Canterlot orphanage (past)

Rain spattered against the window Rosie was resting her head against, the market wasn't as busy as it usually was. She had been living in the orphanage for some time now, and there wasn't much to complain about. Maybe the greedy griffins, and the fact that the other fillies seemingly were a bit scared of her, but other then that she was happy. The rain only intensified and it was now hard to see the outside due to the rain pouring down the window. She could make out a single griffin walking lone in the muddy streets, he reaching something out towards him, Probably a beggar... On the other side a large bulky seemingly armored figure was approaching the lone griffin. As the two was about to walk into each other the hefty figure pushed the poor beggar to the side and continued to walk decisively. Rosie squinted trying to make out who it was, the figure seemed so familiar in some way. She turned her head and looked around the room, she was beginning to feel paranoid.

@@Wicked Funky,

The day was as grey as it always have been, for Audi at least. Canterlot was no longer the same the last time she visited here. Ever since the Watchdogs stained Equestria with their twisted hooves, ponies were forced into poverty and execution. As for Audi, she has to deal with the fact that her uncle Lambo-Ghinie is part of the Watchdogs. The pressure was a lot to take in until Equestria became nothing to her anymore.

Although, all of those changes when she's with Rosie, a deer friend who shares her passion in engineering. She is visiting her today with her uncle hanging out somewhere. Rosie looked startled by something. Audi reaches her shoulder,

"Is there something out there, Rosie?" She tried to pry open the window curtain a bit bigger.

Rosie was slightly startled, "Oh, hey!... No, no it's nothing!"she said with a smile trying not to look worried,  but she felt a strong discomfort. The fact that Audi was there was of comfort to her at least, one of her only friends. Rosie didn't like Audi's uncle though, when he was around she didn't feel safe, but she never told Audi that. The watchdogs where after all one of the reasons she was there to begin with, "Where's your uncle?" she asked with a slight smile.

@@Wicked Funky,

"Ohh, the usual, he is having a party with his friends. But this time he brought bigger stuffs."

Audi felt unease of Rosie's face, her something-is-definitely-wrong face. Rosie has never been this anxious before. She was usually the toughest little zebra with a colt smile the Equestria has ever known. Today, she was just different. Audi tries to place a hoof on Rosie's forehead. It doesn't look like she's getting any fever but she holds Rosie in her hooves...

"Rosie, are you having a fever? I can call Ms.Seed (the patron)"

Bigger stuffs? Rosie thought to herself, she looked up on the fillys hoof as it made contact with her forehead, She was spurised but didn't say anything. "No need, I'm fine... Don't worry!" She answered with a smile, "I promise.". The figures bulky build and aggressive posture wouldn't leave her mind tough, Where have I seen that before?...

Rosie was definitely hiding something from Audi, her friend has always kept secrets but when it comes to feeling, they often share it quickly. Maybe it has something to do with the cloudy day.

"Hey, what's that outside?" she opens the curtain a bit wider. A familiar silhoutte seemed to trot closer to the door.

"Oh, it's uncle Lambo, and his friends, looks like I'll be going home earlier today Rosie."

Rosie was a bit let down, she usually was quite lonely without Audi, "Oh, okay...". Lambo just had to come and take Audi away, she really didn't like him right now, or anytime else actually. "Hopefully you can come visit again soon." Rosie said trying not to sound like a downer, flashing a smile towards her friend.

(OOC: I'll leave the control of Lambo to you.)

Uncharted Forest, North of Everfree, Fort Elise (1200 Years prior [FiM period])

"This is not looking good the Equestrian Army will breach the war room any moment now, we're out numbered 20 to one, we've taken heavy losses, and we're just now getting word from our scouts the Wonderbolts are on route to provide enemy support what should we do Snowflake?" "This is clearly the end for the Shadow Lurkers" Snowflake stopped to think for a moment "gather everyone still alive and head for the hidden vault. Take as many bit as you can gather and escape through the vaults hidden exit, once you're all in the clear abandon your uniforms and live your lives as normal ponies. Don't ever return here, they might be waiting, and as for me I'll cover your escape. Now move!" a few moments pass and the Equestrian army arrives at the war room "I'm going to give you all one last chance to turn back if you ever want to return to your families alive" The soldiers didn't fall for Snowflake's threat, and the captin ordered them to charge. The battle lasted 10 minutes before Snowflake couldn't fight any longer, but instead of letting them kill jim he froze himself in a thick layer of ice that no weapon could destroy. Not ever Equestria's best mages could unfreeze him, Snowflake was considered dead. 1200 years later the magic protecting his ice block had faded away, and Snowflake waited in the ruins of Fort Ellise for somepony to find him.

