Does anyone feel that they should have used human traits?

I know that people would be crying racism if they used natural skin color, but who cares. It would look WAY more pleasing to the eye, in addition to real hair color. Heights and proportions wouldn't really matter since they already had ultra thin and thick characters.

I wouldn't be crying racism, but I prefer the colorful skin tones. We're all ready talking about a setting with magic and talking Ponies.

I am perfectly fine with it.

I am pretty sure that if the main characters had actual human skin tones there would be a lot of controversy on them not being the nationalities that certain people imagined them being.

With how controversial EQG was, I don't think this would have helped made the discussions about it any more pleasant.

Not sure the rest of the fandom would've followed your example though . People LOVE to rummage racism in EVERYTHING   . Besides, having colorful skin color make them as.... colorful as their pony counterparts

I kind of wished they had used human skin tones so people WOULD cry racism. Because I wanted to see someone go "MY KID CAN'T IDENTIFY WITH AJ ANYMORE BECAUSE SHE IS BLACK!" so we could find out who the racists are and then know not to bother catering to their wishes anymore. Anyone who would get mad at the characters being different races is... Well... A racist.

I liked how their skin matched their pony colors. Besides, people are missing one key thing. Twilight traveled to "The Human World". It was NEVER identified as Earth.

The art team said they wanted the human world to resemble the pony world in a way. Without the colors, they're wouldn't be any real connection besides the magic that wasn't there in the first place.

 

Plus I absolutely love Sunset's FG design. They took everything I hated about the original and threw it away. They just need to do that to the rest of the Mane 6 (7?) and we would have some beautiful character models.

I actually prefer her old design. The new one is a bit too girly, but it's mainly because of the green dress, and I would not object to Sunsetkeeping the jeans but swapping out the green dress for something that makes her look more badass, as I prefer that she look more like a bad girl. It's bad enough Applejack is wearing a skirt, but I feel some characters outfits don't match their personalities.
