Failure of a hater

That always happens!!

"Fine! I'll watch an episode!"

*watches opening*

"That was stupid"

I find it incredible how impatient people can be, but on top of that, what's wrong with the opening? I don't think that intro ever gets old. Even before FIM, I always had the MLP jingle stuck in my head and I'm sure everypony has hummed it at one point in their life. Since Gen. 4, it's just gotten %20 cooler!

I cant bring myself to watch the opening credits more than once. I actually only watched the full thing during the Bronies React to video, and that was after I had seen the entire first season (And watched the pilot episodes twice lol)

I don't know why, but I always skip the credits or try to listen to something else when it comes on. I just don't like it. It reminds me what target demograph this show was made for in the first place :P. Of course, the show is NOT what the credits make of it :).

This is actually the first time in months I've even talked to this person. Believe me, I am very sparing when it comes to how often I expose myself to such things.

Never should have gone back to that forum in the first place, I knew how it'd turn out.

Everybody has their opinions.

His opinion is just naïve and biased.

It's still your opinion, not theirs.

Do not claim moral high-ground based on your beliefs. That's naïve and biased.

Not to mention that it's a kids show. You are claiming you are better because you like it and someone else does not?

What?

Like others have said, I'd just drop it and let him do his thing. I do sympathize with you, though. I absolutely can't stand it when people hate things they don't give a chance (which it's fine if they still don't like it, it's just the principle of the matter to try something before you form an opinion!). Yet I've learned there is nothing you can do about that kind of thing.

I always try and go by this rule:

I will respect your opinion if you respect mine.

He doesn't respect mine in the least yet I still respect his to the best of my ability. Most of my time is spent defending my own point rather than going against his.

I did for months actually and then I go back and see that and couldn't keep quiet.

Believe me, it's not like I sit there on that hellhole of a forum just to get insulted and stuff. I left it for months before and now I'm leaving it for good. Never gonna go back there, I thought if I left it alone for a few months things might get better but they only stayed the same so I'm no longer going back.

I know the value of walking away, I just don't always obey cuz it's not the first thought that comes to mind.

But at the same time I always feel the need to defend myself. People tell me all the time to ignore insults but I don't feel it's right to let people walk all over me.

Ignoring insults and letting people walk over you are two separate things.

If you are insulted, then you are insulted. Walk away already.

Responding to insults is responding to a troll. Troll wins.

I'm a bit of a fighter myself, I mean I actually have gotten into a ton of fist fights over the stupidest of things just to prove my point, but if it is something like this where your opinion is simply your opinion you really can't do much to it.

Bah, I know you're right but I have a fire inside me that tells me to keep going. I should listen to my own reasoning once in a while rather than keep things going for no apparent reason.

I have a long way to go before I become the person I want to be, the one who is not perturbed by baseless insults. -__-

I like the fact that you want to continue, but this approach isn't working. I would back down and just let him decide for himself.

There's nothing to decide really. He decided long ago that he would hate the show just because it's pink and ponies and "pedo material" (through his eyes)

I thought I learned to pick my battles when I was on Gamefaqs, looks like there's still some I unintentionally walk straight into.

Don't do anything... simply observe. He'll come sooner or later - everyone on the internet will JOIN USSS.

*sigh*

Seeing this thread, and what you linked, I'm going to say this: If he's really such an obnoxious jerk, do you really want him in the brony community?

Personally, I'd do my best to ignore him, and drop all contact with him. He'll either come to and stop being an ignorant flankhat and try the show sincerely, or keep on calling us "paedo furries". Either way, it won't matter to you because he won't be your problem anymore and you'll win in the end.

Also, not a shameless plug I swear, but this makes me think of another hater. :P

Haters gonna hate... the more you try the more they'll troll. It's a sad reality, but some people just can't get passed their close mindedness. This dude hating on MLP and bronies is ultimately his own loss, so I'd just sit back and let him waste his time.

Awesomeness = at least 20% Cooler.
