Galloping through the alleyway, the mysterious duo appeared on the other side, slowing down to a much less conspicuous trot as they came out onto the street. However, just as they thought they were clear, a new scene presented itself to them: a baseball star on skateboard skating away with a bleeding filly in his forelegs being chased by a stallion waving a katana being chased by a filly in roller scates.

 

The two looked at each other silently for a moment, stunned for a moment at the insanity before their very eyes. What in Iridia's name were they doing here?

Jack smirked as he jumped once more, and grabbed another board right out of his duffel bag. He had extras for his photo sessions in case anything every went wrong, and continued rolling on it--this one had slick wheels. ​"Thought you were quicker than that! Let's spice things up!"  ​With one hoof, the colt pressed a button on his pocket music player, and played some chase music to add to the atmosphere:

 

​​"Come on, old man! Bring it on!" ​he shouted back as he started grinding a railing, and still holding the filly carefully.

He began to catch up to them and, drawing his katana, sliced the wheels of the skateboard in half. 

 

The filly winced as she saw the sword cut through the skateboard like it was nothing.

 

"Ouch... you don't mess with somepony's wheels, man. You just, don't."

 

 

There was a hop into the air, but, as she did so, she lit up her horn and began throwing the contents of everything she could that was on the street at Raze- clothes, flower pots, et cetera, literally creating a magical storm of junk that was hurling towards Raze- plus, at least what he dodged, to the filly coming up with roller skates in the rear.

 

A yelp escaped her as she ducked and weaved past the junk the other filly was lobbing at the stallion. She raised her hoof to avoid a flowerpot, and was temporarily blinded by a hat covering her face before she threw it off.

 

 

Jack smirked as he jumped once more, and grabbed another board right out of his duffel bag. Now that she was closer, she could get a better look at the colt. Her face lit up as she recognised him.

 

It is him! And he's got awesome taste in music!

 

Lowering herself to lessen the wind resistance, she weaved past the stallion and caught up to Jack.

"Any reason we're runnin' from this guy?" She called to the two. "Want me to bop him one?" She hunched up her back to draw attention to the baseball bat and hockey stick poking out from her backpack.

The gray unicorn galloped out of another alley before stopping in her tracks. If she noticed her cloaked targets, she ignored them in favor of staring disbelievingly at the scene before her. It was, without doubt, the strangest thing she'd seen while in Bangcolt. She  rubbed her eye with a hoof and opened it again, but the chase was still there and still strange. The mare sat down with a small thump, her eye slowly moving to track the chase.

 

At the same time, a tan pegasus with glowing wings flew over a building and landed on the roof, wearing a matching expression of disbelief and confusion. Her wings evaporated as she stared at the scene, mane fluttering faintly in the breeze. She wanted to help, but with no clue what was going on, she really couldn't...

((You know what, screw it... I'm summoning it now))

"I'm 19, you twit!" he shouted at him. He was getting stressed again, even more stressed than before, he didn't know why. Then the junk came flying at him, with a pot hitting him hard on the head, and knocking him down. They were getting away, and his vision began to blacken. Suddenly, he large a large garbage bin flying towards him, heavy enough to crush him.

 

This was it.

He was going to die, to children no less.

No. He couldn't. He wouldn't allow it.

No.

No!

NO!!!

 

Suddenly, his head began to hurt, with a pain worse than a thousand headaches, as the garbage dump bin, along with more random junk was getting closer to him. The pain was enough to wake him up, and he clutched his head in agony, screaming. A blue glow began to form around him, and after a few seconds a sound like shattering glass could be heard, and Raze was enveloped in a pillar blue energy. Then, something shot out of the pillar in front of him. It was humanoid in appearance, dressed in a dark blue garb with white gloves and white boots. Coffins surrounded it, formed like a pair of wings, which were floating and chained to its back. It face was metallic, with sharp looking edges, and it held a sword in its left hand.

 

The creature let out a roar, a roar so fierce and horrifying it sounded like all the demons and monsters from all of Tartarus screaming in unison. It could be heard all over Bangcolt.

 

 

With its sword, it sliced all of the debris flying in Raze's direction in half, the debris landing past Raze, who was still clutching his head. The pain stopped, and he looked up in disbelief. What had happened... and what was this thing protecting him?

