Slashy 101 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 They seem to be a huge issue to the Equestrians, so wouldn't it be better if they destroyed them all?
M'gann M'orzz 745 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 They can't, they seem to be completely unstoppable if enough conflict and strife exist. RARITY IS THE BEST PONY EVER
El Duderino 881 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 Windigos are malicious spirits. If you know about traditional lore, then you would know they are spirits that feed off of malicious thoughts and behavior. Traditionally, they are specifically drawn to people who engage in cannibalism and will possess them and transform them into a cannibalistic monster who can never fulfill their hunger. That obviously isn't appropriate for a childrens show, but they seem to stick to the feeding off of malicious actions and thoughts. Maybe the desire to destroy them would fuel the Windigos power. They are also spirits and may not be very easy to just destroy. 1 My ponysona/OC: https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/treble-r8882 Check out my Soundcloud too: https://soundcloud.com/colton-paul-crawford DeviantArt: http://scottish-bastard.deviantart.com/
Unlikeable Pony 2,700 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 Because Tracking down EVERY SINGLE windigo is probably more or less impossible. Its like trying to eradicate the common cold, you'll never get them all.
cmarston1 5,964 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 Because something like that would never happen in an MLP cartoon. Besides that, as long as conflict and strife exist, windigos will too. Plus I am pretty sure trying to destroy windigos will end up causing conflict, which in turn to could keep the windigos still existing.
cider float 2,539 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 From what I feel Windigos are like the force of nature. It's like trying to kill a tornado you can't kill it and even if you halt it that doesn't mean more can't form in the future.
SBaby 660 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 (edited) From what I've seen of them, the Windigos seem to be ethereal beings, meaning they exist on a separate plane from the rest of the world. So in order to even damage them with any form of attack, you would first need to either find a means of attacking them in their own plane, or find a way to draw their physical bodies into your plane of existence. They seem to be drawn toward malice, negative feelings or in MLP terms, disharmony on a massive level. It almost seems to be an obsession or compulsion, like a fundamental force they can't resist. It's even possible that this happens against their own will. And from their frame of reference, the only way to stop it from happening is to destroy the source of the disharmony. It should also be noted that if my theory on how the Elements of Harmony and the world of FiM function turns out to be generally true, it could very well be that they are the failsafe, or the control mechanism by which harmony is forcibly maintained. Get too disharmonious or question things too closely, and out come the Windigos to keep things in check. Edited May 15, 2016 by SBaby A Winner Is You!!! Luminance 2,187 May 15, 2016 Share May 15, 2016 It's to portray that ponies bring their own strife and conflict upon themselves and the only way to "destroy" the windigos is to start with the conflicts, to mend the problems and find way to better themselves. The negativity and disengagement of the ponies will essentially be the cause of their demise. The windogos were only the effects of the resulting problems. MLPFanatic34 3,241 May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 Wendigos feed off murder and greed and in some instances cannibalism, that and they seem to represent spirits or ghosts to some degree at least in MLP.
