What if the mane five turn into alicorns at the end of Season 5?

So what if the mane five all become alicorns at the end of season 5? Would it be appropriate to advertise the new alicornized mane five toys during the credits?

 

I mean what if the Cutie Map's purpose was to turn them into alicorns?

I don't think they'd flash the actual toy versions of the mane six during the credits; that's just tacky XD
That being said, I could see them airing a commercial after the credits end, though this would come off as overkill IMO: You just did a finale with the mane six as alicorns, you've already got the word out for the six as alicorns.

That being said, while I've always been a proponent of the mane six as alicorns idea since S1, I'm firmly of the belief that it will sadly *never* happen. The more the show's gone on past S2, the more concrete the evidence against it has seemed: If they DO change things in a status quo manner, they're going to make the changes be centered on twilight, not the others, such as giving her a kingdom with a population or increasing her princess status, not making the others alicorns.

I don't think that both are happy with this, especially Alicorns usually are princesses and Dash for example said that she won't be a princess. I think Fluttershy and Rarity would make good alicorn princesses, but for Rarity, I don't know why she would become a princess. Fluttershy turned Discord into a good person and that is in my eyes a big reason to become an Alicorn princess (I mean, twily only accomplished an old spell), but I don't think she would be happy as a pony who is always in the public and must speak loud in front of an audience.

 

On the other side, all mane 6 get an equal rank and not Twily alone over the other mane 6. But I don't think that the rest become alicorn princesses.

Well, I don't think the 5 would be bad "Princesses" given what princess entails in equestria though; While people think "Governmental ruler" when they hear princess, in equestria "princess" seems more of a title assigned to alicorns. Specifically, being a princess is more akin to a Greek god's role in that they watch over an aspect or task in the world, like Luna and the night/dreams or Twilight and friendship issues.

So while if the mane six were required to RULE over something, they'd be bad, but so would Luna: Heck, they even had a FF comic with celestia and Luna showing that while she CAN do it, Rulership isn't something Luna's really cut out for, as beaurocracy tires her out. But not all Princesses actually seem to have to rule in the world-- So rainbow dash or Pinkie pie wouldn't have to deal with government, but rather just keep doing what they've been doing all along, helping with threats to the world and handling areas that are their expertise, like pinkie with the yaks or whatnot.

Heck, in the comics Luna is basically a grown up rainbow dash in personality: If she's princess material, then so is dash by that right XD
The mane six would just leave the red tape to twilight, and twilight in turn would defer to them in situations involving their areas of expertise like fluttershy with magical creatures/animals or Rainbow dash with weather issues.

 

(do note that while I like to argue this point, its *not* happening, barring a huge change of direction in the how they want to aim the show)

On the note of this topic: I feel compelled to point out the upcoming toy information, though I am pretty much 100% certain those are just misleading toy lables or fake. (most probably package deal toys like how Gold lily was packed with pinkie)

Like in S4, I could see how it was a possibility, with the box being designed for all six and it being an obvious rewards package of some sort (such as when it opened it would bestow it on them). But there's no hook like that this season.

 

S6 would have to have some sort of similiar task or macguffin introduced for the mane six to build up to alicorning them all.

AND, just as in S5 E4, the CMC are searching for cutie marks. So this whole season (and also Season 4) must be about cutie marks.

But, they can't all be princesses, currently there are 4. That would mean there would be 5 more, so that would equal 9 princesses.

Good point. Fluttershy befriending the most powerful villain is in fact an even greater accomplishment than what Celestia, Luna or what Twilight did. She does deserve an alicorn change.

I highly doubt that this will happen at the end of season 5. End of the show? Who knows at that point, but I can pretty much guarantee that season 5 will not have this event. Nothing about the cutie map seems to pinpoint towards and it just hasn't been leading up to anything at this point.

 

Now if it somehow did happen in the finale of this season, I will eat a sock. Or some popcorn. Either way, I will be surprised. I honestly would not mind this to happen as the grand finale for the entire show if justified, but with at least one more season coming after 5, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

If they become alicorns, I don't think they'll become the main rulers of a kingdom each. If they become princesses, they'll be the lesser ones like Prince Blue Blood, who's actually a duke, but they decided to the tittle of prince, because most of the target audience are unfamiliar with duke

Yeah, recent toys showed Flutters, AJ and Cheerilee as princesses, probably alicorns, and if we keep track of toys, big stuff like this usually ends up in the show on way or another. Canterlot Wedding, the Crystal Empiyah, Twilicorn,  and Rianbow Powah were announced as toys before later being in the show proper. Judging by the previous track line, they'll probably make them alicorns sooner or later, but not by this season, no foreshadowing, no build up for it, the toys were announced merely days ago..... No chance for Mane6 alicorns this season, but MAYBE in a later season, or the pony movie

So there's tons of loopholes around the princess thing to keep in mind; My little pony for example has had sets called "Princess dragons" before where they had Non-princess dragons that were simply packaged with Actual princesses. They could be doing a similar thing by doing Duo packs with a new princess character introduced with well known characters to insure sales: like Princess XXXX and applejack together in a package.

I think it'd be more akin to Princess luna IMO: she's a technical co-ruler with celestia, but she doesn't actually DO any ruling, leaving judicial action to Celestia. Makes sense about your explanation of princesses and dragons, we shouldn't assume they'll become alicorns just because of the name because it might be. Though, I wouldn't rule it out just because Cheerilee is in it and it turns out they'll be alicorns. She, along with Cadance and some pony with a strawberry name I don't remember, also had their own rainbow power toys

Agreed for Season 5. There is absolutely ZERO hinting at it, the theme of the season is completely apart from it (Being focused on cutie marks and what their role is), and overall no real good way to alicornify the other 5.

They could introduce a meta-plot or macguffin in Season 6 that would make an alicorn plotline make sense, but as things stand, Season 5 seems completely absurd. The only possible link between making them princesses I could see would be that they have a throne around the map, and that's a definite stretch.

 

That being said, Season six is another ball game so we don't know what it will bring.

 

It's an awful idea as I've said before in other threads. I sure won't buy any toys based on them. Hasbro can forget that.

The deserves bit I think arguments could be made against as the mane six have all worked just as hard as twilight to protect equestria, with them doing alot of great deeds themselves (Discord and fluttershy springing to mind).

The NEED bit I find more defensible, but at the same time there really wasn't much of a reason to alicornify Twilight either: Unless she gets a sizeable population to rule over, there's really nothing more she's doing that she wasn't doing before in S1 and S2.