 

The creature looked towards the two fillies, who were about to escape. As if he knew what Raze was thinking, he zoomed toward the both of them, gliding through the air. It was approaching them at a frightening speed, destroying the skate board the colt was riding with a swing of its sword. It floated in front of him, and roared in his face, reaching for him with his free hand.

Dust Devil had felt confused, but with that roar, a single thought formed in her head: Bad. That creature was a monster, and so Dust did what any slightly insane and overly egotistical pegasus would do.

 

Glowing yellow wings burst from the metal plates from her shoulders. Flipping her goggles onto her face, Dust dived from the rooftop in a blur of gold and tan and teal. Her oversized wings pumped, faster than any made of flesh and blood, as she sped towards her target. 

 

With a shriek of her own (weak though it seemed) Dust slugged the creature in the face, snapping its head towards the side. She turned the momentum from her attack into a roll, her wings trailing behind her like glowing kite tails. As she neared the ground, her wings snapped open and flapped, spinning her about to face the monster, a glare on her face. Another wingbeat brought her up to its eye level as she glared her silent challenge.

The creature slowly reared its head back at the newcomer, unfazed by the attack. It seemed physical attacks would not work so well on it.

 

It raised its sword and floated around, then dashed around her in a blur all directions, swinging at her as it passed her.

Jack's eyes widened at the sight of the huge creature. Suddenly he felt his skateboard destroyed, and found himself jumping, and landing into some bushes nearby with the filly, and avoiding the arm. He looked at her, ​"Ugh, why do ponies around here have to be so whiny? Stay here hidden in the bushes while I deal with him. Running away clearly isn't gonna solve anything."

 

​Once he made sure Rosalia was safely hidden in the bushes, Jack walked out, holding his bat on his back, and nonchalantly chewing bubblgegum. ​"It's really surprising. This is like if Sepiroth were to throw a hissy fit at preschoolers. You proud of yourself, buddy?" ​he blew a bubble and popped it in his mouth, ​"I'm sure your mom is."

Dust's eyes widened at the creature's swing. She certainly didn't stand still; A thrust of one wing sent her darting out of the way of the strike, rolling over the blade in a way halfway between deliberate and wild. A matching move from her other wing brought her back into a stable glide as she started circling the creature. 

 

In fact, circling gave her time to point her hooves in the general direction of Raze and Oooh like a foal on the playground. With a chuckle, she swung her wings back, diving at the creature once again, faster and more abrupt than should have been possibly. Instead of striking, however, she landed on one of the coffins on the creature's back, latching onto it. Her wings vanished as she did so.

The filly skidded to a stop at the sight of... that thing. She really had no words to describe it.

 

...edgy. That's a good word.

 

She removed her front pair of rollerblades and threw her backpack in front of her to unzip it. She dumped the skates inside and exchanged them for her hockey stick.

 

She skated up to Jack's side and crouched over, like she was about to kick off some roller-hockey. She did practice with her skates when there was no ice, but was roller-hockey a real game? If not, she was totally going to invent it.

 

"I've seen temper tantrums but you're really pushin' it," she commented, and then looked at the colt, "okay, I got a plan. I say... we keep smackin' him around until he falls over!" She grinned, not an ounce of irony showing on her face. She truly thought that would work.

The creature flew up into the air, spinning as it did so, trying to shake the pony off of its back. He then flew back down, attempting to grab the colt with the bat.

 

All the while, Raze was watching the entire thing, and just before the creature could reach the colt, Raze cried out.

 

"WAIT!!"

 

The creature stopped, its hand an inch away from the colt's neck. It slowly turned its head around, and faced Raze.

"Don't...hurt him!" he yelled at the creature.

 

Suddenly it approached him, floating slowly above him.

"What... are you?" Raze asked.

Then, it spoke to him telepathically. Only Raze could hear the voice.

 

"You have summoned me, pony," it said, in a surprisingly calming voice. "From the depths for your soul I have come. I am Thanatos, the harbinger of death. You called out for help, and I have answered. From this day forth, I shall serve you... as a spirit of protection."

 

He held out his hand, and in a flash of light, something appeared. It was an object... a gun of some sort, with intricate engravings all over it.

 

"Take it," he said to Raze. "When the time comes, and you must summon me again... you will know what to do." As he said this, he held his hand towards his head, and pointed it like a gun.

 

Raze couldn't believe what he was seeing. Nevertheless, he took the gun, and the creature disappeared in a flash of blue light.

