Well, I thought of an idea for making a census for the forums. I got this idea after going through polls like, "Which Religion are you?" I would see the polls and think, "There has to be other ways of gathering the most common views on religion and politics or any other ideas on a much broader scale than these polls." Then I thought of this census idea. Now you might think, "How are we gonna get these questions out to everyone who's currently active on the forums?" Well, we just send out one of those forum wide PMs with the questions and maybe more people will answer. Jeric 46,860 October 1, 2015 Share October 1, 2015 This is not really a suggestion on anything that will improve a site, just a suggestion for an interesting research study. While I would have no issues with creating a platform to record and interpret data that would directly benefit MLPF, we currently do not have any plans for an officially sanctioned study like this. Just a few reasons why it would yield dubious results are limited sampling frame, inability to even perform basic cluster samples, low response rate, issues with Bayes' leading to misinterpreted data, convenience samples are unreliable, and very few members here qualified to interpret the data - I know of three on staff who have formal education on this, but that leads to researcher bias. I could go on. This is why I am very suspicious of some fan created studies. They are inherently flawed. 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There was a census a while back, but it forced you to vote your age and I feel uncomfortable sharing my exact age on the interwebs. If we had a census but if you didn't have to answer one or two questions, that would be great. Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey. There was a census a while back, but it forced you to vote your age and I feel uncomfortable sharing my exact age on the interwebs. If we had a census but if you didn't have to answer one or two questions, that would be great. I actually prefer standard demo ranges instead of an exact age anyway. So if and when we launch another MLPF Survey it would not include an age block, but may include a series of ranges (13-17, 18-22, etc) and also be optional. MLP Forums would likely create and endorse a fandom survey as we have in the past ... but I am not going to ever support demographic questions related to religion or politics. None of that information fits within the scope of MLPF.
