At this day, having been a member of the fandom for some two months, I'm still amazed at the quantity and quality of fan productions that spawn everyday.

 

Top notch music, art, writing, handcrafts and other items pop up everyday, and they are fantastic! I really hadn't seen anything like this, granted, this is only the second homogeneous (single topic) fandom I've ever been into (the first being the Harry Potter fandom, and I was only in certain things, a single forum and roleplaying)

 

What is it about this fandom that motivates them so much? Have you ever met any other like this? I'm inclined to believe that there's not, but if the Internet has taught me something, is that there can be anything. Still, Ive been thinking this up for some days

This is why I love this fandom, they can make just about anything possible! Maybe it's the passion they have for the show is genuine passion and they want to share it the best ways they can.

I'm not sure what drives people towards this top notch work, but I believe it comes from the wonderful community backing up those who make these works of art, as in our community everyone compliments each other urging people to get better at what they do, thus ending up with more talented artists making more great fanwork.

Every fandom is being serious about it. You should check out what the Touhou series have spawned for exemple, it's quite incredible too.

Totally agree, I just joined a couple weeks ago, but I've been watching the show (and fan-made videos) for about a month now, and I've gotta say, this is not only possibly the fastest growing cultural phenomenon at the moment (although by no means the largest), but also one of the highest quality fandoms I've ever come across. Everyone on this forum is usually very polite, friendly, and good-humored, and that's something that's not very easy to find on the Internet always. The dubbing in the best fan-made videos is probably the highest quality I've ever seen, even surpassing fan-made videos that utilize the "Halo" video game franchise (except for Red vs. Blue, that is, and always shall be, the greatest machinima ever!!!). Frankly, the community and fandom is growing so fast, I wouldn't be surprised if, between Season 2 and Season 3, the fan base doubled in size (here's hoping that prediction comes true; cross your hoofs fellow bronies and pegasisters ).

It's amazing really, I personally never seen such creative energy surging through a fandom, i mean when i became a part of this fandom, this feeling made me want to draw ponies and only ponies, i don't know what it is, but it's awesome

I would think we spawn such great art and music for the reasons that the show itself is creative and wonderful, which inspires people to make their own works.

I've always been a doodler, drawing mini-cartoons in the margin of my notes and what-not. However, after 2 months of being on this forum I have been inspired by others to really draw. While I mostly draw ponies, I have been doing a couple of other things as well. I don't think I would be this into art if it weren't for seeing what gets done on site and what people draw in my animation class.

 

Oh! and I also find myself listening to more pony dubstep over the other techno music I have (but don't get me wrong, I still love Daft Punk and Deadmau5).

Well, to me at least, the show tends to evoke a strong emotional reaction. You obviously tend to spend lots of time, attention, and detail to something you really love rather than something you just do for a hobby.
