Their husbands would have had to of been normal ponies so they'd have died long before either of the sisters. Same with their children. Perhaps their are some royal descendants running around that we're not aware of. Like...Twilight and Cadance perhaps? Shanks 10,816 October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 (edited) It is possible they could have had children at some point in the distant past, but that they didn't inherit Celestia and Luna's long lifespans though I would delve more into that they simply decided not to have children likely because they knew they would outlive them which would probably be quite a painful experience. Celestia was romantically involved with a good version of King Sombra from an alternate universe in the comics, so I could see them as having the same needs and desires as any other mare but with their long lifespans there are many matters they would have to consider that your average pony would not have to. The long lifespans come at a steep price, they have probably had countless friends and loved ones pass away due to old age. I know there are more reasons for having kids than simple inheritance but that's a major one for royalty nullified right there. Plus the way Luna and Celestia act, it's very likely and in my headcanon that they see ALL ponies as their children. cider float 2,538 October 22, 2015 Author Share October 22, 2015 (edited) I feel that Celestia so desperately looking for a student (Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle and just my guess Starlight Glimmer) could be a sign that she is looking for an heir before her time is up or because she wants to have a little child to raise up to be a ruler. It could be that she cares more about skills than inheritance but who knows. It does seem that Celestia and Luna does have a mother so I'm going to discard the idea that they came into existence. Celestia could also be looking for an heir though because she could be looking to retire, she may have decided that it may soon be time to hand things over to the next generation. Cadence has her own kingdom now and Twilight has ascended though she seems more like a princes in training to me with responsibilities gradually being granted to her as she proves herself. Lauren Faust has said that she intended Twilight to be an heir of sorts to Celestia and this could indeed play out toward the end of the series. But first we have to ask the question..."Do they have husbands?" Joking aside aside though I love Dilestia because I find it the most hilarious ship ever, that is more fanfic fodder than anything else though it is fodder I will eventually use for this one fic idea I have. Depends. Is Equestria Girls considered canon, or based off of canon but alternate universe (like comic series)? In terms of show itself, there isn't any reference to human world, Twilight doesn't show any particular interest towards Flash nor vice versa. Celestia and Luna may possible be infertile? I don't know how alicorns and aging/immortality works, but perhaps it's possible that they're long past the age when reproduction was possible. Cadance was adopted as Celestia's niece , and Celestia took special interest in Twilight as well both of them at young ages in their development. TedEbear 8 October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 luna and celestia might not have children even though other alicorns can or do, because of status...Think of their role it's essentially sun and moon god and it has been for aons. some huge amount of time i don't know off the top of my head if it's ever referenced... cadence and twilight though immortal are not the sort of queen they're more maybe the governmental mayors, bishop, lord whatever you want to address them as... still entirely influential, but they aren't on the same level. it could easily create strong conflict like when the pope touches people, that person is now a holy artifact and their life is in danger in a way... sweetolebob18 728 October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 As to children, you have to consider time frame. According to Hasbro, the 1st 3 seasons were 1 year (In another thread, I'm working on that. IMO, it is physically possible). Season 5 has had a 2nd Nightmare Night. If that is year 2, then Season 4 was last week in June to mid October (at the latest) of year 2 In short, Luna has only been back for a year & 1/2. Plus Do Princesses ... Sheep? shows she still has issues about the whole Nightmare Moon thing. In short, she probably isn't even dating yet. Any children she had would be 1000+ years ago & long dead by now. Prince Blueblood called Celestia auntie (IIRC, but ICR where). Unless this is a courtesy title (I know some families give that title to unrelated friends) this means she had children at some point.