*bam*

A tall, scary looking colt slams the door very hard, it almost broke the hinges. Soon the rest of his ally got into the building. They were none other than the Watchdogs!

Ms.Seed stood in front of the orphans, "You insane dogs! How dare you steal things from the orphans! Think about how lowly that is!"

A green middle-aged colt face the old mare, "Ah, pardon me madam, I'm Lambo, Audi's uncle. We want to go to a meeting somewhere. That's why I just came here to pick her up. Please we mean no harm. Audi, come here, fun time's over!"

Audi let go of Rosie's hooves, "bye Rosie!" she waves as she put up a smile. She soon trots beside her uncle, "Uncle..."

Lambo speaks with a hint of bitterness, "let's go tough candy" as Lambo turns around, he paused for a brief moment beside a brown tough looking mare,

"Do whatever is necessary"

@@CP3_P0n3,

Rosie felt a strong discomfort as the group of Watchdogs entered. "Bye Audi!" she answered and met her with a smile, it didn't last for long though.

The brown mare saluted as Lambo was about to exit, "Understood", with a swift hoof gesture the group of Watchdogs started gathering up anything they could find of value. "You, you can't do this!" Ms. Seed shouted and took a step towards the brown mare, "Don't." the mare answered and pointed her gun without hesitation. Ms. Seed took a step back and watched as they looted everything in front of the children with tears in her eyes.

Rosie was still sitting at the window, she wasn't sure what to do and was constantly considering to take a step towards them but quickly retracted her hoof every time. She was reminded, hadn't this happened before? And how did that end?

Without a second thought she ran towards the brown mare, it was if it was innate to her, she just did it. Before she knew it she had a front hood planted in her face, "Pfft, stupid kids...". Ms. Seed was shocked, she started walking towards Rosie...

(The kick resulting in the scar across her mouth. Hopefully I wasn't to rash with this.)

@@Wicked Funky,

When the Watchdogs started to raid the orphanage, Audi turned her head around. Her eyes widened, in terror, scared.

"Uncle! Your friends! They are...!"

"You don't belong to them! Come here!" Lambo held her hoof intensely.

"No!" She bites Lambo's hoof. As soon as she was freed, she rushed inside the orphanage. Before she gets to make a move, there Rosie was, lying on the floor with a mean scar. Ms. Seed was beside her. She slipped through the raiding. Lambo was behind her but she knew it. Even if Lambo caught her in time, at least she gets to see Rosie, her one and only best friend.

"Rosie! Rosie! Please wake up! Ms. Seed, Rosie...!"

Rosie's vision was all blurred, she wasn't sure what was going on and there was a lot of muffled sounds and voices all around her. A familiar  voice was breaking through, she instantly recognized it as Audis. As she started to regain her senses she was slightly startled by the blood but still wasn't fully aware of the situation. "What's...." She tried to speak but could barely hear her own voice.

She looked up at Ms. Seed who was clearly panicking, rightfully so, and then turned her head towards the approaching Audi. In the haze of it all a loud booming sound could be heard just outside the orphanage, it was gunfire. (Rebels)

On a distant rock, a mysterious colt waved and whispered a brave breath, "Fire".

Soon, a gunfire was heard. Most of the watchdogs fell off their hooves, with Lambo nowhere to be seen.

"Damn, how did they find us?!" whispered a brown mare, who was obviously gritting her teeth. She took hold of Audi's hoof, "and you're coming with me. We can't afford to lose you."

"No!But..." *slap!* The brown mare covered her mouth as she dragged Audi in the run. She turned her head with guilty, towards Rosie. Her words hardly come out but her mind spoke with tears running down her cheeks,

Rosie was slowly regaining consciousness and was horrified as the first thing she could clearly see was her only and best friend she's ever had being taken away  kicking and crying. She reached out her hoof trying to reach Audi, but to no avail. Tears soaked her coat and she found it hard to look, but for some reason she couldn't look away. "Never...". There were blood spatter on the window she'd been spectating from only a few moments prior, the few watchdogs that remained alive made their escape and the rebels made their appearance.

