perhaps use something to elevate the bottom off the table, most laptops draw in air at the bottom. It will help and can be as cheap as a piece of wood.

I guess i l try that, dont think it will work though.

I elevate mine with a Gear Head fanboard.

It costs about $12 at Ocen State Job Lot which is an equivalent of like a Family Dollar.

It comes with a lifetime warranty and it is pretty quiet.

Posted Image step 1: put computer in

Step 2: fill with ice

Step 3: turn on computer

Step 4: ??????

Step 5: profit

Actually, I've used this in the past (until I got my Mac) with my old Dell. I'd put an ice pack underneath it and it would considerably cool it down. I'm assuming it recognized it, because the fan progressively went lower and lower until I couldn't hear it.

Actually using those flat desk cooler fan things can be harmful for your laptop. Depending on how it was designed you can actually be forcing heat (and dust) back *into* it using one of those things. I would say elevate it to start, and let it get some air underneath. If the fan actually poops out, and you're feeling handy, you can crack open your laptop (just unscrew the bottom) and check and see what fan has actually gone bad. If it's your CPU fan or GPU typically those are very difficult to replace as those are integrated into the motherboard, making those parts very specialized and hard to obtain through regular means. Meaning, you can't just go to your local MicroCenter or computer parts store and pick up another one, plug, replace, and be on your merry. You may have to replace the ENTIRE motherboard (as was the case for my old Dell laptop), in which case you have to go through the manufacturer, and THEN you may as well just go buy a new laptop because it will be JUST as expensive to get the part as it is to get a new laptop.

Or it could be a standard 40mm fan that you just plug and play and live happily ever after. As I said. It depends on your computer and how brave you're feeling. It is a *very* simple repair that just requires you doing a little bit of research beforehand. But I very strongly recommend AGAINST the coolers. I saw MORE laptops come into my service center that used those damn things that DID NOT use them. They kill laptops. Please, for the love of Celestia, just set your laptop up on something high, and let'er breathe while you're using it. Take a can of air and gently blow out vents that look to be dusty (or even NOT dusty.Insides could be yucky and jammed). Good luck! ^-^/)
