The crystal baroness guffawed and settled back.  Flashing an enigmatic grin, she tossed her mane over her other shoulder.

"Why should I let you know what I'm capable of?  If you believe my wealth is my one and only power, then you are free to join the thousands of ponies who believe that, as well.  My abilities will be revealed in the arena, but I will leave you with this one hint: there will be blood."

Topaz twirled around over three hundred sixty degrees so that she was no longer facing her interviewee, instead she was facing a small crowd of mostly confused ponies that had gathered around. "IIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOVE IT!" She declared as her bushy red tail swayed side to side happily. "You heard it here, folks! We're gonna see some blood!" She announced, followed by some very hesitant and confused claps.

The kick had much the same effect as her last one, only this time, it did cause the demon to tilt his head slightly. It was very clear that her muscles wouldn't be enough to injure the monster. Mni responded by hooking her leg in the fetlock of his left hoof, holding her in place easilly. His muscles were like concrete!"

"You JUST... DONT... GET IT!" He said as he delivered three consecutive blows to her chest with his free hoof before tossing her a few feet away. "The least you could do to honor me is draw your weapon!"

Jade's heart skipped a beat as she realised her kick had done next to nothing to Mni, and her inner dread only escalated as her leg was grabbed in his enormous hoof.

The air was beaten out of her with each blow, before she was tossed to the floor with some rough rolls before an abrupt stop.

"Urgh..." she managed to force herself up onto her hooves, and shook her head. She didn't want to admit it, but he was right - she needed her sword.

Her wing flexed to her back and curled around the brunt of her katana, unsheathing it and twirling it through her articulate feathertips before pointing the edge of the blade toward Mni.

Jade's worries would be worsened after she drew her sword to see a very mundane and non-glowing katana. How bad she made it work before?

Mni chose to increase her frustration with a taunt. "Can't quite get your powers to work, huh?" He said with a jaunty laugh. "Well then, let me try on something more your size."

He pulled the Orb of Mni out of its pouch again and started to inhale more fumes before the smoke surrounded him again. The smoke disappated to reveal a shorter, grey earth pony with a heavy looking green trench coat. The pony had slightly squinted eyes and a short black main that stood straight up on his head. He spoke with a gravely, accented voice.

"Let's see if you can even use that sword!" He said as he extended his right front leg to the side. A sickle blade grew out of his foreleg in one swift motion, the same color as his coat, but as hard as steel.

There was a crowd, here?  When did they show up?  How did she not notice?  Immediately, Carnelian turned her attention to them, smiling broadly and waving towards her audience.

"Beautiful citizens of Bangcolt, it is my honor to come to your great city to compete in these challenges!  It is my intention, no matter whether I win or lose, to keep in mind the culture that made this possible!  As such, I announce my motion to donate five million bits to Bangcolt's charity!"

Exactly what charity that was, Carnelian hadn't the darndest clue.  Tax write-offs and PR were the name of her game, but also intimidation.  What could be said of her after willingly dropping millions of bits without batting an eyelash?

She curled her lip at Mni's taunt, and covered her eyes as smoke engulfed the demon... to reveal a short earth pony. She had to admit, she didn't see that coming.

He's making fun of me. I'll show him...

She got into a battle position on all four hooves, the edge of her sword pointed at the smaller stallion as she awaited his move.

Mni leapt into action, taking initiative by swinging left and right with his strange leg blade. It seemed he now had a completely different fighting style than when he was Cumulus. This body favored fighting with exaggerated, sweeping motions in an unpredictable way that was difficult to dodge.

Jade was ready the moment Mni leaped into action. His swings with that scythe were more eccentric and harder to dodge. Definitely more focused this time around.

She deflected as much of his swings as she could with her sword, and used her legs and wings to dodge and float around most of his attacks, though she would get frequently nicked and scratched.

With each parry, Jade would see that the sickle blade was as hard as steel, but as the fighting went on, a pattern emerged from his attacks. It was interesting the way his attack formula was disguised to look random. Right hook, right hook, left hook, repeat, simple enough. However, the slices he used changed every four strikes instead of three. Upper cut, upper cut, lower cut, lower cut. So the pattern appeared to be a random string: Right upper cut, right upper cut, left lower cut, right lower cut, right upper cut, left upper cut, etc.

