gaming Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 coming to Xbox One and PS4!

In a rather unexpected announcement, Capcom has revealed that it will be re-releasing Resident Evil 6, 5 and 4 for the Xbox One and PS4 in 2016. As a huge fan of RE4 and 5, I am incredibly excited for this and being able to replay these games again will be cool, though I really hope that these games are actually improved with the hardware, rather than just being ports. Xbox One has backwards compatibility so Capcom needs to give us a good reason to prefer these over the original versions. 

 

Still, I am quite excited for this. I never got a chance to play 6 much, so that will be interesting too. Anyone else excited for this? Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorites in the series and I feel like 5 was actually a fantastic entry as well, despite not being so much about horror.

STOP CAPCOM. STOP. Stop remastering, porting games. MAKE NEW GAMES. Literally the last game you made was Street Fighter 5 and it's not even finished yet. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER PORT OF RE4. LITERALLY IT HAS BEEN PORTED TO OVER 12 PLATFORMS. STOP. LIKE HOLY HELL, STOP. Stop porting, remastering, and remaking games this is getting insanely stupid.

 

I loved RE4, don't get me wrong, but holy hell this is getting ridiculous, they need to stop remastering, porting and remaking and make new games. Literally 90% of what Capcom is doing now is just porting, remastering and remaking. MAKE NEW CONTENT. I love Resident Evil, but so many fans hated 5 and 6 and even those of us who loved 4 are tired of you re-releasing 4 (which ironically was supposed to be a Gamecube exclusive). Like Capcom's entire strategy now is basically just re-release games to get people to buy them over and over and over and it's getting old very fast.

 

You can play RE4-6 on the PS4 as well with PS Now, so this is totally pointless. :I

I can understand this point. It does seem like Capcom is mostly just remastering a bunch of their old content, the Megaman Legacy Collection is another prime example of this.

I love 4. I've played it on many platforms but this is getting annoying. Like Capcom is in denial of why 6 didn't do so hot. It did poorly because the story was crappy, the mechanics didn't work and they locked so much of the extra content behind multiplayer.

The resident evil series was my favorite thing a while ago it's still one of my favorite things but The series doesn't have the same feeling as it used to I hope the story gets back on track eventually

People keep buying them, so they keep making them. Its the same with selling parts of a game as DLC, microstransactions, season passes, yearly releases, and pre-orders. Stop giving publishers and developers money for this shit and they might stop. We as consumers speak with our wallets, and these things keep happening, so the gaming industry will unfortunately keep going down this path until consumers actually say no.

Sadly it's not even that people are not saying no, it's... Okay I'll explain this very briefly as to why despite the vast majority of gaming not liking stuff like this, why it continues to work:

 

Stuff like DLC, microtransactions and such are based upon "whales" AKA people who spend tons of money and don't really care because they have tons of disposable income. They will spend large amounts without even thinking about it. For every 10 people who don't buy a microtransaction, this one person will buy 10. It's sort of this crap that keeps these practices going. It's not that the majority is not voting against it by not buying it, it's that the minority that is buying it buys it like 10 times.

 

That being said I MIGHT be willing to buy RE4 again if they add more content or trophies, because the PS3 version was a joke in terms of trophies. More challenging trophies would be enough for me to throw down $20 again, but this is legitimately the last time.

So except for RE3 (so far) the entire main series is going to be available on PS4. Ten bucks says an "ultimate collection" or something comes out when RE3 is remade too.

 

I'm curious to see what they'll do with RE2. I don't know if they've even shown anything after the original announcement.
