KillerKingBakudan 702 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 Maybe I'm the only one who thought of this, but when Twilight's giving everyone Zecora's potion in the new episode, Applejack asks her "what kind of fertilizer" she's had her nose in, insinuating that Twilight's gone crazy.Obviously, fertilizer doesn't have mind-altering effects, so what if that's just a euphemism for the word "shit", which in turn is slang for narcotics like cocaine or crystal meth? It's nice to know there are subtle references that only adults can pick up on, but I'd be incredibly surprised if Equestria had drug dealers running about. 1 No questions asked. Vulcan 3,255 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 Given that there have been multiple cases of mind-altering magics and potions in the show. I'd say yes. In fact, I bet the love "poison" is probably sold in the back alleys of manehattan somewhere and secretly placed in young mares' drinks.

True, but Applejack specifically mentions Twilight's nose when she asks about the "fertilizer". Of all the magical potions and powders, I don't think there's ever been one that a pony could snort. I do not think the "but" was necessary since I agreed with you XD Also, surprisingly(and believe me I'm delighfully surprised), You "can" get high off sniffing plant fertilizer http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/andrewmcfbrown/100028413/why-are-people-taking-plant-fertiliser-for-fun-inside-the-murky-world-of-legal-highs/ Which further proves the possibility that applejack asked twilight if she was high XD Edited November 8, 2015 by Vulcan
Lunar Echo 10,335 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 I'd say so, but in the form of potions.

I'd put potions in the same category as glue, gasoline or other substances available for commercial use. But damn, I never would have guessed fertilizer had the same effect. I guess now it's just a question of whether the writers knew. No questions asked.

You meant actual drugs like cocaine and weed. well, given ponies like tree hugger, Flax seed, and wheat grass exist. I'd say it's highly likely that they at least have mare-ijuana. and it's likely not even illegal since Equestrian law has been shown to be really lax when it comes to mind-altering substances and magic.
Hazy Skies 1,010 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 (edited) There definitely are drugs in Equestria.. First let's look at what drugs are: Drug, noun: a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.. With this in mind there are many scenarios in the show where some form or substance have and a physiological impact on the bodies of ponies.. Such as Zecora's potions.. or the Poison joke plant's effects.. Also note that Equestria does indeed have hospitals.. and it's understandable that they practice medicines to save ponies' lives.. They would have practiced this medicine making for a long time.. as the races were once separate, Earth ponies and Pegusi couldn't rely on the magic of unicorns to help their sick and injured.. I highly doubt that anyone will be seeing any form of drugs in the show that directly reflect our own illegal ones like meth or marijuana.. Though it's possible that there are also their own illegal drugs which some ponies there use.. but we will never know.. Makazi 317 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 It was less implying fertilizer was a drug and more implying Twilight had her head up her ass.

UnknownFry 169 November 8, 2015 Share November 8, 2015 Yes. Magical potions may be the closest to thing drugs in the show, but there may be special plants as well, so we may only see them for healing purposes.

Sidral Mundet 1,666 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 Yes because if nothing else, Equestrian medical tech seems to be at a comparable level with a least the late 20th century and as such would most likely administer drugs for illnesses and health benefits and infection prevention. As to recreational drugs, there's no proof but given Fluttershy's comment in Over a Barrel and Treehugger, I think it's pretty safe to say pot exists in Equestria. Also alcohol. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

Scrubbed user 3,417 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 If drugs aren't canon then I'm wondering if Pinkie still qualifies as a pony. Pinkie is a different story, no drugs involved. She just knows that she is a cartoon character, so our Laws of Physics do not apply in their world, so she can do what she wants. All the feats she has performed that the other ponies are unable to do are due to her greater understanding of the world, greater than that of Celestia or even Starswirl the Bearded.
