A bunch of my latest drawings

Recommended Posts

I feel like posting these here, so I just go for it.
Both were made in the past month, and I actually like them a lot :3

The first one is (obviously) Luna.

And the second one is my cuddly OC princess, Auroya.

(The style is inspired by pencil drawings of Queen-KittyKat on deviantart, check out her stuff, its worth it)

Majorly, I was fiddling around with the hair most of the time here. I'm still using too much black to get the shading done, that adds a greyish tone to the whole thing which I don't like, but I look into getting rid of that.

Next to that, I'm getting the hang of perspective and style for the hair, some more practicing and I love it. Only the muzzle is my other problem, its kinda weird for both of them, but I'll practice those as well.

Have a beautiful day, fellow ponies.

(Also, you might notice that I used different nametags on both drawings. That is because I plan to switch from DasBloody to AuroyaNovo asap)

The effort you put into their hair is astounding and the style you drew them in looks like they have almost a 3-dimensional like look to them. (Criticism incoming) There's a perception issue with Luna though. I don't think her right eye should be as visible as you portray it to be. That's the only thing.

My favorite out of the pictures has to be of Auroya because of the amount of subtle details and effects you have going on. That way you drew her fur, along with that subtle white space you left between her fur and mane, makes it appear as if she is fuzzy. That design you gave her horn is beautiful and is probably how it would look if the mlp style was converted into the one you use. The ways you used your shading really brought out the depth, beauty, and curvature in your drawing, although, when you shaded the part right below her head, you could have added a little bit more of that curving style that you used for her eye to really bring out that 3-dimensionalism. And I especially love how you wove together those progressing lighter tones and colors for her flowing mane along with those highlights that must have taken a bit of planning. And, beneath all of that, a light blue background that really helps to accent and bring out your art really well. (I bet some people didn't even notice the background color because of the attention it brings to the main part of your piece)

Absolutely Beautiful

Thank you very much for all those nice words, and for the criticism as well :3

I think I should say, that those 2 pieces were the first time I ever tried this style. I know about most of the perspective issues, especially for the head- and neck parts. I'm still learning how to shade those parts properly, it's kind of weird sometimes, especially the muzzle and mouth, and, as you said, the part right below Auroyas head. I'm not quite sure yet how to increase the contrast in that area, but I'll keep trying.

Also, I didn't really plan anything for those 2. The hair-shine-effects just happened, and as you can see, the first part of her hair I colored (the blue front part of her mane) does only have slight shine effects, because I was mostly experimenting to get a proper hair style done.

Next one might be more exciting then, we'll see ^-^