Ms. Seed had suffered severe damage in the haze and chaos of it all. An unfamiliar face approached her, a large brown earth pony in old green military protective gear. The huge figure looked down upon the hurt old mare with a sigh, and with a swift head movement two other ponies came and picked her up on a dirty tattered stretcher. He had tired, experienced eyes that made him look anything but menacing. "How about, you come with us?" The stallion asked with a friendly smile adorning his face.

Baltimare: Alamo looked out the window, or where one should be, tho now it has shards of glass showing everyone where a easy death can be found, he hasen't been here long, only recently sent here, Alamo had to get used to the rain, empty buildings, and the water that surround the buildings themselves. He is part of a small group of rebels hold up in one of the empty buildings. He always had to move, never staying in one building for more than a week and always across the cables, the worst part is his fear of heights, making the cable crossing, the worse thing he has to put up with. It's a game of life and death in building that once held, peaceful ponies, now sometimes fill with the horrors he can't stop thinking about.

Viktor was tying a rope around 3 ponies who where screaming and kicking, trying to get out of this crazy pony's grasp. After a bit of effort, Viktor got the rope around them securely. He took out some oil, and started to pour it over the 3 ponies and their car. He turned on a lighter "Don't mess with me... Cykas (Bitches)" With that said, he threw the burning lighter at the car and walked away. their screams could be heard within miles.

Viktor started walking towards the wastelands, looking for more resources.

In a newsroom in an undisclosed location within Cloudsdale, a few ponies were scurrying about, trying to get the stories together before the deadline. It seemed the whole place was behind schedule, understandably so due to the antiquated, sometimes malfunctioning typewriters they had to resort to using. It's not like funds were all that high, they couldn't exactly advertise their newspaper too openly within the Rebels' base city, not with the unbiased way they wrote the stories. It didn't matter if it happened to be true, the Rebellion wouldn't allow anything to be published about them that could be seen negatively. This is why "The Twin Truths Gazette" existed in the first place: Overcensorship. In a world at war, the truth was hard to come by.

A short, sea green pony with a grey mane, sitting behind a desk shouted over to one of the others, "How's that story about the Baltimare Mer-pony coming along?" "My source's flight hasn't arrived, the interview is what the story was riding on," the pony answered. Quill, the pony behind the desk, was moving papers around, reading them as he went, passing a page off to one of the others as they walked by, saying, "This one's ready for page seven." Then directing his attention back to the first one he was speaking to, "We'll run the story about the unconfirmed Alicorn sightings in the Everfree instead. I know we shelved it for a reason, but we don't have anything else ready right now." Just then, the short pony's twin brother, Ink, stepped out of his messy office, "I've got the story on the 'Generous Watchdogs of Phillydelphia' ready for page one!" "For the last time, it's not going on page one, we're saving that for the story 'From the Belly of the Beast'. You know, the one about the little filly who was saved after being swallowed alive by the Hydra. That one will go on page two." "Oh, right," Ink said before another came by and he gave her the story to be brought to printing.

  • 2 weeks later...

The bitingly cold weather was the only reason behind the small nests of snow and frost which rested and froze upon each strand of hair on her coat and mane. Jade knew that. It was obvious. What she could not fathom, however, was the weather's impact on her team that trailed at a snail's pace behind her.

"Come on!" She barked. Her cool breath spilled out into the air as a white mist, caught by the wind and whisked away to the east. "We'll freeze to death out here if you don't start pulling your weight! Get the bags up here!" Her shouting barely carried thanks to the winds whistling above their heads as they continued on their journey through the forest. It was starting to get to the stage where Jade was truly worried. Their travels out into the wilderness had taken a dire turn upon arrival to the dense forest they now traversed, with an unnatural cold front replacing the warm one they had been travelling through. None of their equipment or clothing was suited for the environment. However, Jade wasn't the type of pegasus to just trot away because of that. She was determined to find something of value, some ancient salvage that could earn her a place in the good books of all the Watchdog higher-ups.

"Jade, it's so cold! Why do we have to do all the heavy-lifting? You ain't lifted a hoof to help us!" One pony near the back of the group yelled back. All of her accomplices looked bedraggled to say the least with the tattiest of cloth keeping them barely covered. Jade stomped up to the pony, snatching the saddlebags he was carrying from his shaking hooves.

