I think the original my little dashie is the saddest. I read the 'sadfics' you made. the writing was impeccable. AMAZING!!! it think it falls short when it comes to the story. that may not be your fault but I think my little dashie should have only been one fanfic with no sequels. I get it's popular and would spawn fans who would like to make sequels but, while the writing may be good sometimes, the stories keep getting worse with every sequel and remake of seqals. besides this, my little dashie, ONLY the original, has really pulled at the heartstrings a bunch of times.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say My Little Dashie is overrated. I never found it engaging personally and I felt like it tried being as sad and manipulative as possible. I know it's the darling of the MLP fanfic community and the gold standard for sadfics, but I am just not a fan unfortunately. 

 

With that out of the way, there was an early fanfic which showed that Spike had grown up and the rest of the mane 6 had passed on except for Twilight for obvious reasons. Spike was growing into the dragon equal of a late teen/young adult and he and Twilight were passing by what used to be the other ponies' homes. Sugarcube Corner was still in business but under new management, as was Sweet Apple Acres, but Carousel Boutique was in shambles, so was Twilight's home, and Fluttershy's cottage was unrecognizable as nature had reclaimed it, and the ending had the two in a graveyard with the tombstone of the other ponies, each with their cutie mark etched in their tombstones.

I thought Circle Of Friends was the saddest one. Bear in mind that I've read very few fics so my frame of reference isn't all that big. I found My Little Dashie to be too narmy, rather than actually sad. Circle Of Friends, though, feels more melancholy than outright sad, and especially with the right music (A Walk Down The Trail by Reasoner) is a very emotional fic.

Lone Black Train is likewise a sad one.

It's been a very long time since I've read it but When Heroes Aren't There To Save You had me feeling some... emotions. Of course the obligatory My Little Dashie was a hard hitter as well. Oh my god that story had me going for a few hours.
