Why doesn't Ponyville have any law enforcement?

Ponyville does not seem to be a community riddled with crime, so a police force may not needed when there are enough volunteers to handle most emergencies.

Maybe there is a police force but it has never been depicted as of yet.

not much need, seems like any major crime is taken care of by the mane 6, i suspect that the individual citizens take care of the minor stuff on there own, what tiny amount of crime there actually is in ponyville, not much to actually cause crime in the first place, most seem to have a job and money and there is no drugs. but that is my theory anyway, the mane 6 take care of the major stuff or celestia sends gaurds and the minor stuff if it ever happens the citizens solve on their own.

If there was a major law enforcement presence, then the Mane 6 and Spike would have wound up in jail for their damaging chaotic mishaps.

Ponyville and maybe other places rely strongly on an honor system.

It does exist since the CMC were shamed for the problem they caused with their article for a time.

Why do you think Celestia sent Twilight to Ponyville? It was a ruse for Twily and her friends to defeat all the evil there and Celestial doesn't have to pay anyone to do it :P

Canterlot has the Royal Guard, Manehatten has a police force, even Appleloosa, which seems considerably smaller than Ponyville, has its own sheriff. Ponyville doesn't have anything of the sort when it comes to upholding the law.

Manehatten has a police force?  When did they appear in the show?

The Royal Guard seems to go wherever the princess is.  They're sort of half guard of the monarchy and half duty to Canterlot's public.

Meh, Ponyville could thrive without a police force (I know this topic has come up several times before, so it's been questioned before a lot).

The show seems so dead-set on trying to portray Equestria as an ideal utopia that lacks complex societal problems, that I wouldn't be surprised if they bother to show any other police force outside of what we have currently seen.  Meh, the country only goes belly-up once a season when evil magical overlords try to invade the whole place :P

Who needs officers when your place lacks delinquent crime and only has evil magical overbeings that come once a season.

I think Ponyville does have a police force-we just haven't seen them onscreen yet, because they haven't been relevant to an episode's plot.

I also remember "Read It and Weep" had a security force for the hospital, so I wouldn't go as far as to say that there isn't any law enforcement in the town, since they were trying to stop someone who was breaking into the hospital to steal something.
