private Dinner with the King (RP)

A few moments after Crystal Sat down, the doors on the far side of the room opened and King Sombra walked into the room. He approached the table, sat down at the larger and more elegant chair at the head of the table, and then he spoke.

"Good evening, I hope everyone here is comfortable." He said, looking for a moment at Crystal. "We certainly have a colorful crowd today, hmm?"

Flash didn't know if he should respond to that but he did anyway.

"Yes your highness, there certainly is an interesting variety of different kinds of ponies here."

"So..... Um...... HEY! Your highness.... " Flame sputtered out hastly, not sure how to address the pony who essentially be his grim reaper. He's appearance didn't show any lick of confidence either, his eyes were nervously dotting everywhere, his body mainly his wings were fidgeting involuntarily.

 

"W-what do you have in store for us?"

"So..... Um...... HEY! Your highness.... " Flame sputtered out hastly, not sure how to address the pony who essentially be his grim reaper. He's appearance didn't show any lick of confidence either, his eyes were nervously dotting everywhere, his body mainly his wings were fidgeting involuntarily.

"W-what do you have in store for us?"

Sombra looked over towards Flame and spoke.

 

"Now, where are my manners. You're all probably hungry, bring in the first course."

 

Mere seconds after the king spoke, six waiters entered the room with domed silver platters which were placed on the table, one in front of each guest. The domes were removed to reveal a bowl of a wonderful looking vegetable soup, with assorted vegetables such as carrots, celery and peas floating in its aromatic broth.

 

"Bon appetit." Said the king as the waiters left.

@@NoraNut8592, Cresent looked at the bowl of soup never smelling such good flavors before, he wanted to just dive int and bath in it as well. Yet before his moved on his hunger he slowly asked "your...majesty....this smells......amazing....what is it?" he asked stirring it curiously yet wanting to eat it all up.

Copper was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal given to him. He said, "Mmm. It looks delicious, your highness." He then took a fork and gracefully ate some of the peas. After taking the first bite, he said, "This is delicious. Quality at its finest. Your chefs have done well, your highness."

Stardust was a bit nervous. Her stomach was in knots, she looked at the bowl in front of her. She had no urge to eat this soup at all. She sat there quietly, hoping that she would just go unnoticed by everypony. After making such a big deal earlier about trying to get out she just wanted to disappear. 

 

She did notice that the King looked in her direction, she figured it would probably be a good idea to at least stir her soup, make it look like she was eating.

"What is it you ask? A mere bowl of soup, that is all. Don't worry, no harm will come to you by eating the soup."

@@NoraNut8592, Cresent still stiring paused shrugged. If the king had some sort of psychical test for what ever happened to everypony he might as well eat what he could. "my apology's your highness, just haven't had such good food before" Cresent said sounding tired. As he took a spoonful in he relished the taste of it with every spoon.  

 

If any pony noticed it they could have seen small tears running down the batponys cheeks....

I've been tought by my mother to respect royalty, no matter how feared they are. Not that you're feared or anything, but I think you are a great king." He continued to eat after speaking, because honestly, he was starving for a while.

Stardust felt her cheeks get hot. She sank in her chair a bit more. She so desperately wanted to hide under the table.

 

She brought the spoon to her lips. Blowing on it slightly so it wouldn't burn her mouth. Looking around before she took a bite.

 

The broth was sensual, smooth and velvety as it went down. It was just the right temprature. The vegetables were cooked just perfect, not soggy, perfectly al dente. Giving it a bit of texture without the crunch you would get if they were raw.

 

As much as she was nervous before her concentration was now completely on the food. She lost herself in the soup, still keeping her composure even though she wanted to gulp down the entire bowl in one big swig.

 

Using her napkin between every third to fourth bite, being polite to the others around the table.

 

Before she knew it her bowl was empty. She sat quietly after neatly placing her napkin across her legs.

While everyone had been initially suspicious of the mouthwatering soup, Flash had been eagerly, although politely, consuming his. And it was delicious.

