Being one of my favorite games series of all time are you hyped for the remaster of System Shock? However the problem everyone seems to have is the engine, Unity3D. Now I haven't used the engine nor do I have much knowledge about it. One thing I do recall that people don't like about  the Unity enigne is the lack of OpenGL API, which I could see people being upset about. I know there's some programmers on this site what are your comments about the game and it's engine, which engine do you think would benefit this game? Which engine would you like to see used for this game? Personally I would like to see this game in the Unreal Engine but that's just me.

The beta version shows a lot of awesome content and even kept the scariness of the series. I was surprised too after I saw they used the Unity Engine, but should've foreseen that since Unity is still popular with developers.

And recently there's good news about System's Shock's original creator, Warren Spector. He's helping with the developing of System Shock 3.

Hopefully both games get this treatment.

That would be awesome .

I tried playing System Shock 2 once but I couldn't get over how old it was.

Maybe you could search for some mods on the Internet.

Eeeeh. Not really a PC gamer. I stay away from mods unless I absolutely have to, like with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines where it was literally unplayable without a mod.

I like to play games as vanilla as possible. I see no reason to use mods to change that experience. In the case of System Shock 2 I'll either buck up and finally play it someday or I might just never touch it again. No huge loss either way.

I've been playing the game, heavily modded, for a couple of years now. I actually just finished my third playthrough a month ago. This is something I'm absolutely looking forward to,

As much as I'd love to see it in unreal, I can't help but feel as though the Unity engine will help it retain some of its quirky magic.

Frostbite engine. It powers pretty much every EA game these days, and they look stunning.

Using the Frostbite Engine can only with EA's permission and they probably come with demands which could be seen for the developer as a killer contract.

System Shock 1 and 2 are both games that have been on my "intend to play" list for a while, since I've heard nothing but good things about them (besides a few gripes about 2 here and there and the fact that 1 had to be modded to include the ability to look around using the mouse). I loved Bioshock, which we all know was a spiritual successor to the original Shock games with a good number of the same features, so with the remake coming up maybe I'll finally have a chance to give them a shot.

As more of a console gamer though, this talk of Engines flies right over my head. So long as the game runs smooth with little to no hiccups or glitches, I could care less what it runs on.
