So here's a question...

Unlikeable Pony

Recommended Posts

There was a clearly fake rumor about Legends of the everfree on 4chan a while ago about it being about the mane seven being sucked into/trapped in an MMO type video game.

While it was pretty clearly just made up BS, I was kind of wondering: If there were ever an RPG/MMO plot or story, what would you see each of the Human versions of the group as, and their party role?

Twilight/Sunset would easily be the mages of the group.

AJ would probably be a strong class like Barbarian or Paladin

For RD I have a tough time choosing between Assassin, Thief, and a Dragoon

Rarity I have a tough time on. I could see her being a mage like Twilight and Sunset, but at the same time she'd probably want a more elegant class like a Red Mage or a Fencer, or an archer for accuracy

Fluttershy is...probably the token healer, though a summoner could work

Pinkie Pie though....could be anything lol. Maybe something like...a....Bard? Jester? Joker?(Hey it's a class on FFTA so it counts :P)

Twilight sparkle: Wizard / Mage / Scholar as DPS role
AppleJack: Warrior, tank role

Fluttershy: Druid**, as healer role

RainbowDash: Rogue I'd say, she's really fast. So DPS.

PinkiePie: Bard, as support / buffer

Rarity: Maybe some kind of wizard, enchantress maybe?

Rarity: Arcane Mage

Pinkie Pie:  um... Shaman? Some kind of support...

Applejack: Warrior (designated tank)

Fluttershy: Druid (designated healer)

Rainbow Dash: Rogue

Twilight Sparkle: Frost Mage

Sunset Shimmer: Warlock / Fire Mage (depends if she's evil or not)

Depends a lot on the RPG in question, but here's my line up.  :sunbutt:

Twilight - Mage, well rounded with spell loadout and a large breadth of lore and knowledge at her disposal. Includes some minor healing spells, but generally prefers shields or offensive counterattack spells instead.

Rarity - Smith or merchant wielding a warhammer, with magic augmenting her strength; has the ability to enchant weapons for added effect and to make up for the less heavy designs. Is the silver tongue of the group and something of the public face.

Applejack - Paladin or general tank. Probably one-handed hammer or axe and shield mix. Moral compass of the group, and front line defense against attackers. Doesn't do much damage on her own.

Fluttershy - Druid or beast tamer, likely has a creature or two that do a lot of the fighting for her, and she does great with nature environments. Not overly combat-heavy, but decent in situational support and survivability. Can likely perform non-magic first aid in emergency situations.

Rainbow Dash - Warrior. Personally I kinda see her working with either a single sword, be it one or two handed. Heavily reliant on speed and power, with little focus on actually taking damage. Basically hits hard and fast, and prefers to crush opponents before they can properly react.

Pinkie Pie - Probably the worst (or best) assassin ever. Could faint in and out and keep opponents on their toes. Unpredictable, fast, and powerful when she needs to be. Easy to underestimate given her disposition, but really effective when she needs to be.

IMO, its go like this:

AJ would be a party tank character, most likely using JUST a shield and a lasso. She'd probably start out with an actual weapon to go alongside her shield at first, but end up losing it pretty quickly and just relying on her shield to symbolize her general Non-belligerent and more defensive mind set (she generally avoids picking fights though she's willing to fight if pushed). She's end up using the shield as a bludgeoning tool to let her hit things without it being too brutal (since something about a shield, despite it being heavy and dangerous, comes off as comical to the public mindset when used as as weapon), and she'd used her Lasso to essentially "Tank" things by pulling them to her and away from allies.

Further, this would work well with AJ's general role in alot of situations, of being a put upon straight pony (its very common in the comics for example in fights) of her suffering the repercussions of others more foolish actions, by having her constantly getting whaled on by the monsters due to her party being incompetent.

Rainbow dash would be either a Berserker type class or a Ninja type DPS class. She's definitely a leeroy jenkins, and I'd see her charging in at a moment's notice to try and pound Monsters in the face. This would also work INCREDIBLY well with AJ as the party tank, as the two would end up arguing alot due to this in their usual way, with AJ getting upset at RD going off half cocked and having to save her.

I'd actually think it'd be great to have her "class" be a direct homage to Son goku from journey to the west (with some healthy DBZ goku thrown in), as she seems the kind to be a real shonen fan, so a "monk" type class would be great. Her having an extending pole weapon would be really flash and similar in fighting style to having a double sided weapon, and having a class based off of Goku would let her be HIGHLY mobile and even maybe throw in the ability to do Energy wave type attacks ala goku.

Next up, Rarity. Definitely Diplomancer type character. An illusionist type class with little actual direct combat roles, but they'd throw in more than a few situations where she would get to charm some NPC or monsters via dialogue into doing what she wants, ala the Diamond dogs or the way she was sweet talking the dragon in dragonshy (pony rarity at least).

Give her a few illusion spells to use to try and avoid getting smashed in combat, and we're good.

Pinkie, definitely a bard type class. Spoony bard type class. Absolute joke and basically plays the comic relief while occasionally doing some comic relief whacking in a fight. Party heart though, kind of like Elan from order of the stick, though even LESS useful.

Will get a couple deus ex machina type moments when she might get to cast a couple Really OP spells (Summon party canon maybe?) to blow a villain away, but will always be unable to do it when it REALLY matters (Out of MP Gaiz! GEEZ!)

Fluttershy will be the party healer DEFINITELY. Probably a druid, IMO or nature mage. she's by far the least confrontational of the group, and the most easily scared, so she'd spend most of the fights being moe as hell and cringing from violence, while sheepishly healing the others when the opportunity arises.
Like pinkie pie above, possibly give her one or two moments of showing herself to have an OP ability but lack the ability to really use it in an offensive way. Like, having her tame an incredibly absurdly powerful monster of some type with her druid abilities and her kindness, though she'd immediately let the monster go once it had helped them in some way so it wouldn't be around when fighting the big bad.

Sunset shimmer, I'd actually NOT have be a mage. Rather have her be a Mage knight kind of character instead, in order to make her different from Twilight. Have her focus on having combat magic to buff up her weapons and whatnot, like causing her sword to burst into flame or whatnot, while she gets up close and personal with the monsters. Makes the party makeup a little more balanced too, as Otherwise you'd have 2 Melee and 5 Casters. LOLWUT.

twilight sparkle would be your stereotypical Squishy mage. Perfectly fits her personality and character. Give her a spellbook, even a big clunky wizards outfit, and make her a slow, stereotypical caster that has to spend a long period casting spells and isn't very mobile, but has an absurdly huge number of spells, limited only what the staff will let her get away with.

The only issue here that I can see is that We're missing a Ranger type bow user, which I can't imagine the group NOT having. Maybe make Rarity the archer of the group?

I like to picture in an RPG setting earth ponies/warriors, pegasus/rouges, and unicorns/mages.

That's a very common triangle for the pony races, pretty time honored. works pretty well for competitive balance too.