"You expect me to do everything around here? Tartarus...do any of you even understand what this Equestria is that we live in?" The ponies all faced her with weak expressions. Jade leapt up onto a downed tree log, overlooking the four or five ponies under her leadership, ignoring the cold frost which threatened to freeze her skin right over. "You should know Equestria is merely a place of survival. There's no true happiness, no peace, just us few ponies...the STRONGEST ponies with a strong back and a will to live trying to make ends meet. If you want to chicken out, by all means leave!" There was a small snarl to her voice, an aggressive undertone. "But understand you're throwing away your only opportunity to not end up in a ditch dead somewhere as a forgotten soul." Before anypony spoke up, she turned and briskly took more steps forward with her fellow Watchdog's keeping close to her. She couldn't help but smirk as she took note of the pure terror in their eyes.

It couldn't have been ten minutes or so before she halted them all. Jade took a few careful steps forward and squinted her eyes through a thin bush of frosted twigs and berries. Straight ahead, she could make out the almost creepy silhouetted appearance of what looked like a castle or fortress of some kind. She licked her dry lips and her smirk grew wider.

Bingo.

Straight ahead, she could make out the almost creepy silhouetted appearance of what looked like a castle or fortress of some kind. She licked her dry lips and her smirk grew wider.

Bingo.

Scarlett had been following this odd bunch of completely under dressed and completely unprepared ponies over the past, finite value of distance. They seemed to be struggling with the weather, which was completely normal at this time considering where they were, but that wasn't the reason she was with them. She had been following the pony at the front, the one in charge. She didn't usually come out of hiding for anything, never mind one of the villainous ponies she had come to known as the Watchdogs, but this one pony seemed to remind her of something. But she couldn't quite put her hoof on it. A military-like pony with complete confidence and the inability to give up, now that does remind me of something she thought to herself.

She considered lightening the load of all these ponies with a little help from her magic, but decided against it as it would most likely pull her magical reserves away from what they needed to be doing, as in powering her suit so she could remain unseen, unheard and completely undetected from all the ponies and any sort of equipment nearby, as well as keeping her body warm.

This in no way stopped her from feeling the cold however, she could quite clearly see the occasional wisp of mist coming from her muzzle. The suit helped, yes, but unicorns weren't used to this level of coldness usually. Earth ponies were always working outside whether it be summer or winter, and pegasi lived up in heights of the sky where it was cold as well. But unicorns, unicorns tended to work indoors and never had this level of exposure. So, to put simply, even after all of her past experiences she was still not used to the cold.

Her respite arrived when the pony now identified as Jade was stopped by one of the ponies in the group behind her complaining about the supplies or whatever it was that they were carrying. The sat down as the group stopped to listen to Jade ranting about there was no true happiness and stuff. She was starting to consider turning around and going home right now. But she stuck with them a little longer to see what was going to happen. It was at that point that a silhouette of some turret based structure could be seen in the distance. Scarlett saw this as an opportunity to rest the night and then head home in the morning, given nothing interesting happened during that time.

"This way ponies!" Jade continued bellowing out commands to her inferiors as she carved a path through the thick snow layer which made traversing the land towards the fortress difficult. Her hooves crunched softly in the crisp, white snow beneath her. What do we have here... She wondered. The mist that seemed to cling to everything around her gradually cleared as they came within a few feet of a huge cobblestone wall, clearly decrepit but still holding strong after so many years. The more she saw, the wider Jade's grin became. She followed the stone around to the north a little bit, working her hooves over every nook and cranny until she felt wood before her.

"Switchblade! Bring up the bags!" She shouted back down the line. Each pony in turn passed down the message to Switchblade, who quickly rushed to the front. "Looks like we're in for a treat today!"

The door's creaked immensely, snow that had been gently resting across it falling off with the sudden jerky movement of a dozen ponies all pushing against it. The wind whipped through Jade's soft mane and she took a deep breath, inhaling all the scents of the inner courtyard of this giant castle. From what she could see, there was a wealth of ancient technology and magic to be found, with three buildings jetting off from the main courtyard, where there appeared to be an old training ground. Seeing all the wooden pony mannequin's and targets laid out allowed her to briefly reminisce of her younger years, where her parents spent years training and preparing her for whatever she may face.

But that was a long time ago.

"Alright, we'll split up and search the buildings. If you find anything of worth, bring it out here and keep me posted about it. I'm heading into that one with Switchblade and Iron." She gestured towards the command centre and the two ponies she mentioned moved to her flanks. "We haven't got all day!" Before long each small group parted ways and began their scavenger hunt

The amount of mist obscuring her vision lessened and lessened as she and the mass of ponies before her moved closer and closer to the castle, fortress, whatever it was meant to be. Though the could have sworn that she had seen it before. As they got within a couple-hundred meters, the air was immediately filled with Jade giving orders. Typical military pony.

