gaming Attention to detail in games.

What are some examples of the little subtle things that add to a game?

In Mega Man X, if you beat Mavericks in a certain order, some stages will be changed. Like, if you beat Chill Penguin before Flame Mammoth, Flame Mammoth's stage will be frozen.

This may not be too subtle, but I find the skyboxes in Super Mario 64 to be quite intriguing.

Because this game was released in 1996, they are all pre-rendered. However, if they were made today, they'd more than likely just be modeled in 3D. In my eyes, they look quite mysterious and leave a lot to the imagination. The cave one, for example, comes to mind. It's obviously a cave, but how big is it? How far deep does it go? Why is it green? Does it end? It's 100% up to interpretation; the game isn't gonna fill it out for you.

The amount of detail in The Last of Us is pretty interesting. I mean they've managed to make the world so in depth that it's just difficult to not notice subtle things.

Plus Uncharted 3 had that Easter Egg that's basically a crossover of TLoU and the aforementioned franchise. I'm sure there's more things I'm not even thinking of, but these are just a couple things I wanted to point out. :P

I draw fan art (and crossovers) of MLP, Undertale, Gravity Falls, Homestuck, and more! If you're interested, check out my Deviantart, Tumblr, and Twitter!

The Metro game series is a master at attention to detail :D It's by far one of the most immersive games I've played because of that fact.

Don't expect anything incredible though! :D

Video games made me more attention to detail. Every time I play any kind of game now, I watch the backgrounds and elsewhere for oncoming danger or just anything interesting. The fact I play most of these games at night does not help.