The flower was nothing more than a wilting cactus flower. As he picked it, the pricklers from the small bit of cactus that it grew from would stick into his hoof and hurt. Apparently, this was some kind of trick. Or was it a threat? Who knows. That's all there was to it.

He's making it look random to put me off, but there is a rhythm. Nice try.

She played along for a bit longer, playing oblivious to get him all cocky, and as soon as she front an opening, she locked blades with him and used the momentum for a roundhouse kick toward the back of his head.

Snowstorm dropped the flower after inspecting the thorn sticking into his hoof. He stomped on it nonchalantly afterwards as he inspected the single drop of blood that came from the small wound. His ears began to twitch, looking for signs of the mare, but she was outside of the range of his enhanced hearing. He slowly, casually exited the bar and looked around to see for signs of which direction she'd gone. Imps were excellent trackers in the wild, and though he was far removed from his roots, he possessed many of the same skills. On a hunch, he looked around with his eyes for signs of plant life emanating magical energy.

@@Literally Snails,

There seemed to be no clear traces of magical plant energy nearby. It would seem as if this was just nothing more than a practical joke of some kind. However...the cactus leaf would start to fade out of existence...as if it were never there in the first place.

@@P-Jay,

Ironblade cocked her head. Her horn continued glowing, and her sword flicked back past one of Hiero's ears. She set it spinning in front of her, a circular blur of grey and red. With a snort, she charged across the rock, willing herself to go faster, keeping her sword in front.

Jade smirked as the kick connected, and watched as he rolled back onto his hooves.

Not bad.

She gasped as she saw him reach into his pocket. He was going to use that orb again!

With as much speed as she could muster, she drove a hoof toward the orb, in attempt to kick it away from him.

"Uhhh...wha?" The guard pony snorted lightly, as he startled awake, shaking himself to attention. "Reporting for duty, Princess Lunestia! Princess Celestia! Uhh..." The guard blinked, as his eyes finally cleared, revealing the two ponies in front of them. Neither of which were either of the intended princesses, or royalty at all. He set into a heavy blush.

"Uh, sorry, m'am!" He slapped hoof to forehead, hard enough to sting, immediately regretting it. "Twenty-four hours of duty starts to wear on you, ma'am. But if you're looking for registration, as I assume you are, you'll want to go to the arena." He pointed the hoof still secured tightly to his head off in the distance, towards the dome that nearly towered over the horizon. "Largest building here, ma'am. Can't miss it, ma'am."

@J.R.

In a rush of movement, Ivory Star and the cage she stood on were both flipped into the air, sent careening straight into the sky. On more instinct than anything else, she cast the same spell as before, rolling on air some thirty feet above the ground, before coming to a stop. Quickly grabbing the cage before it could smash onto the ground below, she reversed its direction via magic, sending it spinning back towards Ice Blizzard fast enough that the sides seemed to blend together, becoming one.

@@Unicorncob, Mni had already started inhaling the smoke before the kick connected, making the orb fly out of his hoof and drop into a bog. Mni covered his mouth as the gas still swelled around him and shrouded his transformation, but without the orb, he wouldn't be able to transform again.

When the smoke began to clear, a crimson red hoof extended to strike jade in the chest. Out flew a very red pegasus, Ember Strider. She landed across from jade and started to pop her neck.

"The kicks are getting old, Jade." She said. "Maybe if I get you a little closer to death you can show me that pretty sword of yours." She added as she took a few steps toward Jade. The orb had likely settled at the bottom of the murky bog by then.

Topaz got a bit closer to the guard, pressing a hoof to his collar piece and wagging her over-poofed tail. "Oh, and can you escort me to where I need to be, too? I'd like to make sure she's the one I ref. Pretty please?" she added with a sultry wink. Her referee badge was in clear view.

She narrowed her eyes as Ember Strider - or at least, Mni becoming her - walked out of the smoke.

