general media When do you consider something stops being a spoiler?

I think it depends on how far the spoiler is in the series. It's okay to spoil something that happens in the first few episodes of a show after a few weeks of it airing, but I think people should wait longer if it's a spoiler that happens near the end of it...

I think it depends on how story intensive it is and if it is quite old. Something like Game of Thrones that has such a deep story should always have the spoiler warning, really anything involving a story should. I personally think it takes a long while before it stops being a spoiler. Hence why I try to not spoil anything for anyone on pretty much any media.

It's really not all that difficult to just warn people that whatever you're talking about is a spoiler. There are people who still haven't played/read/seen something ten or fifteen years down the road. There's literally no reason to expect them to know what happened.

Part of it is also knowing your audience. Some people don't care so much about spoilers but that's only going to work for certain people. Generally speaking it's a courtesy to assume that people who get into a conversation haven't seen a spoiled moment.

The idea of using Netflix as a metric is utter nonsense. On top of the fact that not everyone has Netflix, not everyone is going to have watched something just because it is on Netflix.

Long story short: Nothing ever stops being a spoiler. There is always someone who hasn't seen something. Always treat a spoiler as a spoiler.
