Azureth 687 April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 When Gen IV finally ends and Gen V finally comes around do you think it would be better to have it set in another area of Equestria or place in the world Equestria is in so that while new perhaps we could have cameo appearances from the Mane 6 and others or do you think it should be in a completely different universe with absolutely no ties to Gen IV? Hmm, I dunno how ponies would look in Gen V I mean we're already at the peak of animated ponies But I suppose I'd love to see it being in Equestria still, myself
EquestriaGuy 1,074 April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 Gen 5 should be within an altered timeline where Trottingham has been consumed by a black hole, radically changing history for the worse.
snowflame 189 April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 I do not know why people assume there will be Gen 5 like it is a certainty. Gen 4 could just continue as long as it can for a very long time and then there never will ne another Gen since there is just no demand anymore and Hasbro might have another popular property for girls after Gen 4 ends so there is no need for them to try to continue. I am not saying Gen 5 won't happen, it is just strange to me how certain people seem of this even though there are many shows and other properties that actually just end.

You DID say gen5 won't happen. Do yo have Pinkie sense? Can you know with 100% certainty Hasbro's every future move? Unlikeable Pony 2,700 April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 IMO, I'd go for a reboot. do an alternate version of FIM, like transformers. redo the world and characters, but keep the same basic concepts and characters. Gen 5 should be within an altered timeline where Trottingham has been consumed by a black hole, radically changing history for the worse. Night maid rarity when? Did you even read my post? I merely stated that I do not belive Gen 5 is definately happening unlike the current consensus. Then I stated I do not believe it is definately not happening either. My point was that we do not know either way and I do not know why people belive it is definately happening.

Every show ends eventually and another gen will pop up. Even if nobody asked for it to happen. 2. As to why everyone's certain that there will be a Gen 5 (and there will): Transformers. This is Hasbro you're talking about after all.

To be fair hasbro's let their uber popular brands more or less die before: Look at how GI Joe as a cartoon franchise basically died out. Now everytime they try to bring it back it sputters for a couple of seasons before crashing and burning. But yeah, I don't see them not launching a new MLP as soon as this one ends. Invincible 2,092 April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 I could see it as a reboot of FiM; or something else entirely. Gen.4 Was actually well-executed, so it'd be interesting to see how they go for another fresh start while applying what they've seen so far. My OCs for Roleplay purposes: o Lit Fuse (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/lit-fuse-r6608) o Dust Devil (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/dust-devil-r7357)

Just because someting has happened in the past it is not a gurantee it will happen again. And MLP and Transformers are surely not Hasbro's only series, there must be many that are not rebooted. Merion 783 April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 I do not know why people assume there will be Gen 5 like it is a certainty. Hasbro's been doing the pony thing for... what, 33 years? I think it's safe to assume that there will be another MLP gen. Gen II flopped, but Hasbro decided to introduce a Gen III anyway. And even though Bronies hate it now, it was fairly successful. After all, it spawned COUNTLESS toy lines and at least 5 feature-length animated movies. And the current Gen IV seems more successful than any of the previous ones. I think Hasbro's gonna keep the pony business up and just sell ponies to new generations of little girls. They don't really need to come up with new franchises, thanks to the nostalgia factor. Think of what Disney's doing with The Lion King. The kids who loved the original film now have kids of their own... Bam! 22 years after the premiere of The Lion King, Disney produces a spin-off marketed at preschoolers. Coincidence? I think not. Parents want to share the wonders of their childhood with their own kids. Franchises with long tradition have a lot of potential because they connect the generations. click here! ♥

But contiuning to make ponies like with Lion King would not be another Gen at least not to me. There would just be a break from pony for a while. But each Generation has a different art style, different storylines, characters and locations. Each time a new Generation of pony happens, it's a complete reboot. It would be nice if Hasbro continued the G4 style, but they might just do the usual thing and steer MLP in a whole new direction. Plus, previous MLP Gens also had breaks between them. G2 started 5 years after G1 was discontinued. Then there was another 5-year long gap between G2 and G3 (Well, at least in the US... In Europe G2 continued on until the G3 products started popping up.