Crystal looked at the soup, smelling it curiously for any signs of foreign ingredients... though it seemed safe. She looked at the tiny spoon and sighed, attempting to pick it up in her claw grip. Her cheeks blushed at the struggle she was having, silently hoping no pony would notice.

The king noticed Crystal's predicament.

Crystal felt eyes on her once the King spoke up, so she gave up on the spoon. She drank the soup in a few gulps like a dog.

 

Once finished she looked around. "Apologies for that... unfortunately I feel all my meals will be like this.." Crystal said softly and looked down to avoid eye contact.

Copper had finished with his soup after a few minutes of eating with his spoon. "You are most welcome." The king said to Copper, "Now, before we continue to the next course, something needs to be taken care of."

 

A sense of dread could be felt throughout the lavishly decorated room, and then, IT happened.

 

Flamestreak began to act as if he was choking on something, and after a moment of convulsing, slumped in his chair. A group of Sombra's servants then entered the room, removed the body, and cleared everyone's places.

 

"So," Sombra spoke. "Who is ready for the next course?"

Crystal watched on in fear, seeing the poor stallion choke. She managed to glance at Sombra's face... it was filled with absolute madness, a crazed grin on his face.

She gulped and looked down, pretending that seeing the death did not bother her too much.

Sombra took in the horrified looks from his guests with an evil smile on his face.

 

"Alright, now that that is out of the way, we may start the second course."

 

As if on command, the same group of ponies entered the room with five of the same silver domed platters, which were then placed in front of each guest. The domes were removed to reveal a lovely looking salad with a few croutons in it, and a small vessel on the side filled with a sweet smelling dressing.

 

The sixth pony who had entered the room placed two glasses in front of each guest at the table and filled one with water, and one with wine.

 

"Have any of you ever had wine before? I hear it is rather delicious, and also very hard to find. Please, help yourselves." The king said.

Copper was surprised to see a salad in the mix, but he knew right then that the King would try to make him have wine. He shook his head, saying, "I've never had wine before. I'll try it for once in my life."

 

He took a sip of wine, and his eyes widened in surprise. He then flashed a toothy grin, and said, "This is great tasting wine! The quality is incredible! Another work done well, your highness." He then set his drink down on the original spot, and proceeded to eat his salad.

Stardust made quick work of her salad. She skipped using the dressing, she had smelled it and it was much too sweet for her liking.

 

She took a few sips of the wine which, was also very sweet. She then drank her water, it was nice and cold.

 

She sat and watched as everypony ate their course. She looked over at the empty chair where Flamestreak had sat just a few moments ago. She wasn't overly sad about his passing, she had only met the pony for the little while they had in the entry way of the castle. But the thought that the king could drop them like flies at his will was sobering.

Flash took one look at the salad before him and it brought memories flooding back. Memories of a time before King Sombra, and of times spent with his mother.

 

It was about six years ago, he and his mother were in the kitchen, separating the leaves of various vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, and others. Once they had finished that they tossed all the ingredients in a bowl, put in a generous amount of croutons, and added the dressing that they had made earlier.

 

After that, Dad came home and they all sat at the table together and ate. They all talked about their days, and laughed at Dad's jokes.

 

The thought caused him to cry, and he wept. Before now, he had never really properly grieved for his parents, the loss of them had shocked him into a state in which he felt next to nothing. But with these memories coming up again, he truly felt the loss. He didn't care what the other ponies in the room or even Sombra thought seeing him do this,he had to get it out. Once the sobbing subsided and he regained his composure, he thanked the King and began to eat his salad.

Crystal once again sniffed at the salad before tasting. Regular vegetables... regular wine... she sighed and glanced around, hoping no one was looking as she opened her mouth and ate half the salad in a bite.

 

Her ears flicked when she heard the weeping coming from a stallion. She looked down to see the pony, swallowing her salad. Wanting to support him.. but just turned to finish her salad..

@, seeing flash break down with the salad only madethe batpony all the more annoyed at the king, something had to be said and what made it worse no other pony wuld address the death in the room. Wheather the others were too shocked or scared by it he couldn't tell "So this is it then, we eat, then we die one by one?" he finished his salad then took a swig of the delicious wine.
