If Luna controls dreams, then shouldn't Celestia control daydreams?

In the episode "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sleep?", Luna states that her sister Celestia doesn't control the realm of sleep. But daydreams, on the other hand, aren't really dreams. So, shouldn't Celestia have been in this episode, even for a little bit? I don't know, just something I thought about as I was daydreaming in class. ;)B)

Well if we say that daydreams involve not sleeping and dreams involve sleeping, then I think Sunbutt might have some influence. It stil makes no sense.

Well, daydreams do happen when you're not sleeping, so I would assume that she would.

Maybe, it's still the dream thing that is throwing me off...

Even if I were to ignore the topic's daydream premise, I would still agree with this.  Celestia ought to have been in the episode.  It was her sister Luna who was self-punishing and suffering.  That silliness about "the realm of dreams" was an overtly contrived way to deliberately exclude Celestia from the mix.

I don't think niether Luna nor Celestia controls Daydreams as they're just called that but they're really just deep thought. Kind of like Meteorites being called Shooting Stars, when they aren't really.

@,

Well I would say no if only because to suggest she does has some very disturbing implications. Daydreams, are not dreams, they are us choosing to fantasize or let our minds run wild. Dreams are memories of our subconscious when our brains aren't engaged with the day to day tasks of motor control, prioritization, not even getting into some of our bigger questions.

Luna controlling the realm of dreams makes sense as it's a natural aspect that we, as humans, have no control (the subconscious) over and most things that run themselves on Earth must be manually maintained in Equestria. To suggest that Celestia somehow governs daydreams is to suggest that, the conscious thought and choice of everypony in Equestria is something she's actively controlling, literally everypony, every minute, of every day. In essence, that free will doesn't exist in Equestria, there is only Celestia's will.

I don't think this is even remotely a possibility for a number of reasons but the most glaring example is Twilight's "want it, need it" spell fiasco. It's the first time we actually see the Princess visibly disappointed with Twilight. It's clear that Celestia draws a very hard line at magics that subvert free will.

Which . . . now that I think about it, might be just as much personal as ethical. After all, Luna's will was at least partially co-opted by a magic force from outside her and that's what birthed Nightmare Moon.

What is a daydream really? Just you getting lost in your thoughts? If it's closer to falling into a kind of slumber that would be in Luna's jurisdiction. Remember this is Equestria where all little boys and girls should be sleeping only at night and not in the morning.