The dozen ponies before her opened the door and an old but reminiscent smell could be detected once you were close enough. Who knew what could be inside. The main courtyard seemed to be a training ground, causing Scarlett to worry that it may have been a military installation once, and then Jade gave the command to search the castle. She knew she'd have to follow Jade through some tight corridors, probably, so she ducked behind a corner and quickly cast a gravity spell on herself so that if needed, she could follow them from the ceiling.

Jade was wary as she entered the building. It may be old, but a place like this could have any number of traps still laying in wait for a victim to pounce upon. Fortunately, the further she went in, the more she realised the traps were not built to last. Bear traps and floor switches all lay in ruins around her. Rust and decay everywhere she looked. It would be a miracle to find anything of worth in there. Just her luck.

"You two, check through there. Head down the stairs and with any damn luck, we'll find something of worth to take back to the Crystal Empire." She took a breath, one breath, and headed the opposite way. She passed through a multitude of different rooms and passages, but the decay that had set in meant they were barely distinguishable as anything significant. However, the last room she stepped into looked more hopeful. Rows upon rows of wooden racks down each wall were filled with old weaponry, some of it looking relatively in shape. Possibly, because of the snow and ice that had set in thanks to a wall breach on the left side.

"Alright, weapons are good...even if they're awful themselves, we can always do with the materials." Jade muttered to herself, letting out a sigh. She noticed for the first time her stomach was growling, and it only led to more groaning. "Of course I'm hungry...when am I not hungry?" She chose to come back later for the weapons and instead found herself drawn to the staircase ahead of her.

Her hooves echoed when the pegasus entered the enclosed space. There was a surprisingly warm glow coming from above, which made no sense, but she shrugged it off and continued upwards. The stairway opened up onto a huge room directly above the armoury. It was a complete mess. At some point over the years, the roof had been torn away and snow was beginning to settle all over the place. What is this? ...A war room? Something like that? A dozen questions flew through her head simultaneously as she looked around. Jade shook her head. No. That wasn't the mission. Just got to see if they can find anything.

Ten minutes in. No such luck. She was getting frustrated. How could there be nothing here? Had someone been there before them? "Grrrr...RAH!" She howled in frustration, tossing aside a rotting wooden chair in her path which flew across the room and smashed against a wall.

And yet....

A shadow stirred after her outburst out of the corner of her eye. Jade instantly drew her weapon, directing the barrel straight towards the shadow. "HEY! Who's there?" She took a few steps forward. "Whoever you are, you're on Watchdog territory right now and I swear to Celestia, I am completely happy to gun you down if you try anything whatsoever."

Scarlett simply followed Jade, making mental notes on everything that was going on with her and the environment. After a while she began invisibly walking across the ceiling out of pure boredom, and looked down to see Jade shouting at nothing. God damn this pony had issues.

Snowflake stood there frozen as he was 1200 years ago. The magic surrounding his ice block had finally died, but was still frozen from the cold weather finding its way into the war room. His mind was blank, and everything seemed to go by in a matter of second despite the years go by.

Jade tried to look into the corner where the shadows had moved, but could see nothing. In fact, no form of reply came back at all. No breathing, no flurry of hooves, nothing. Just the gentle whistle of the wind above her.

Being incredibly careful, she steadily put one hoof in front of the other and eased her way towards the corner. Jade couldn't help but cringe at times. The stone flooring meant stealth wasn't exactly an option with her hooves clopping loudly despite her best attempts to be careful. She rolled her eyes and continued, aiming her gun directly towards the corner. Hopefully she'd catch any attacker off guard, or at least, stop them from making any brash decisions.

However, her vision gradually adjusted to the darkness and she lowered her gun in shock. Before her was a pony, unicorn it seemed, practically frozen up against the cold stone wall. Jade looked down and could see the remnants of some sort of ice block that now lay in pieces at her hooves. Further intrigued, she took a few hoofsteps further. The pony was definitely a unicorn, a light blue coat and a white mane and tail. He didn't seem to be much of a threat...but how he got here at all was puzzling her anyway.

Well, she wouldn't get any answers out of him standing around.

She holstered her weapon and grabbed the pony, trying to see if he was conscious. "Hey blue guy, you awake in there?"