"Funny," she panted, stretching her hooves and neck, "I could say the same thing about your shapeshifting."

@@Fractured,

Immediately after Ivory was launched into the air, Ice started running straight ahead, and made an ice ramp. In front of him, he would run up, and jump off of the ice ramp, punching the cage apart with one solid strike. While in the air, Ice would then fling two ice spears right for Ivory's legs.

Alrighty. Which I guess means you two are the first to take advantage of the new announcement: participants wanting to arena match are no longer required to be announced by me before fighting. You still have to pick your stages, but now all you need to do is just make sure to note that it's an arena fight beforehand, then you can throw down to your hearts content. ^_^

@@crispy fries,

Agririon's ears peaked up as something in his mind... clicked. The rules of this dimension had changed, it seemed, and for the better- but the fact that it had changed so suddenly concerned him slightly. Was this dimension stable...?

"Welp," he began, cracking his neck (although it was just a sound, he had no bones nor muscles to crack), "Time to get going... Prepare yourself." With a gesture, a shadow seemed to peel off of a nearby tree and cloak over him, hiding him amongst the shadows of the trees as the sun began to set on the shores of Crystal Lake...

Agririon, from his shadowy outpost, began scheming for a path around the forest to approach the shotgunner, attempting to stay out of range of a full shotgun blast while he did so. He could take a shell, or two, or three, but the wraithcloak was only so powerful, and having it torn to shreds and being shown up his first fight was not in his plan. Before he moved, however, he placed his mark upon the mare, and slowly a visible outline began to shimmer into view as he silently wrapped his way to his right, careful on maintaining his cover through the trees.

Beautiful music began to ring out from the stage of the musical hall. Unnaturally beautiful music; a piano who played as if it had been enchanted to capticate the pony heart, the way they played with a surreal intensity. But, strange, and even more surreal; the unicorn who stood atop the stage, and hadn't pressed a single key. Looking like the faintest outline of a ghost atop the dark stage, she opened her mouth, and began to sing a tune only she knew, to the nobodies which surrounded her by the dozens.

"When the night...falls..."

@Literally Snails

"Ummm... yes. I can do that, too. Ma'am." Bowing once, more out of embarrassment than respect or obligation, the guard quickly nodded to the mare in front of him. Only taking an extra second to adjust his armor, he set off at a followable pace, heading dead straight for the arena.

Ivory Star quickly dropped the energy below her feet as the spears came by, ducking them close enough to actually feel them whistling by over her head. Unnerving, to say the least. She re-positioned her roughly ten feet below, on another patch of air. "Evenly matched, so far!" She called out to Ice Blizzard, as she stuck out her tongue.

As the spears missed, Ice rolled his eyes at the tongue gesture. "You haven't changed at all, have ya?" He smirked and plummeted towards the ground, punching right into the earth. The strike would cause a spider-web of cracks to appear jutting out from all angles around him, as the ground shook once more. "Don't count your chickens!" With a shout, spiked ice tendrils started to rise out from the ground, and high up into the air, attempting to entangle Ivory.

"Counting chickens?" Smirking, Ivory Star increased the tension in the air below her, forming an invisible but effective shield. As the tentacles came at them, they smashed against them. Just barely, but enough to hold the assault, for now.

"I haven't even started yet!" Drawing up even more energy, she increased the area of the panels, until they covered the area between her and Ice Blizzard. Then, she let it go, dropping it to the ground selectively in large circular panels over Ice Blizzard. Literally raining sky, she thought, from his perspective.

Because he couldn't see what was coming for him, Ice felt his best bet would be to try and take advantage of it somehow. As the panels neared him, he closed his eyes, listening closely.... The ice hammer he had from before returned to materialize in his hooves as he stood ready to strike. He focused. Putting all manner of sense to his ears to try and see if he could do it.

With a quick motion, Ice swung upwards with the hammer, aiming to swat one of the panels back up.

"Nice one!"  She looked down, performing a shuffling motion almost like dancing, and began to send the rest of the panels down, as well. Some twenty in all came zipping out of the sky, heading directly for Ice Blizzard' location. They'd hurt like small blocks of concrete if they hit.
