to see future content.

I'm pretty sure he'll be fine. Power Armor can be from a lot of other sources, not just Space Marines.

I thank you for your concern and advice, but I don't think Ill have a problem. The term Power armor has been used in other media, Fallout being the most popular I can think of off the top of my head. I don't think they have been sued for it. I also think my design and the narrative function of the power armor is different enough for most to end up forgetting the connection the term has with either of those sources.