(( That feel when you work SO HARD on a post involving my character summoning their own persona/eidolon, and the event where it was relevant ends before you finish X_X ))

 

With the summoning of the persona, both mysterious figures seemed to gawk, though one of them seemed much more interested than the other.  After fiddling around with something beneath the cloak, he took off running in the direction of the action.  The other tried to grab him, but failed, her words deafened by the sounds of fighting.

 

The stallion stopped short of the other, watching the scene unfold as his hoof went to his chest.  Finally, the creature disappeared, and the mysterious figure crept forward towards Raze.  When he was finally close enough to be heard, he through back his head and revealed his face, much to his other's chagrin.  Beneath the hood was a handsome crystal stallion with grey fur, a periwinkle mane, and red eyes, a cravat about his neck.

 

"I was unaware there were others with connections to the outer planes," he mumbled, his voice soft, masculine, rich, and smooth.  "Might I ask from which plane you found it?  My own eidolon I found in Draconia-234."  Despite the lack of any sort emotion in his voice, the glint his eye was all that displayed his excitement.

When the creature disappeared, Dust suddenly found herself sitting on nothing at all. She tumbled through the air with an undignified squawk before flaring her wings and getting her bearings. Rolling her eyes, she flapped over to the nearest rooftop and sat down on it, pushing her goggles onto her forehead. She looked like a watchful statue, if watchful statues had itchy muzzles and perfectly mobile forehooves.

 

Meanwhile, Iron had stepped out of the alley she'd been in. She didn't want to think about what had just happened. Maybe somebody had spilled a large quantity of hallucinogens, or something.

 

Whatever. It wasn't like it was important.

 

What was more important was that Iron had located her targets. One of them had walked right out in the middle of the street. He'd even taken his hood off! Iron didn't quite know what to think, but she did have to supress a snort. His mane was pink, for Celestia's sake.

 

Iron shrugged, turning her attention to the other cloaked pony. They appeared to be better at actually doing their job, whatever that might be, as their face was still hidden. They seemed irritated, if what Iron could see of their posture was any indication.

 

Keeping pressed against the building fronts, Iron walked casually to the second cloaked pony, the still-hidden one. "Hey,", she rasped, her voice friendly and conversational.

 

Then, abruptly, she pounced, almost like a cat. Her hooves plowed into the pony's side, knocking her over. Ducking her head, Iron hooked her horn on the pony's hood and tossed it back.

Rosalia just completely froze solid, attempting to comprehend this creature. She nodded silently after her crash-land into the bushes and the request for her to stay in the bushes, before she just laid flat on her back. After a few minutes of her taking deep breaths, she stood up again- thankful for the fact that the scare had apparently caused her muscle spasms to stop- and peeked out of the bushes, watching the events that occurred outside of the grassy sanctuary. She quietly stepped back, attempting to survey the area without revealing herself- assuming anyone else was watching in the vegetation-disguised alley that Batter Boy hid her in. She crouched down and took a few more breaths, listening and watching the events occurring outside between the parties that had accumulated as she attempted to recover some stability before revealing herself- assuming others didn't find her hiding place first.

Are you outright publicly admitting to how fragile your insecurity is by taking your anger out on foals? And then you got the balls to try and attack us like we did something wrong to you. I mean, really? You come after kids like this?" ​he pressed his hoof against his forehead. He then gripped his bat, giving Double a quick look to tell her to get ready too. ​"Ugh, you're no better than a school bully. That magicrap is just a farce to cover up how sorry you feel. How about, instead of causing this embarrassing stuff that no one wants to deal with, you cut the crap, and talk to us like a stallion. If you even are one."

And then you got the balls to try and attack us like we did something wrong to you. I mean, really? You come after kids like this?" ​he pressed his hoof against his forehead. He then gripped his bat, giving Double a quick look to tell her to get ready too. ​"Ugh, you're no better than a school bully. That magicrap is just a farce to cover up how sorry you feel. How about, instead of causing this embarrassing stuff that no one wants to deal with, you cut the crap, and talk to us like a stallion. If you even are one."

 

She just darted her eyes confusedly as Jack went on with his burn, and tapped her hockey stick on the ground before eventually just pointed to the colt. "Yeah, what he said!"

Raze just looked at the newcomer crystal pony in shock.

