Things is, i dont really know how to actually put that in... I was thinking of a victoria 2 like system... but honestly, keeping the tier for every province.... how?

Well, there's going to be a list of numbers indicating the provinces that have been colonised, so if each number has a roman numeral in brackets after it to indicate the level and if there is a big number at the top of the colonisation page to indicate the current maximum then that should be fairly simple to implements:

Scientific

Colony development limit: (iv)

Rational

Colony development limit: (iii)

Shetland Provinces:

10 (iv)

11 (iii)

12 (ii)

13 (ii)

14 (i)

It needn't be too detailed - just a rough idea of what each tier represents, with exponentially increasing costs to move from one tier to the next with a correspondingly decreasing reliance on the homeland.

(i) Tiny settlement, population of a few hundred (no real production)

(ii) Small settlement, population of a few thousand and some primary industry (farming, mining, trapping, etc)

(iii) Town, population of tens of thousands, substantial primary and some related secondary industry (mines and smelters, trapping and tanning, etc)

(iv) City, population of hundreds of thousands+, more distant primary industry, huge secondary and some tertiary industry (almost anything)

Ponssia had mobilized four steamers for the cable laying. The new cable had been connected to the main line therefore giving it direct access to the capital. The two 'teams' were to meet in the middle of the straight in order to connect their cables, establishing a fast communication line between the two northern nations.

I'm not sure that you can actually connect cables in the middle - I've read that two ships to carry the whole length between them and lay the cable from the middle outwards. Still, the methodology isn't really important so long as both sides integrate it into their network. I've got a picture of where I imagine it would go (along with other future suggestions.)

EDIT: Oh, I see. They joined them together in the middle first, then set off for home laying the cables.

Sighs, I think I'm going to have to pull out. I haven't been able to make any posts and I may even be giving up roleplaying Princess Celestia all together.

If so, would a Saddle Arabian faction be applicable?

... aw, someone is going to pick Saddle Arabia? Right when I decided to pull out... conflicted.

Maybe I will give it one more day, or two.

I've changed it to another faction, the Ottamare Empire now :squee:

Realised I didn't want to be starving in a desert environment.

Welp, I've finally finished my factional application. Here goes:

Name: The Ottomare Empire

Government Type: Absolute Monarchy

Flag:

sig-4245695.fa7c15324b.jpg

Leader: Empress Sunflare the First

Category: Rational

Environment: Fertile, flat land and rolling hills.

Two Abundant Resources:

  • Food; the fertility and the flatness of the Ottomare Empire’s lands makes it ideal for the growing of wheat, grain, barley, apples, and many other agricultural products.

  • Lumber, the flat lands have allowed the growth of spectacular forests and woodland

Two Scarce Resources:

  • Luxury Items; gold, gemstones, and other such luxuries are scarce in the Ottamare Empire, with such items likely being imported from other lands

  • Coal; substituted with the lesser effective but cheaper fuel wood, coal is fairly redundant in terms of economic value

Religion: Marian; a cult based on a Pony God which communicates through the ancestral lines of Sunflare the First allowing Sunblaze to be considered a prophetic figurehead and a voice of the God.

General Race Composition: 60 Mil

  • 35 million earth ponies

  • 15 million pegasi

  • 9 million unicorns

  • 1 million minorities (dragons, zebras, changelings, etc..)

General Race Description

An agricultural people, the earth ponies are hardened and well worn to the weather. They understand the lie of their land, and understand how to till crops - almost every Ottomare is involved in agriculture in some way or another. The Ottomares tend not to engage in conflicts, and prefer to consolidate with defences and other fortified structures. Whilst, lacking in the scientific methods of some other factions the Ottomares attempt to strive for further scientific developments, and continue to advance their nation as a whole.

Two Primary Nation Traits

  • Industrious

  • Agriculture

Two Nation Values

  • Science

  • The Arts

Culture and Description

The Ottomares encourage cultural enrichment, and performing arts and the showing of artistic works are commonplace, even in the small agricultural settlements. The Ottomares also encourage the betterment of everypony by all lending their hoof for each other, and there is a well-established propaganda sector of the Empire. Many ponies look up to the Empress as a god-like figure, who can communicate the will of the Pony God through visions and prophetic revelations - however, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Buildings: The capital houses the Empress’s palace, with each smaller settlement containing a governor's residence. Most settlements are based around agriculture, with the bigger cities based around scientific development, trade, and industry.

Foreign Policy: Diplomacy

History:

The Ottomares were founded as a farming agricultural community which became an empire through the successful conquest of their first leader, Emperor Sunblaze - who ruled for 60 years before his untimely death.

The successor was Emperor Sunblaze the II who was his only living heir, and whose child later was to become the Empress Sunflare the First who took up his rule when he died 80 years later. Ottomarians believe that the royal family is divinely gifted from the Pony God.

Military Power:

Whilst being a diplomatic nation, the Ottomares are also ready for instant deployment or the defense of their homeland - with mandatory conscription for three years after the arrival of a pony’s cutie mark. As such, almost all of the current Ottomare population has received military training making the population significantly well equipt for an invasion. Annually, 1 million ponies reach the age of military conscription - leaving a large pool for potential recruits. The Ottomare Empire also has a standing professional army of around 150,000, which fluctuates with mercenaries in the event of a conflict.

Misc:

“Empress Be Our Guide.” - formerly “Emperor Be Our Guide.” - anthem

@@Dovashy,

If you did, I would definitely stay... largely because I never did like the ideas being thrown around about horses so far, that of slaves and beasts of burden which ponies could ride, and would rather see 'Arabians' as a race worth much more then that.

@@Lordav,

Can I update Equestrian military based on what was shown/suggested in Cutie Re-Mark, that at least the Wonderbolts are treated as a branch of the military? Seems perhaps that we hadn't given Equestria enough credit for times of war.

Liao Dynasty doesn't really keep slaves, they're pretty equal in terms of class and gender as far as Rationals go.

They are only treated like that in the north. Down south, they can have whole civilizations. It would be another source of conflict =)

There are strange countries in the east and the Pulaiens in the west, as well as various smaller tribes in the south...what about the north?

Now that the Ottomare's inhabit the south, I'm going to assume that the Imperial Hetiandi's knowledge of the south is from pre-Ottomarian times, before it was conquered by Emporer Sunblaze I and turned into the Ottomare Empire - which was roughtly 130 years prior to the current time.

On a side note, I'm just catching up on the roleplay, and it sounds like our factions are very compatible. :)