 

"I... don't what that is, or where it came from," Raze said, trying to stand up. He couldn't control it, he didn't know what he was doing. Although now... he felt like he could.

 

He looked at the gun it had given him. It was silver, with intricate tiny markings and symbols engraved on it. It looked like a Ruger Mk III pistol.

 

He remembered what it told him, and how it pointed towards its own head like a gun. Was that... the only way to summon him?

 

His breathing became heavy. He had to put a gun to his head, and pull the trigger. He didn't know if he could do it. But... he had to try.

 

He stood up, and took a deep breath. He began to focus, and put the gun on the side of his head. He took another breath... Suddenly, the spirit's name popped into his head. It felt like it needed to be called out...

 

"Thanatos!" he yelled, pulling the trigger. A sound like a gunshot could be heard, combined with the sound of shattering glass, though no bullet came out of the gun. The spirit reappeared, hovering behind him, not doing anything.

As the persona was once more summoned, the crystal stallion stared, absorbed in fascination.  "Amazing," he whispered.  "No rune, incantation, or ritual required!  Perhaps it reacts to tension in the bond between yourself and it.  That would require a much more advanced bond that I haven't quite felt secure attempting yet.  How did you do it?  Are you noticing any adverse effects?"

 

So absorbed was he, that he didn't notice the mare tackling his sister to the ground.  Tossing her hood back, Iron would find a pink crystal mare with a dual-colored purple-orange mane and green eyes.  About her neck was a choker with an ametrine brooch.

 

"Alright, congratulations, you caught me," the mare growled sarcastically.  "Now tell me who you are and who sent you before you try and kill me."

The mare raised herself back up, though she kept her forehooves firmly planted on the crystal mare's shoulders. "Ironblade," she said, her voice rough, though not nearly as menacing as might have been expected. Her single red eye glittered in the shadow cast by a nearby awning as she stared down at the glittering crystal mare. "Curiosity sent me here."

 

A smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth, stretching a large, ragged scar on her cheek. Closer inspection showed that Iron was covered in similar marks from head to hoof. "Now," she continued, "you can return the favor, thank you very much."

Double Play made a double-take at Jack, surprised at how he had used her name. She hadn't told him it - they had barely even talked. So then...

 

He remembers me!

 

She nodded, with a cocky smirk aimed at Raze with narrowed eyes, and tapped her hockey stick on the ground in warning. "Right, Jackie!"

Raze just stood there, looking down at the one talking to him. He then looked at Thanatos, who was just floating behind him, waiting for an order. He sighed.

 

"Look, kid," he said to the colt. "I don't know who you are, or why you feel the need to beat me over the head with your tee-ball bat... but I have against you. Who I need to talk to right now is that filly you were with..."

 

For some reason, he could sense her, hiding in the bushy alleyway. How was he able to do this? Was it Thanatos...?

 

Whatever the case was, he decided to walk towards where she was hiding, with Thanatos floating behind him.

Raze just stood there, looking down at the one talking to him. He then looked at Thanatos, who was just floating behind him, waiting for an order. He sighed.

 

"Look, kid," he said to the colt. "I don't know who you are, or why you feel the need to beat me over the head with your tee-ball bat... but I have against you. Who I need to talk to right now is that filly you were with..."

 

Double narrowed her eyes, cheeks puffed out slightly. Was this stallion ignoring her?

 

"Hey, I'm here too, buddy!" She barked.

 

 

Whatever the case was, he decided to walk towards where she was hiding, with Thanatos floating behind him.

 

She snarled and skated in front of him, getting between him and the alley where Rosalina hid.

 

"Hey! I'm talkin' to you!" She growled, tapping her hockey stick on the ground. "Whaddya need a filly for, anyway? My dad warned me about ponies like you..."

Come on, Double, let's teach him what happens when you ignore one of us." ​Jack walked with Double over in front of him, blocking his path, and held the silver bat close. ​"You try to kidnap her, and you think we're just gonna let you go over there again? Nah. Heck, naw, man. What could you possibly need her for? We're not moving until we get an answer."​

"...What in Celestia's name would someone like you understand about what I need her for? This isn't something you should be involved in. The only pony that needs an answer is her, and you're in the way. Thanatos!"

 

He wanted to see if he was capable of controlling this new power of his, and in his head he told Thanatos to take away the kid's bat, which he did. He floated towards the colt, snatched the bat from his hooves, and dropped it behind him.
